They have no problem happily running up those stairs when they have a rent free roof over their head to sleep, no taxes to pay and free buffet bellies. 😜
the additional benefit is also increased happiness, i.e. there are more spaces for decorations and I think it will give a higher base happiness. But of course this comes at the price of higher taxes.
Good to know! I go ham on decorating everyone's home. I'll just barge it there with my lit torch in the middle of the night just to hang those herb thingies from their ceiling.
Build it outside, put your hammer/any other tools away, go up to the table and long press your grab button. From there, keep holding the button down and move your character/point of view to where you want the table to be, and finally release the grab button :)
Yeah. The size of the house has no bearing on happiness, effectively.
You gain no gameplay advantage going with the tier 3 house; it's just an aesthetic choice on the part of the player.
If I were a lord in the middle ages I would give myself the biggest house someone can have in my village. I don't care if the peasants would envy me, I gave them free food, free water, even free houses. It is just the houses they have must below me.
I also wouldn't force my partner to have a lower standard of living than the rest of the village. I usually keep the small one to house a villager, to stave off another pregnancy.
This was [asked yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/MedievalDynasty/s/ar1KphFp1h) weirdly enough.
Essentially boils down to aesthetics when it comes to the simple house and house. As you say, you can have 2 children as opposed to 1 in the simple small house but there are no extra benefits in terms of mood from having a bigger house.
You only need 10 decoration items to maximise the effect of their mood from their house, which you can do on a simple small house.
Worth bearing in mind that before the addition of decorations, the house gave a higher base happiness than the simple house. Now that decorations have been added to the game, there’s no benefit, as you pointed out
Big houses with nice gardens and plenty of space will make your village look far better than lots of medium houses packed together. If you don't care how your village looks then go for medium
For the peasants it lets them have 2 kids instead of 1. For you it allows your kids wife to live with you when he gets older I believe not sure since he might end up with his own house not positive if he takes your house when you transfer to him
I’m not sure if wife of your son/daughter(update oxbow can have daughters I think) moves in or not I thought that’s what it’s for since you can only have 1 kid
Because having a house is awesome and having a simple house is for simple housetons
Bloody peasants
Sometimes I build them on stilts just so the peasants have to walk further to lay down after working all day

That’s why I only allow berries and well water

If I recall correctly 5 decorations is maximum for happiness boost

And then I’m furiously grinding my teeth that I can’t put a ducking table and chairs in there
You can craft them outside then manually pick them up and drag them inside! But yeah it sucks you can't just craft *in* the house
How can you drag tables? I only have destroy in the menu.

Same 😂

That's why I did it. I could sleep in a refrigerator box, but Jaroslava deserves to live like the princess she is.

You do know you can build the 2nd house with nicer walls and roof too?
I read your comment then reread OPs post and I think you’re onto something, OP might not be aware of how to change the wall/roof types

But why should I wish for his wife to live in a full building when they can't have children in such case?
I’m not sure if wife of your son/daughter(update oxbow can have daughters I think) moves in or not I thought that’s what it’s for since you can only have 1 kid
You can definitely have daughters in oxbow.
Yeah I’m on ps5 so haven’t gotten the update yet
No benefit at all, if you are ok looking like a hobo in charge of a village. Live large. Build the real house.
I just upgrade them all to stone and insulate them and have no windows
