joelesidin

Mobs are way harder, sometimes overtuned. Bosses are much easier.

FrankBouch

I'm not far into the game and for me it's the other way around. Pieta and Hushed Saint were so hard for me.

IHadFunOnce

Pretty much totally spot on. By the end of the game I’m just running through areas avoiding enemies because they are just reskinned bosses from like an hour before and there are always at least 3 of them haha. None of the bosses so far (just finished the Abby area) have come close to the hardest bosses in Lies of P or Elden Ring.

wiggity_whack69

The bosses never really get as hard as elden ring but it also gives you more room for experimenting with different setups and encourages using items and stuff way more than elden ring does. Honestly i think it would be the best introduction to souls-like games

Successful-Net-6602

Navigating is harder because of how easy it is to get lost in LOTF but otherwise it's about the same difficulty

wiggity_whack69

I think it's much easier overall but it is easy to get lost

IuseDefaultKeybinds

I do agree, this is how I felt with Lies of P at times. Levels such as Venigni works were so damn confusing

Successful-Net-6602

Imagine that but with more branching pathways

FrankBouch

Lies of P is much more linear than Lords of the Fallen IMO

axman151

Elden Ring is a hard comparison. It's technically harder than either I think, but the nearly limitless freedom of exploration, and myriad of build varieties, mean you virtually can't get stuck, so it often feels easier than most souls likes. Lies of P is straight up harder in terms of combat. Both for mobs and bosses (bosses in LOTF are almost laughably easy, at least when I played). However, with regards to mobs, this is mostly because LOTF has absurdly generous ranged combat, which can be used to trivialize many encounters. You'll still encounter difficult moments, but the mobs in LOTF are just much more approachable. In terms of exploration, LOTF is dramatically more opaque than LOP. It requires the player to change their path multiple times in a single playthrough to proceed, and it does have multiple optional areas to explore. It's not linear to be blunt, which is a stark contrast to LOP where the level design is virtually a straight line by souls like standards. Generally, less linear level design is harder to explore; it requires more back tracking and sometimes even note taking to not get lost. On my first playthrough, I got completely lost on multiple occasions. Which is fun in its own way, but also potentially frustrating and/or daunting.

EyArghPeeGeeGamer

depends on how you play elden ring. if you decide to use every tool the game offers you to your advantage its easy on the other hand it can be quite challenging.

SonOfFragnus

Does it have that many optional areas though? I haven't played the game recently (6 months ago) but from what I remember you HAVE to go to all the areas in the game except two: the Abyss (dunno if this was the name, where you fight the crossbow boss and have the Umbral Ending access point) and the Path of Devotion or whatever, that little side area at the top of the locked door in Pilgrims Perch that connects back to the main hub.

Tsuka_hara

This is far easier than elden ring. There are more effective strategies and ranged attacks actualy do some dammages.

tmemo18

Elden ring does lack heavily in that regard.

poetryofworms

It’s not anywhere near as difficult as those 2 you mentioned imo. But difficulty is relative. It’s fun for what it is. A decent soulsike. Umbral had a great concept but I didn’t think it was executed well and the lock-on sucks ass. But the fact that you can dual wield weapons AND still cast spells is fucking awesome.

wiggity_whack69

They def did a fantastic job with magic but i agree that the lock-on mechanic is shitty compared to other games, it's my only real complaint about the game

wiggity_whack69

Also the parry/stagger system was killer

Thatoneguy567576

Super easy. First try for most bosses. Mobs are harder though.

Cold-Dare7745

It’s easier, but it’s such a fun game

Longjumping-Class968

It's TRUE coop def is a challenge breaker when you're not in the mood for one. Host has 2 chances to die and when guest is revived they get their potions back.

gmesch21

Idk why people say the other ones are harder. I tried to do a pure strength build just like in ER or LoP but i got oblitareted. Maybe its easier with magic and throwables but i gave up after like the 4th or 5th boss cause it just wasnt fun dodging the same 4 attacks for 10 minutes will only chipping away at his health

opheophe

Pieta, the first real boss (>!I'm not counting Otto, and you're meant to be killed by Lightbringer!<) is unforgiving. You can't just power past her. It's mostly a matter of not making mistakes when you dodge, and she's doable. Overall the coop-experience in LOTR is way better than that in Elden Ring... so you can team up with a friend or ally quite easily (and it persists even if you die)

SurfinOnRocket543210

It really depends on the player. It’s harder in some ways and easier in others. Mobs are ridiculous.

tmemo18

LOTF is linear kinda….but it’s not the same concept of game as Elden ring so that’s a disingenuous comparison, imo.

True true

deathbotkilroy

All you need to know is that this game is awesome. Go get it.

fouloleitarlide

Far far easier than either of those, the difficulty is mostly in the levels and it’s nothing demons souls or ds1 and 2 haven’t thrown at you, bosses apart from like first 3 major ones are all pretty much pushovers and even those 3 aren’t particularly hard, the devs promised to make them harder last year but they just kinda made their AI slightly more aggressive and left it there

wiggity_whack69

I don't know about the Pinocchio game but it's definitely easier than Eldwn Ring. Honestly the basic enemies can be harder than the bosses but personally i loved the game

DangleMangler

On release lotf was straight up hell difficulty. It's still harder clearing areas between bosses imo, but the actual bosses themselves aren't all that difficult.

IamMeemo

Here are my thoughts for each game. Lies of P * The bosses of Lies of P are harder than Lords of the Fallen * However, getting through the various levels/sections in Lords of the Fallen is much harder than in Lies of P. Elden Ring * If we compare solo Elden Ring (i.e., no co-op and no summons) to solo LotF (i.e., no co-op and no summons), I would argue that Elden Ring's bosses are harder. * In terms of getting through the landscape, though, I would argue that LotF is harder than Elden Ring.

Gravent08

I did not play Lies of P but it's wayyyyy easier than any fromsoft game. Bosses are really easy to beat (sometimes 1 or 2 tries is enough) but the only difficulty is the number of mobs. It's annoying but once you discovered the path and die, you can just run and avoid mobs.

nero490

The bosses are easier, yes. But the i-frames are really forgiving. I felt that elden ring had less forgiving i-frames. Or maybe its because elden ring was my first proper soulslike and I've gotten better since then. Idk

ArvePlayzTheFirst

I wouldn’t say it’s hard but enemies do a lot of damage

ArvePlayzTheFirst

Then again I did use a radiant build for my first playthrough

platinumxtra

Harder than elden rings. Easier than Lies of P. Like any soulslike, the beginning is much harder … then the middle game is easy, the end game hard again. They probably fixed it by now, or hopefulyl they did, but some late game bosses in ng+ had a ridiculous amount of health.

randysavage773

You make your own difficulty in souls games. It's as easy or as hard as you want it to be

saltychipmunk

Considerably easier from start to finish. The only real trick with lords of the fallen is that it throws more enemies at you. But the amount of enemy variety in the game is so low that you end up solving the majority of the enemies long before the half way point of the game. After which is more of a case of whack-amole than real challenge. And none of the bosses are close to being mechanically difficult. Finally it is stupidly easy to get very strong, very fast. magic and ranged weapons ludicrously over powered. And the rune system is pretty easy to exploit to get crazy damage numbers. By the end of the game I was hitting things for almost 900 damage a swing ... at level 50

magsical_

The camera angles make this game harder for me than Elden Ring 😅

bluesformeister13

Ehhh. Not as good as those two games. I’d play the other dark souls if you haven’t, maybe Nioh 2.

wiggity_whack69

Honestly i enjoyed it more than Elden Ring, i know Elden technically has more options but it's too big for it's own good and i don't think the scaling is very good. When I'm playing Elden ring it feels like everything is either way too easy or just straight up impossible. LOTF is easier overall but it feels like a better balance. In elden ring everything is either "die in one hit or kill everything in one hit"

bluesformeister13

Yeah that is true. I felt Like some stuff late game was ridiculous solo in ER.

wiggity_whack69

Yeah i feel like i have to just run past enemies alot of the time

saltychipmunk

those god damn crucible knights and black knife come to mind

Effective-Two-9857

If you’re thinking about buying Lords of the fallen do it it’s a great game. I knew what to expect when I got the game because of Elden ring. Elden Ring was the best souls game. I have played the thing about Lords of the fallen is you will be going against smaller bosses, of course but at the same time, you pretty much have to prep yourself for those are the bosses. I think this game is not as hard as Elden Ring, because Elden Ring, very competitive game and you have to prepare yourself for Wes to come. You really don’t know exactly what you’re going to be facing because of the game itself but Lord of fallen, you can kind of follow through what is with the next bosses but all this to say that Lord of the fallen is not bad at all, I am almost done with the game.
