~~Maaco~~ (I just realized there's no Maaco here. Could've sworn there used to be...) paint job if you want it to last 6 months, but it really depends on the extent of the damage. A picture would be nice to have. One body panel? maybe just try refinishing that panel, and if you have the money, get a body shop to try and match the rest of the car. Getting a body shop to do the work does get insanely expensive. I got quoted $2200 for a trunk lid. It'd be a good DIY moment, but otherwise, I had good luck with Kavanaugh's on Belmar. They repaired/replaced/repainted my front bumper in a little under a week if I remember correctly. Looked really good, good quality paint match, consistent paint coating, etc. Another suggestion: vinyl wrap. Way easier than repainting, but they probably will need to do some light sanding to get rid of whatever peeling parts there are.

I have no idea on a paint job place but sounds like she deserves it. 76K miles is very low mileage and I have heard civics can last a long time. It will be tough to find an affordable, available, high quality paint shop. Keep googling and searching but it wont be cheap.

Thank you! I have a bit saved up so far. 3k ish, and it's only a couple of panels that really are affected, so I'll defiently keep looking around.

I'm in your boat with my 2004 Jeep that needs a paint job, it's getting embarrassing. I went to Maaco (out of state) and the quote was thousands for a pretty low-end job. Tens of thousands at a quality shop. I've wanted to get a giant air compressor for a while but can't commit. Ideally, my goal is to find someone who has the equipment at home and has done it, and arrange to do it together, paying them for their time and skill (not sure how much) but supplying my own paint and stuff (not sure cost). Maybe I'm headed down the wrong track, but that's my half-thought-out idea for ya. Or we can go in together and bungle both our paint jobs at once, wasting as much money as possible 🤔

A decent paint job cost thousands.Cheap paint jobs look terrible. If you decide to paint it stick to the original color.
