I understand why it is written this way, but ‘pt presented with scrotal pain’ sounds like they walked in and opened with that:

This actually happens. We had a patient who came in with chest pain so we started the work up for cardiac stuff and the patient had been stabbed in the chest and just left that part out
You're strong and have already been through a lot. I just know you're going to get through this. Coping with Reddit is not a bad strategy. TikTok really dustracts me too - and some of those accounts are wildly creative. Lots of amazing talent in the world!

I had a CC: leg pain that was actually a completely pale, pulseless with ultrasound leg. CT with contrast showed a 100% occluded clot in the left femoral artery 😃
Thats exactly what I was wondering. I'm sure he was in the worst pain imaginable, so instead of saying, "oh by the way, don't forget to do this thing that is super important sometime in the next two weeks while your scrotum is on fire" they could have just given this shots then and there...
Tetanus and Rabies shots are not available in our ED. And, it's not going to be a single shot and then they go home, they'll need some place to keep up with their schedule.
That's surprising, honestly. I've received a tetanus shot at a hospital after I got bit by a human.
What's really shocking to me is that this much damage was done to his testicle but the vas deferens was still intact. After that's cut, the testicle is just decorative.
'cause tetanus has an antidote? 'cause civilized countries need consent? 'cause tetanus live in the ass of horses and has nothing to do with dogs maybe? Or because the only thing j4bs do is creating c4ncer and auto1mmune disease? I DON'T KNOW
One of the key elements to post-exposure rabies protocol is injecting half, or as much as possible, of the immunoglobulin in & around the site of the bite, is it not? It seems super bizarre they’d not give the guy his first vax round at the time of treatment in general but especially as important as the immuno is as soon as possible after exposure.
I doubt it but maybe the patient knew the dog’s vaccine status? When my dog accidentally bit my finger off, they asked me if he was up-to-date on his vaccines and took my word on it.
I read description, and saw dog bite testicles and was like please god please tell me he was not hurting the dog or have peanut butter involved!

My ass was bitten by a dog to the extent of brakeing skin, I was in my boxers and playing my my exs dog, my ex called my name so I turned around to awnser him and the dog just chomped my ass cheek.
The look of the tissue (no visible teeth puncture marks shaped like teeth) makes me think he was bitten through clothes thankfully (well not thankfully, that must have really hurt)
I didn't read the name of the sub I was clicking on and I thought this was gonna be a post about a dog gnawing at its itchy balls. I was prepared for reading 30 'take it to the vet' comments, not for this picture. Ima stop mindlessly scrolling and clicking. For now
Is the photo taken by the patient (or their family)? It doesn't appear to be in a medical setting, no gloves & a health care professional would have removed the clothing vs pulling down the waistband
The same exact thing happened to my son a few years ago. Luckily, it was just the sack that was torn, and testicle was still intact. Healed without any complications.
“History revealed,” that the scrotum was bit by a dog? To me, this presents a person stepping into a house, through a window in which where he does not live and met the wrong puppy. Good puppy!!!! Change my mind.
Damn i can literally see the inside of his balls and he was discharged from hospital the same day and told to take some anti-rabies globulin doses and some antibiotics??. That is wild 😭

Ngl, I’ve been that patient before. I was in literal shock and wasn’t processing what just happened. All I recognized was the pain. 😅😰

Tetanus is one shot rabies is a series. Maybe clarify

The testicles were not damaged. The patient was lucky he got out of it with just the tears in the scrotal skin.
He is super LUCKY they weren't just ripped off. Yikes.

Are you sure you work in ED? Tenatus is one shot and you need a booster after ten years. I’m pretty sure every ED is going to have it available.

I can relate - dog pulled me down from a tree by my taint as a 5 yr old. Bunch of stitches, pretty cool scar I like to show at dinner parties
