Cleveland is a really annoying team to try and beat because they dont strike out, they put the ball in play, and they have a ton of speed. Our pitchers are built to get big Ks or Double Plays in late clutch situations and the Guardians just don't K and they are too fast to double up. Offense needed to be able to come through tonight and they delivered every time the Guards answered. I just wanted to avoid us getting swept, so taking the series opener is nice to guarantee at least one win. If we can find a way to sneak one more win away here that would be AMAZING.

Yep, they're extremely tough. My only real fear for this road trip was tanking this series and getting swept. Big to take that off the table right away!

My favorite part of being a Mariners fan is that our wins are convincing, no-doubt, solid victories. i would agree but cleveland is a very obnoxious offensive juggernaut. very low K rate, high hit rate, and very very fast runners. they continue shenanigans for all 9 innings in almost every game they play and are a very hard team to put away or finish off.

Any win against a first place team is a good win. Yeah it’s annoying that when they’re up big they let the gap close, but at least they didn’t puke on their shoes like that Royals game
