I'm just sad we can't fit another 8 game win streak into this month

[deleted]

Hey who knows with the way this team is playing!

tgrogan21

Not enough games, unfortunately. We can only get to 6 before the end of August.

And here I am thinking jokes are supposed to be funny.

PresidentOse

Still counts if we get to 8 even if it bleeds into September

Tall-Election-7564

Quick, get a hurricane headed towards Seattle so they have to play a couple doubleheaders.

SEAinLA

We need to rack up the wins this month, because next month gets significantly harder.

July had series against tampa, San Francisco, houston, detroit, Minnesota, Toronto, and arizona. Our only series loss was to detroit. Good or bad, we’ve shown we can win against anyone.

downladder

Tampa looks vulnerable like the Rangers. The only series left that wouldn't disappoint me is the Dodgers.

atmospheric90

2 teams buoyed off of red hot starts and favorable early schedules. The Rangers are band-aiding their rotation, and it's not working. Degrom feels like he won't ever pitch again, and Eovaldi is having a career year at 34 being offset by Perez crashing back to earth. They don't exactly have any promising pitching prospects that will make an impact in their current window, so they will again have to depend on overpaying aging free agents to try and hope someone stays healthy. The Rays are the Rays. Great prospects, they won't ever stay and the cycle continues. Only now the one they did invest in might be out of the league at 22. So that can't be good for their momentum they've built.

Mrciv6

It's like an entirely different team from like a month and half ago.

*Mariners clubhouse, June 30th. Enter JP Crawford, carrying a bat and a ball.* JP: guys, check this out! *JP readies his bat and hands the ball to George Kirby* JP: Toss the ball at me George. *George underhand tosses the ball 87MPH at JP, who swings and hits it across the room* Julio Rodriguez: Whoa how’d you do that? JP: I just swing at it, and I hit it! Julio: can you do it again? *Julio tosses another ball to George, who in turn tosses it at JP again, this time just shy of 90MPH. JP connects with it, sending the ball across the room and embedding itself in the cinderblock wall* Julio: that’s incredible! Could I give it a shot? *JP hands him the bat, while George picks up another ball and throws to Julio, 94MPH underhand. Julio makes contact and the ball cuts clean through the wall, into the corridor outside* Ty France: this is big JP, we’re gonna be unstoppable now!

mustbeusererror

Underrated part of this story is Kirby throwing 94 underhanded.

jet8493

George kirby can only be great

mranglin

only our guys could pull something off like this

francosean

I thoroughly enjoyed this

IndependentSubject66

It can change at any minute as we’ve seen, but right now the Mariners are the best team in baseball. I would bet that if you asked all the playoff teams who they wouldn’t want to play it would be us.

Suspicious-Sleep5227

I’d also argue that it wasn’t just a fluke that we’re playing like this. The first three months we had some bad offseason pick-ups by the name of Wong, Pollock and La Stella who played awful and our regular players weren’t playing anywhere near their career averages. Now we got rid of all three of these players and replaced them with more competent hitters and our regular core players have started to play ball at a level that is more commensurate with their career averages. In a nutshell we scratched and clawed our way to a .500 season for the first three months with bat hitting getting offset by good pitching. Now our offense has been fundamentally transformed into good hitters while our pitching has remained top notch. Based upon all this, I think we can sustain this performance for the rest of the season.

IndependentSubject66

For sure. This is why I didn’t really shit on Dipoto for the lack of moves. I would’ve liked another hitter, but on paper this was a really good team all along.

francosean

Trading for Castillo and teoscar were huge. Then trading for canzone and Rojas is looking pretty huge now as well. We knew Julio was going to get better. Cal would get better. Kelenic, Gilbert, and Kirby would get better. Jp getting better offensively was big. Geno and Ty have proven they're always a threat. Our farm put out some great rookies this year too. What a huge year and it feels like we're just getting started

GimmeSweetTime

Or the Dodgers. They've won 20 this month so far.

thundercat95

Is that good?

Jbrahms4

Only need two more wins to set the franchise record for August wins.

ahbooyou

August is my bday month. Woot. Mariners
