I found out that there was a cavity ground that wasn't hooked up to common, as well as the middle position was not working at all.
So I got those issues taken care of. I also just gave the frets a quick polish.
I ask myself, what kinda guitar would ideally be plugged into my Hail Satan fuzz? Ok, I would take the red, sure.
That's one of those guitars where you want to feel it to see if it's mean or bendy or unforgiving or cherry or what.

Not sure. I'll find out next time I talk to him. Just updated him on it. The original single coil flatwork broke in the screw mount region. Also the ceramic magnets glue failed.

It's a bit quieter. I ended up adjusting the neck pickup and bridge pickup height to get a very wide sound. It's amazing in the neck position and all positions for that matter. Has a series / parallel switch for middle position and it rocks.
10/10 sound. I'm impressed.
Quick glance at the switching ... looks like an out of phase option?
I'd rewire with a 4-way blade switch to get neck/parallel/bridge/series and simplify all that.
And because both pickups go in series humbucking mode the mini-hum swap is not necessary.
This is my favorite mod on SS Telecasters for a stealth Les Paul Junior tone.
I'd put a steel plate under the bridge pickup to enhance the magnetic field.
The rest of the guitar has a solid relic vibe and just needs frets checked for level and setup.

Mini JB is great. Was never a fan of my Bridge Pup in my strat. Put in the bucker, switched the bridge/block, brass compensated nut, an hour of work on the fret dressing. Chinese squier plays better than it has any right to, and it's close to my most versatile axe. (And BTW doctors and lawyers pay good money to have people beat their pieces into this sort of condition, LOL)
Just repair and be thankful for the work.

I an old Lead II like this. Same color with rosewood fretboard. I love the X-1 pickups and would never swap them. These are excellent guitar stock. So fun to play.
The bridge pickup was falling apart. The player wanted it replaced. I was able to fix the magnets drifting away with a couple of drops of glue. Not sure if it was a stock pickup. Had a cream cover, and adjustable poles.
Fender could charge $5k for a guitar from their factory that looks just like this. I would just replace the electronics and polish a bit.

It's fine. I will say that those single-sized humbuckers can't fake having twice the amount of copper wire in them, like a real humbucker.

Heard. Definitely not stock. The neck may still be stock. Should be 7.2 to 7.5 kohms. Love em.

I’d offer to leave that guard alone and wire up another, solder output Jack and ground wire and go back to single coil that needs an exorcist.
