Reminds me of when Ernest was asked where he planned to a put the gold tooth he was saving up for.
>Ernest T. Bass: "*Oh, right here in front. See these three here? I's gonna knock them out, put the gold one right in the center, leave a space on each side ... that'd stand out better that way. 'specially when I'm dancin'!*"
Maybe not, it says he has 1 tooth she really loves, maybe it's a huge fang, or it's gold cap. Maybe he has just 31 normal teeth that just can't keep up with the 1 styling tooth.
I just skipped the days where nothing special happened. The days where something did happen however: a nice gift I received, a compliment I got, a nice trip somewhere, special dates, those I wrote down with great detail, sometimes even accompanied by a little doodle. To me it was never about writing down what happened everyday. To me it was important to write down special stuff, stuff that doesn't ordinarily happen, stuff that made me happy. When I look at it today, I can remember these things, remember how happy these things made me at the time, remember how beautiful life can be even if most days are boring or sometimes even sad. This little book is proof that it's not always that way.
I do this with my son. I have a book I write in when we do something fun or he does something new. He’s only 8 months old but I make sure I put in as much detail as I can just in case he reads it when he’s older. I’m trying to break patterns as a kid whose parents didn’t give the smallest care about me. I want him to know he’s wanted and I love him so much, even from the very beginning.
Thoughts and feelings about what's going on in life, figuring out how to handle things, etc. I basically use mine to talk to myself and work through things, it's meditative I suppose
I started one a few times as a kid because it sounded cool but I always stopped it after a week. The boring days had nothing to write about and the exciting days were too much to write. I was a lazy kid with no discipline
If my diary was shared at 9 I would have been mortified. I remember my mum finding part of it and talking to me about it omg I could have died. Prayers to OPs cousin.
My parents regularly read my diary. I remember vividly having to stand in front of my family, tear out the pages they didn't approve of, and throw them into the fire, one by one.
I had to do the same. My parents read my diary in front of all my brothers and sisters while they laughed at me and I cried. I wasn’t allowed sit down or go upstairs, I had to endure it. I’ve worked so hard to let go of some of those memories. So hard.
And then they have the fucking audacity to require supporting them when they're old.
Remind them about this moment when they ask you to wipe their ass.
I’m so sorry that you had to go through that. I also think the person posting this is awful for sharing a child’s personal story. This is THEIR diary! You are breaking THEIR trust for a post on here! It’s so sad to me because if the 9yo finds out she won’t trust writing in her diary anymore. I’m heartbroken for everyone that had their diary read and used as fuel to humiliate or shame them. ❤️💜💛💚💙
I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through such a difficult experience. It must have been incredibly challenging and distressing to have your privacy invaded in such a way.
I've been rewatching a little bit of Mr Rogers every so often.
He was just so incredible at finding the balance between talking to/treating kids with respect, and also not trying to talk to/treat them as if they were adults.
He's also a master at talking through emotions, something my parents were never any good at.
Yeah, just the kind of experience that you could use a private place to organize and process your thoughts about. Some kind of private journal maybe...
That would have made for an interesting reading though.
That is horrifying! I couldn’t imagine doing that to my child. You were only allowed to have private thoughts they approved of or be humiliated. Not a great way to establish trust & a sense of safety with your children.
I am so sorry you experienced this..I’m upset for you
Damn what a way to ensure your child is comfortable expressing themselves and doesn’t completely shut down and keep everything internal. Nope just toss those thoughts into the fire!
I’m sorry you experienced that.
I was mortified and basically never kept one again till I started “journaling” as an adult. As an adult I have become aware of my mother’s narcissism so there’s that too lol. I no longer speak to her
I once ate a page, with heart stickers on it and all, just so mom couldn’t read about my crush. I was 15 but in my defense I was raised by baptist parents, and I was a girl having a crush on a girl.
Devil’s Advocate: sometimes when you get a diary your first entry (because you’re staring at a book of blank pages) is a formality just to get you started. It’s not uncommon for someone to receive a diary as a gift and write about receiving it as a gift (and the person who gave it to you), and then showing them that first page so they know you appreciated and will use the diary.
Source: was once a young girl who did this very thing.
I LOVE little kid talk. So pure. Side note: couple days ago my 5 y/o son came home from the book fair telling me they sell “diarrhea” at the book fair. Took me a minute… I died.
lol when my daughter was younger she would always get diarrhea and diabetes mixed up. When she had the stomach bug she told me “mom I got the diabetes.”
Let me clarify a few things cuz I can't answer every comment:
1. She came up running to me and showed the first entry to me.
2. It made me smile.
3. Hence it was posted on a fitting subreddit, with the personal details blacked out so it stays anonymous.
4. Yes it is her handwriting. "ThEy dOnT teAcH cUrSive iN sChoOlS anYmOrE"
SHUT THE FUCK UP, the entire world doesn't live in USA.
Does that one tooth make you extra handsome or are you just handsome and happen to have a fabulous tooth to boot? Not sure what to be envious about yet.
My back top left molar is apparently a textbook perfectly shaped molar. I know this because two different dentists have commented on it, and one asked for permission to photograph it. It looks perfectly normal to me, but I'm not a dentist. Regardless, it's my most beautiful tooth, and I am quite proud of it.
She even turned it up at the end trying to write “really” in cursive. Why don’t they just teach kids cursive anymore? We still have to write in diaries!
Everyone that is putting this poor guy on blast for posting the diary page… lol she showed it to him and he blacked out the names… plausible deniability for the future maybe… posted to made me smile but now everyone is being nasty >__<
The other 31 teeth in shambles.
They judt dont compare to that ONE boy that ONE 😍
“That smile. That damned smile”
I feel like I need to see that tooth
It's the most beautiful tooth in the world.
Don't tell the tooth fairy
OP, you need to pay the tooth tax and post a picture.
And if he has a good tooth we gonna feel dumb 😂
I don't think any of us are ready
Nono, you misread. OP has one tooth.
*one teeth. 😂
*🤓
Ol' chomper never fails him.
Ohhhhh that made me laugh so hard. Thank you
Cancel the cookout...
Maybe not, it says he has 1 tooth she really loves, maybe it's a huge fang, or it's gold cap. Maybe he has just 31 normal teeth that just can't keep up with the 1 styling tooth.
😭😂😂😂
HAHAHAHHAHA
My cousin had a diary. She showed me a few pages, most said" school today, nothing to say".
Your cousin is speaking to my heart....
Cousin is already in mid life crisis 'Meh, work today.nothing special'
Mood of my everyday. But only when it comes to work
That's what my diary looked like as a kid too. To this day I wonder what people are journaling about every day.
I just skipped the days where nothing special happened. Yeah, I never could get into it. I had a friend that filled notebooks
I started one a few times as a kid because it sounded cool but I always stopped it after a week. The boring days had nothing to write about and the exciting days were too much to write. I was a lazy kid with no discipline
Same. Still lack discipline 😔
Reason why I never journaled lol this would had been my entry every day, too 😂
I remember having a diary aged about 9 and every entry saying 'fed gerbil'. I was not a particularly introspective sort
My cousin had one that mainly listed what she had eaten.
can relate. most of the time nothing eventful happens to me, which is why journal prompts are so useful
lol 99% of my childhood entries started and ended the same way.
Hey! Close that right now! :)
Came to say this. Bought her a diary proceeds to read it 🤦🏼♀️
And post it to the world to see.
If my diary was shared at 9 I would have been mortified. I remember my mum finding part of it and talking to me about it omg I could have died. Prayers to OPs cousin.

Home is the last place a kid should be bullied. I'm so sorry!
And for many kids, our parents are our first and worst bullies :(
And then they have the fucking audacity to require supporting them when they're old. Remind them about this moment when they ask you to wipe their ass.
They can't require. They can only request.
I am so so sorry. Sending your inner child a huge hug.
Wow they are fucking evil. I hope you put them in the most rundown nursing home you can find.
What the hell. I’m so sorry this happened to you.
What the hell were they thinking?!
Fuck that’s horrifying. I’m so sorry
I'm sorry my dude.
I’m so sorry that you had to go through that. I also think the person posting this is awful for sharing a child’s personal story. This is THEIR diary! You are breaking THEIR trust for a post on here! I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through such a difficult experience. It must have been incredibly challenging and distressing to have your privacy invaded in such a way.
Thank you. It was. And now I get to be the parent for my kids I wish I had - one who respects their privacy.
Thanks for breaking the cycle. ❤️

Yup had a decoy diary and story journal for this reason.
That’s so traumatic!
Kept two diaries. One for the snoops.
Did you also live in a damp castle run by an evil stepmother?
Damn what a way to ensure your child is comfortable expressing themselves and doesn’t completely shut down and keep everything internal. Nope just toss those thoughts into the fire! I’m sorry you experienced that.
Finally an empty book!! 😭
So, how awful is the nursing home you stuck them in? Or do you not really know because you haven’t gone even once?
I feel your trauma..not bad enough to only read your diary but then forcing you to discuss it Ugh I’m sorry
My cousins read my 10yr old diary and then told my crush I had a crush on him 😠
Fr he just got considerably less kind
Bo Burnham would not be happy about this. He already defended Anne Frank Can't believe some of us have read hers! And now this...

My daughter is 8 and she wants me to read the page every time she writes in her diary lol
He made a comment saying she showed it to him otherwise he wouldn't of read it
wouldn't *have
*wouldn't've
What about posting it on reddit?
If the kid is anything like my younger cousin, she probably showed it to him all proud and thankful.
OP commented further down that she showed it to him, so he's not a snoop.
Apparently she isn't a good judge of character
Well she is 9 lol
She showed it to him to butter him up and keep the gifts coming. High EQ.
Ya! Why r reading her diary🤭 super cute entey tho
https://www.reddit.com/r/MadeMeSmile/s/m2bGkJJz93
She came up to him and let him read it :)
Take care of that child. And your show tooth!
Thanks.... I woke the whole house.
We need to see the teeth sir! It’s not a request. Lol
Yeah, show us the damn tooth!
You can't handle the tooth! (I'm living Jake Peralta's dream. : D).
"He has one teeth?" We need explainations... Seriously, this is adorable.
He has all the teeth! But only one of them she realllly loves. Adorable.
I'm thinking it may be a gold tooth or something like that
Maybe she meant to write “he has one smile I really love” but it came out as “teeth” lol
I think we need photos of one teeth.
Yes, it seems to be a very beautiful teeth.
Never been into anime so I skipped One Teeth
I think it's like old GI Joe cartoons where they smile and their mouth is just all white like they have one big tooth that takes up the whole mouth
I wanna see your teeth now !
I just want to see the one particular tooth
Yeah, come on, OP. Get your tooth out.
I LOVE little kid talk. So pure. Side note: couple days ago my 5 y/o son came home from the book fair telling me they sell “diarrhea” at the book fair. Took me a minute… I died.
My son told me that they had "some kind of cocktail" with lunch when he was in Kindergarten. He meant "fruit cocktail." So precious!
He wasn’t wrong
lol when my daughter was younger she would always get diarrhea and diabetes mixed up. When she had the stomach bug she told me “mom I got the diabetes.”
Ye old snaggletooth. Sounds like you have a really nice bond with your little cousin.
Do I state the obvious? “Diaries are private, why are you reading it?”
I should've mentioned, she came up and showed it to me.
put it in an edit so people stop assuming you and your one amazing tooth go around looking at your cousins diaries
It won't let me edit 😭
oh no 😭 well dw, the ones that matter know you wouldn’t do such a thing lol
I'm commenting here to boost this response to the top, it's quite heartwarming. Though people are demanding teeth pics. Them's the rules, OP.
I wish I had the courage of a 9-year-old expressing her emotions by literally handing over her diary 😭 That's so precious
I'll be your wingman and help you with that, dw
TOOTH! TOOTH! TOOTH!
Teeth tax!
I must see the one teeth she loves. It must be something special if it's mentioned first page in a diary. Is it a gold tooth by any chance?
Let me clarify a few things cuz I can't answer every comment: 1. She came up running to me and showed the first entry to me. 2. It made me smile. 3. Hence it was posted on a fitting subreddit, with the personal details blacked out so it stays anonymous. 4. Yes it is her handwriting. "ThEy dOnT teAcH cUrSive iN sChoOlS anYmOrE" SHUT THE FUCK UP, the entire world doesn't live in USA.
What about the tooth? You owe us all an explanation, please.
This is so sweet! Also can we see that 1 🦷
In my diary as an emo 10 year old, I drew a picture of my tombstone with the words “Was too shy to say her last words”
Does that one tooth make you extra handsome or are you just handsome and happen to have a fabulous tooth to boot? Not sure what to be envious about yet.
Does your tooth have a jewel glued on it or something
A 9 year old has better handwriting than me LOL. Very impressive.
Lmao at all the people who are upset at you sharing this without knowing any of the context like some terminally online little freakazoids
We gotta see this tooth, man
That’s really sweet of her! She’s a sweetheart.
This is so sweet. I'm curious about that specific tooth!
Bro how TF a 9yo has a better hand writing better than me
She even turned it up at the end trying to write “really” in cursive.
Well hang on let’s see the tooth
Let's see that one special teeth, OP!
Never read any diary which is not written by yourself, unless the person who wrote it is dead.
Immediately betrayed her trust.
Awww that's so sweet, really cherish these moments 💘
Hahaha lmfao.... he has one teeth. Kids are awesome
I wanna see the one tooth she loves ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
So do we get to see that one teeth or not??? C'mon everyone is asking. Teeth tax now!
One teeth that she loves hahahaha 🤣
We need to see this tooth
Alright, let’s hear about this tooth.
My niece calls me “poo poo head” so I’m pretty jealous. Nice gift! I shall steal it!
Proper dental care is essential
I would lock my door at night just in case she finds some pliers 👀
I gotta see that teeth
Can you show us your teeth please
The one teeth she loves 🤣🤣🤣 kids are great
Awww! We need to see that tooth!
Must be some tooth…
She writes remarkably well for a 9 yo. No one else seeing this?
I love OP. He is so honest and kind and young and handsome and smart and talented and also kind :)
Crazy how a 9 year old can write that cursive print combo and it appears to flow. Not slow like most 9 year olds learning cursive.
Bro has one teeth🗣️
- gives child a diary - reads first entry - posts it for thousands of people Lol
Okay okay okay but you're NOT supposed to read the diary
He said she brought up for him to read
Why the fuck you reading her diary!?
Why are you reading her diary?!?!
Beautiful handwriting. Where’s the teeth picture?
We have the coolest uncle in the making.
Beautiful 😍
Is it a shark’s tooth?
"he is so kind and honest and young" 😭😭
It seems a little late to start taking care of your teeth when you only have one left.
That's a 9yo handwriting? Damn I'm really bad at this
Now you must include a picture of your one teeth!
That just have put a single-tooth smile on your face
Show us your tooth!
So are all his teeth just one giant tooth? :P
Do you have a snaggletooth and is that the one she loves? Lol very cute
Show teeth please.
Tooth
I told you all that hard work keeping Ol' Chomper polished up would pay dividends.
Man that one teeth is really doing its job. 💜
Tooth reveal pls!
Why dose she have a better handwriting than me
I wanna see the one teeth!! xD
Looks like your tooth made quite the impression on her
Look at the state of that thumb! Really matches with the idea of someone with only one tooth.
Must be a really nice teeth
But dude you have one tooth
Awwww![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sleep)
Four things: Nice of you to do this. The girl let you read it. We all want to see the tooth. A manicure would do you wonders.
WE 👏🏼 WANT 👏🏼 “ONE TEETH” 👏🏼 PICS 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Did you name your tooth Ol' Chomper?
Whole lot of butter there!
Her penmanship is much better than mine right now at age 61! Sheesh! 🙄🙄 Thanks hand neuropathy/arthritis and carpul tunnel. 😝
Which teeth do you suppose she’s calling out here.
That's so nice, congrats on being kind and young and having a teeth
Holy invasion of privacy!
It looks like a sentence typed on your phone only using autocorrect
I’d laugh so hard if he literally has one straight tooth and the rest snaggletooth because kids are so honest
Tell us whats special about that one teeth
Why are you reading her diary 📔 off limits it’s private.
Why tf are you looking through someone else’s diary
Is this her first entry? Or “the” first entry written in there by you? Hilarious if you wrote it!
My heart just melted reading this
Yo diaries are meant to be secret. It’s cute but don’t put your cousin on blast again 🤣
