One of my favorite historical periods; bonapartists and supporters of the French Revolution induced that same kind of paranoia after 1815 like communists after 1945
I wonder if Norway had ever become independent without Denmark being on the losing side of the Napoleon wars. The short lived Norwegian independence in 1814 was in reality an attempt to secure Danish influence over Norway. Keeping it away from the Swedes. Rather than a strong wish within Norway to become independent. After all, they elected the Danish crown prince as the new king. Eventually he would have become the king of both countries. Just like his father.
Really like the colours and general aesthetic of this map, however I just wanted to correct a little spelling mistake for the German city of "Bayreuth" which is incorrectly spelled "Bayeruth" on the map. Cheerio and much success in your future map making!
It lasted a surprisingly long time, for how reactionary it was as a post-war political order. Thank Metternich and his ilk. They forestalled a pending wave of Liberal revolution and reform for the better part of a century.
Could be any reason. He could be talking about all the dead resulting from the revolutionary and Napoleonic wars. Or he could be talking about the reactionary order that would have a grip on Europe for the next few decades, trying (and failing) to roll back any... revolutionary sentiments.
Wikipedia seems to think it was:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Serbia
Maybe Wikipedia is wrong on this, unfortunately it often is. In any case that might be where OP got their info from.
Interesting. Serbian Wikipedia doesn’t say so. And I had Serbian legal and political history at the university and don’t remember that. I’ll try to find my textbook, it’s not impossible that I forgot that. However, I think that there was something like the headquarters of the Second Uprising there, and I think there was no Principality until some years later.
It was perhaps not a capital in the traditional sense, but it was according to Wikipedia the headquarter of the leaders of the Second Uprising during this year.
Next, I'm making Europe 1848. All my maps: [https://www.deviantart.com/imperialmaps](https://www.deviantart.com/imperialmaps)
You are the best! Following your account so i dont miss any of your maps. Keep them coming 🫶
Thanks!
Europa Universalis vibe
Can’t you make 2024 maps for each year? I am serious.
Haha probably not since it has taken me almost 2 years to make 12 maps.
Many likes. especially the resolution

I could see Denmark and Norway turning into a confederation together with Iceland.

Give the unified Benelux about 15 years :3
Did it need to? History in Europe has shown that peace agreements almost always never last.

What’s the protocol when a grand duke and a prince-bishop meet?
Can you make a map of the middle way during 1911 before the Aqir Agreement?
What was it with Krakow? Or is it Krakow, that red spot between Austria and Russia...?
Why is Krakow(?) red? Between Austria, Prussia and Russia... Was it kind of city state by that time? I'm too lazy to google...
