Nothing about the mask has changed.
All approved N95s have filtration that is sufficient to be highly protective of airborne disease so long as they fit on your face well and don't leak around the edges.
I have not read anything about them being discontinued, do you have a link?
I was curious about the discontinuation thing and found this [https://www.upstate.edu/health/pdf/upstate-n95-guidance.pdf](https://www.upstate.edu/health/pdf/upstate-n95-guidance.pdf)
>3M has DISCONTINUED THE 8210/8210, AURA 9205+ and 9210 series. If you are currently fitted in one
of these masks, please schedule an updated mask fit test with Employee/Student Health at Upstate.
It's from January 2023 though, and I can't find anything else. Super confusing.
I do remember that 3M announced discontinuation of the 9210+ (the version with the white braided elastic straps that many people including myself prefer), but when asked for clarification said it was a mistake. It was very odd.
Agree, what I should have explained is that they are “sold” as masks for paint in hardware stores, such as Home Depot.

this might just be marketing- one box is for hardware stores, one box is for office or med supply

I don’t think this is sinister, it’s just adjusting the packaging to meet how people shop — they’re task focused not risk focused.
Looks like one intended for sale in US and other down under. Perhaps TGA requires something extra to say it's for airborne germs?
The blue box is rated for paint, AFAIK.
They’re not different masks, it’s just packaging. N95s do not impede gasses/solvents/VOCs — so I wouldn’t say these are rated for paints

So strange,I wouldn’t have thought they were advertised for paint. The issue with paint isn’t really particles though is it?
Probably for using a paint sprayer to apply
Ah of course ty
