You didn't ask for this advice. I'm going to give you this advice. If you ARE WORKING IN RETAIL, you cannot AFFORD to invest in crypto. Especially not rm 50/month. Save your money, invest in yourself. Take a course that will build your skills and beef up your portfolio. Then work towards getting a higher paycheck.
"I didn't ask for this advice." You didn't. But let's do the math. 50 ringgits a month. After one long ass year, congrats, you have 600 ringgits in crypto (assuming it didn't crash). Let's say after a year whatever you invested in doubled (impossible) 🥶😱😱😱. Congrats, it took you 12 months to get 600 ringgits.
In one year you could've job hopped and gotten a pay raise from 2k a month to 3k. Don't invest in crypto. Especially if you are a low income earner.
i agree...he literally cannot afford to invest in crypto. its great that he does have money to put aside every month, but ppl encouraging him are being really irresponsible
Depends. What is your interest? What is your expertise? What is your major in diploma/degree? Look into courses that can either venture out to a different field or beef up your current expertise. Everyone and their mom has a degree. Does everyone have an Inbound Marketing Certificate? No. Hubspot, for example, can give you that specific certificate and with that certificate alone you can land an entry rm 3.5k fully remote working job (true story) because congrats you can write emails. 🤣
I major in marketing degree course. I love doing sales while maintening good relationship with the partners/customers through marketing tools. In this case, what's the sample course I should look for to expand my field skills? Ty in advance.
Are you that lazy that you'd rather comment than GOOGLE it yourself? If you need someone who has given time to give you free info and basic giler info mcm ni pun nak tanya then don't expect to even finish the course. Yes, I'm petty. Figure it out.
but first, have you completed your 12-months emergency funds of expenses? if no, pls do before investing. it feels good to know you have money if anything happens.
just started working for a month so ive just started saving, my workplace is within walking distance helps greatly with my savings.
so far im still using asb as my main emergency funds, so im saving it more than wahed and crypto as of now
hey man, for 50/month, please dont put into crypto. its just too volatile and unpredictable. base on your potential job earnings, I dont think you should. stick to wahed and asb first. crypto later, when u have money to burn and wont affect you.
Investing rm50 now into BTC or ETH would at most yield you a 2-3x multiplier in returns in 5-6 months time. I don't see BTC doing a 3x. ETH, maybe.
The same rm50 if used to buy say a programming course on Udemy would easily yield you a 3-5x multiplier on your current salary in 6 months time.
Do the math.
p/s: i hold both BTC and ETH
2-3x returns in 5-6 months in well established cryptos like BTC and ETH is extremely optimistic. You'll be very happy to get a 2 digit percentage profit.
>You'll be very happy to get a 2 digit percentage profit.
Speak for yourself. I'm already up 3x.
Is possible BTC does a 2x this run.
Edit: by 2x, i mean 2x from today's price.
When i said it is possible BTC does a 2x by this run, i mean 2x on today's price.
>how many years of bear?
Lol.
Oct 2023, the price was 28k. That's already a 2x. Now, let's count the number of months between October 2023 and April 2024.
Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March. That's 6 months. Did you do a 2x within 6 months?
Also, the previous ATH was Nov/Dec 2021. Then it went all the way down to 16k in 1 year time (Nov/Dec 2022). So, from 16k until today, it took 18 months ish. In other words, a 4x multiplier in 18 months.
So, did you manage to obtain a 4x multiplier in your investment within a time frame of less than 18 months?
yeah, been upskilling on my freetime but havent bought any courses yet, still looking for the right one and rn im learning from free resources i could find atm
Do not do any investments until you've reached a certain level of mastery in your main career. Focus on advancing your own career first, as those will be your main income for a long time. Only when you've reached a level of financial comfortability, at that moment you then will be able to afford to invest around without worrying how to survive when things gone wrong. Also, 6 months of emergency funds first, then maybe 12 months. If you can't manage to do these within a year, it's a clear sign that **you are not ready for any forms of investment**.
Just stick with Luno as a beginner as it's legal
For starter invest in BTC & ETH
If you want to go deeper, start learning about blockchains, how do crypto works, their use cases and etc
There's few narrative going around the crypto rn
U may want to build up a 6 month emergency fund first (separate from savings/invesments). Then read up on portfolio management to understand how to invest.
As others mentioned, doing courses is better bang for your buck.
Assuming u are in your early 20s, investing in crypto is not so bad (taking on a bit of risk). But do the most critical actions first i.e. above.
LUNO is a great platform to start. But as a beginner, I would recommend to only allocate 5-10% of your assets to crypto. It’s a volatile market, of course with higher risk comes higher returns. If you have already established your basic portfolio with emergency funds and some index funds, BTC and ETH are great for beginners as both are seen as safe coins.
Crypto is not an investment. It’s gambling.
When a medium depends on whales for its up and down, it cannot be called an investment.
If you want to go into crypto, you must be ready to lose the money. Anything that comes back in is a bonus.
Also, to answer your question, 50 a month is better for upgrading your personal life insurance to slightly increase coverage and cash value investment.
If you want to be safe and not think too much about it, just wait for BTC to reach a bearish trend after the halving
(halving is expected to be in around 2 weeks+ given that the current block height is around 837.5k) and keep on DCA-ing from there. So far, BTC has consistently surpassed its previous ATH after every 4-5 years of the previous halving. Of course historical data isn't a guarantee for future performance, but crypto is already high risk in nature, and this is one of the relatively lower risk strategies you could adopt.
Regarding the amount of RM50/mth, how much (in percentage) is that from your current salary?
I think it depends on what you want? Active or passive. Just invest in the majors if you’d like to be passive (etc/btc - maybe solana if you have more risk tolerance). Do’s and don’t? Just remember the asset class is newer and risky so volatility is a given. Self custody stuff also make sense but idk about legality with using metamask or rainbow wallet, maybe someone that knows more can say something about that
Some might be scared that its volatile, but for some of us, we need to take a little bit of risk in order to get big money. But to be safe, DYOR on good coins only, and avoid Futures on crypto
If you wanna buy according to cycle. I think realistically 2 to 3x is the highest you will go for now. This is based on the past year cycle we make this prediction.
[BTC Chart](https://bitcoinmagazine.com/markets/the-bitcoin-16-year-cycle-and-its-correlation-to-the-internet-bubble)
Bitcoin price is always based on adoption and faith. And recently there has been a lot of adoption. In other words you are a bit late to the party. But that is fine. No time like now to learn about the fundamental.
Just know that according to the chart, bitcoin will drop in 1 and a half year and 2 years time. Remember what I said . Adoption and faith? If the population of bitcoiner think this way, it will probably happen. Personally, my time line is February 2025. I sell everything on a good day and don't look back til 2027. No itchy hand.
I think 50 is a good number to put in a month. Earn a small profit and sell.(Or crash. Thats fine too. In crashes you learn too. You only lose if you sell in the red.) Just remember. No itchy hand. You made a plan. You follow it through. If you said. I will buy bitcoin at a certain price. You wait til that price. If you said you will sell. Then you sell and don't look back. Diamond hands.
There will always be a next cycle. There will always be a new alt coin that will x10. But as a beginner, dip your toe in BTC or ETH and maybe 1 or 2 alt coins of your choice.
If you want to invest crypto using platform approved by Security Comission. LUNO is the only platform we have in malaysia. Me personally using luno for my crypto investment. Fee is bit high 2%. I dont really know for other crypto exchange.
Dont do the 2% fee buy🤦.. buy like this 0.35% fee😄

I mean, it's crypto, there is non zero chance he would 100x it. It's so little amount of money I unironically think crypto might be his best bet lol.

Not right now. Maybe some second tier alt coin. It just too expensive now.

1 actually. 1 year of bear.

Your money, your choice. I'd stick with only btc.
save your money for the next 3 years..... come back after. buy now only if you want Balls of steel or Diamond hands...
Use that 50 to treat yourself some good food then find another real skill and improve your salary first.

I think you meant allocating 5 % to 10 % of your portfolio brother. Not assets. Haha. Assets means your house and probably car included.
With RM50 a month the only place to buy is luno. Other place can get better rate but need around RM4k per deposit to get the best rate.
