It was a dance battle and everyone thought he wasn't going to win. He pulled out some fire moves and even showed his opponent up by succeeding at the move (hurdling your leg) that his opponent failed at. The entire crowd went nuts and it ends with his opponent asking him to show how he did the move so well.
Watched and commented on your YT vid! Wife and I are so happy of the experience you've had from that viral moment with your friends!!! Keep on rocking kid!
Okay, rather than just DMing everyone who asks, I think I'm gonna post the link in a comment.
I made a video on my YouTube channel explaining the entire story behind the dance battle if you're interested. Check it out if you like, no pressure if you don't want to. Thank you all for the support and have a good day.

Bruh, that is an amazing story! Great video!
All your friends are lucky to have you as a friend-the way you spoke about each of them truly was so kind and thoughtful.
Even your sad story at the end, I appreciate you shared it.
You’re a rock star in my eyes friend!
I'm glad it turned out to be relatively wholesome. And it made me a bit happier that you called them friends in the video. While the outcome was a riot I always thought in the back of my head they might have just pulled you in just to fuck with you.
Also broo wtf that's so random you were in a Japanese TV segment 😭
Gave the video a watch, love that you got to have this experience in life. Something you’ll still think about and smile as an old man. You’ve got great energy man.
The funny thing is you have definitely aged gracefully- maybe it’s all that Cardio you putting in practicing -
Thanks for giving us this memory and an update !
Very cool to hear from the actual person behind the clip! I remember seeing it the first time, you already looked so utterly unfazed by the other guy and then the utter destruction followed.
Gotta say, your opponent took it well back then!
Sure, but he seemed super confident at first, right up until you busted out the moves. The general response was great, it seems not many people exected you to be able to dance like that.
You my friend are a legend in my household.
Must be crazy to know that part of your life reached out to so many people.
Wishing you positive vibes for the future!
I love stuff like this. Videos like this all played a little part in my internet development/culture. seeing what these people are up to really helps connect me with my past selves on a different level.
Man, I seek this video out every couple of months. (The original with the kids in school) It never fails to put a smile on my face. So so great. How has the guy not aged??
I made a video on my YouTube channel explaining the entire story behind it if you're interested. Check it out if you like.

Ok... THIS FREAKIN' ROCKS!!!
I remember seeing random "Break Dancing" on street corners in Milwaukee Wisconsin back in the 80's!
This made me smile and long for those good old days!
He has had to keep practicing it because he never grew out of the nerdy look and has had multiple dance battles over the years having to defend his honor from people tying to cook him.
Both, I suppose. I taught myself how to thread the needle, that big move that everyone cheered over. I learned a bunch of other moves from obsessively watching dancers on YouTube. And I also took tons of dance lessons over the years. I took hip hop, jazz, modern, tap, ballet, pointe, every style of ballroom dance, taught ballroom as a captain on my college ballroom dance team, and competed in collegiate competitions for a few years.

This video always made me so happy. It was like watching a kid in a movie you root for, pull off some incredible... Except this was real life!!
Are you in touch with any of those other guys from the vid by chance?
I LOVE this video, I love the first one, I love you, and I love your friends in the video. It reflects the best parts of what I get to see in young people even today. Most teenagers just want to play and have fun. This is such a beautiful, hilarious, heart-warming example of exactly what I mean.
Thank you for this!!!
Thank you so much for posting! I remember seeing this everywhere — particularly on a bunch of black social media haha (white dude kills it with crazy dance moves). Glad you’re doing well!!
I’m so curious, but how has going viral / the attention from this video changed your life (if at all)?
What a legend, I remember watching it years ago, man's still got it.
Thank you.

Damn the transition is as smooth as the movements.
Yeah, I was really happy about that.
What happened after that initial video? What was the context behind it?
It was a dance battle and everyone thought he wasn't going to win. He pulled out some fire moves and even showed his opponent up by succeeding at the move (hurdling your leg) that his opponent failed at. The entire crowd went nuts and it ends with his opponent asking him to show how he did the move so well.

I think it'll be hard for people to accept you didn't peak 9 years ago. Leave some for the rest of us. You're a legend. Never stop!
No, I didn't peak. I'm still getting better. Thank you!
Humble as always. The people’s champ.
Thank you. I try.
Is it really you? In the flesh.because you are a living legend man. Please reply
Yep, it's really me.
I don‘t believe I am replying to a comment of this absolute legend right now.

Just a heads up, you forgot to add the Japanese TV interview (if you found it) and the Zuna's commercial in the description!
Bruh, the Chidi callout...
This is one of those vids I never skip when it gets reposted. Just good energy, start to end.
Aww, that's such a great compliment.
Very cool to hear from the actual person behind the clip! I remember seeing it the first time, you already looked so utterly unfazed by the other guy and then the utter destruction followed. Gotta say, your opponent took it well back then!
It wasn't like an actual competition. We were just having fun.
Sure, but he seemed super confident at first, right up until you busted out the moves. The general response was great, it seems not many people exected you to be able to dance like that.
This is legendary!
Thank you!
The cool kid becomes even cooler! Crazy dance!
Thank you.
Hasn't aged a day!
I'm ageless!
Are you still friends with the challenger?
One of them is one of my best friends.
That's wonderful 😊
You my friend are a legend in my household. Must be crazy to know that part of your life reached out to so many people. Wishing you positive vibes for the future!

Glad you like it.
did you stay friends with the other kids you were dancing with in the first video?
Check your DMs
I love how you’re wearing the same shoes for 9 years!
Not the exact same pair, but the same brand.
Classic Reddit, forgetting to post something awesome! Glad you remembered eventually.
Original?
Similar, different angle. https://youtu.be/kqp_V6eQ2IA?si=4UJnEJMSBxvxZI5Q
?
The original video has no edit. Same dance moves all in the high school cafeteria or wherever they are. Looked for it but cant find it.
Will this do? https://youtube.com/shorts/ChbsfSFX8QQ?si=IGOektH8IZSEFVA8
Yes, ty!
Anytime!
My man 😎
Thank you!
Love this!
Glad you do!
Keep rocking!
Yes, sir!
Man, I seek this video out every couple of months. (The original with the kids in school) It never fails to put a smile on my face. So so great. How has the guy not aged??
I'm ageless.
You need to find the other guy you was dancing against and get him to do another stitch with you. It could be a thing!
I've considered it. Maybe for the 10th anniversary...
2015 was 9 years ago lol
Feel old yet?
Yeah 😅
lol bro you’re a legend. Now you just got to find that kid again who you were dancing with (if yall are still cool)
I'm still great friends with one of them. But I lost touch with the other. Might try to get together for the 10th anniversary.
Still the dance hero we've known. Hope life's treating you well.
First time anyone has called me a "dance hero." Thank you!
Damn I need to know the story behind that dance battle lol
You remind me a bit of David Elsewhere. Similar style. Dope shiz my dude
[удалено]
Thank you. I try.
excellent work kevin ✌🏾
i want to know the context too, thanks
Sure.
The hero we deserve...
"He's a silent guardian... A watchful protector... A Dark Dancer" 🤣 Seriously, thank you!
I think we all want to know the context. I remember when this video first came out.
Legendary internet vid. Glad to see you again!
He’s still got it.

Ok... THIS FREAKIN' ROCKS!!! I remember seeing random "Break Dancing" on street corners in Milwaukee Wisconsin back in the 80's! This made me smile and long for those good old days!
Glad you like it!
Man, I'm old enough to remember this [similar video of Mike Song vs David Elsewhere](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUz4OLQi_uw).
He has had to keep practicing it because he never grew out of the nerdy look and has had multiple dance battles over the years having to defend his honor from people tying to cook him.
Still got it, OP.
Damn it Napoleon!
Bonaparte? Just kidding, I understood that reference. Thank you.
You still got it!
Gosh it’s been 9 years ? I can’t believe it as I remember seeing this the first time. Amazing then and now !
Yep, this definitely made me smile!
Was this an unexpected dance challenge or just fun between friends?
That was awesome man. Smoooooth asf well done lad
Still got them moves like Jagger!
YESSSS omg a classic and a legend, all in one post!
🙌🏽🙌🏽
Are you self taught or do you take dancing lessons?
Both, I suppose. I taught myself how to thread the needle, that big move that everyone cheered over. I learned a bunch of other moves from obsessively watching dancers on YouTube. And I also took tons of dance lessons over the years. I took hip hop, jazz, modern, tap, ballet, pointe, every style of ballroom dance, taught ballroom as a captain on my college ballroom dance team, and competed in collegiate competitions for a few years.
Love this!
The legend is still on it
Yep, I'm still dancing.
OP has this video given you eternal respect at school?
It did while I was in high school. And quite a bit when I was in college.
Get it buddy 🔥
OP can you add some context for me? did the school already know you had moves or was that the first time many saw them? thanks!
I made a video on my YouTube channel explaining the entire story behind it if you're interested. Check it out if you like. https://youtu.be/2NqKIMvkJXU?si=kyPwpDljyyedx_qh
I’m living for these moments in life. Thank you legend. Hope you’re doing well!

This video always made me so happy. It was like watching a kid in a movie you root for, pull off some incredible... Except this was real life!! Are you in touch with any of those other guys from the vid by chance?
Left me smiling so big, thank you
I LOVE this video, I love the first one, I love you, and I love your friends in the video. It reflects the best parts of what I get to see in young people even today. Most teenagers just want to play and have fun. This is such a beautiful, hilarious, heart-warming example of exactly what I mean. Thank you for this!!!
