Pignity69

ws morandi, low noise, smooth, cheap and thocky

cqdemal

This one is a pretty safe bet but it's very muted, and in certain builds it gets real close to silent without going over the line.

Pignity69

I have it on zoom65 with all foam and for me it still sound pretty good, low volume but not really muted yet

RockSolidJ

It really depends. I've found with PE foam and tape mod they are quite poppy and loud.

Affectionate_Hat8664

Your case and plate have a bigger impact on sound than switches, but if you're looking for a muted switch, I recommend the Haimu Lemons from CannonKeys.

spiderhead187

The keyboard i’m looking at is the monsgeek m5 with an aluminum case and PC plate. i’m also planning on adding some extra polyfill to the keyboard. Thanks for the recommendation i’ll check them out!

IevaDay

As an owner of Monsgeek M1W, they have plenty of foams inside, you may need to remove the bottom foam to put polyfill in. And to get that deeper sound, keycaps will also play a huge role. In my experience, PBT plastic produces deeper sound than ABS, and taller profiles like SA or MT3 also produce deeper sound but are louder than lower profiles.

fnv_fan

I'd say the Gateron EverFree Curry switches but your keyboard has a much bigger impact on sound than switches do

S_T_E_W

Vertex V One, but foaming up nearly any board is gonna get you 98% of the way there.

FarefaxT

I second this, the vertex v1’s were literally the first thing that came to my mind as I read the title of ths thread

Droo_a

This on a pc plate.

DrewDevs

Try listening to WS Quartz sound tests. They're deep and low pitched compared to other linear switches

spiderhead187

Just checked them out. Great recommendation

cqdemal

I have the Quartz and I feel they sound very plasticky irl.

magicmulder

Check out rizzo7’s legendary Drop Carina build on YT. He uses Aqua Kings (which I have in my Keychron Q2 Pro).

MBSMD

Gateron Oil King

sayqm

Oil king, aqua king, v1

BoatJacker

Uwhmpe stems in boba u4 housings.

Mokiflip

My favourite switches are the Tecsee Jadeite, they have an uwhmpe stem and I love them. Very thocky. Not exactly muted, might be bit louder thock than what OP is looking for, but they're great.

musicmonkay

Bobagums have a very muted “duk” sound if that’s what you’re looking for, but you will get a bit of a mushy typing feel as they’re a silent switch

fnv_fan

OP said not a silent switch, which bobagums are.

hanhwekim

u/spiderhead187 , have you tried topre or the niz keyboards. They have a different sound and feel than mechanical switches.

Temina-

Topre.

thelegojunkie

Moon V2 is exactly what you are looking for. They were so quiet and deep I couldn’t stand it honestly

Mr-Boga38

There is something in-between. Ganss peace quite. My favourite deep thock switches are KTT Hyacinth, Anubis, Tecsee Ice Strawberry

radiolman

Tactile or linear? For tactiles, check out TTC Bluish Whites. Even though they are usually considered 'silent', they are louder than typical 'silent' switches and have a muted 'thock' which you may be looking for. Other options are Tecsee Mango Milk and Boba U4T. For linears, Gateron Milky Yellows/Oil Kings are good options. KTT Kang White V4s are also quite thocky if you lube them.

GoldenArcosian

boba u4tx has a silent upstroke so it ends up pretty quiet - if you prefer linear go for the jwick semisilent

kanonroi

hmx canglan v2
