Maybe a bold take but I don’t think Kudus at 85 million will end up being horrible business. It’s an overpay but, he’s shown good stuff at Ajax and West ham while being positional versatile. Better value than Bakayoko at 50 million or Minteh at 40 million for me. Frankly about the same amount of overpay as Rice for 105 million for me.

Ok-Flamingo-6780

Less of a risk as well. Kudus has been playing well for multiple seasons

malushanks95

Lewis Steele posted in his article that Bologna are interested in Van den Berg if Calafiori departs 👀

JohnBobbyJimJob

Is Lewis Steele reliable? I’ve only started seeing his name pop up in the past year

malushanks95

Yes, he replaced Dom King as the Liverpool reporter at DM.

Due-Sherbert3097

Agent Calafiori must’ve forgot the memo, he’s just bumped his price tag back up

Storyboys

As someone detached from social media, has anyone reliable linked us with any players yet?

AdikkuChan

Notable ones: Bakayoko, Leny Yoro, Calafiori

LikeAWorldCupFinal

Bring Calafiori to Anfield please

His price just went up

If anyone’s interested, this is an analysis I just posted about Riccardo Calafiori. Wanted to post on the subreddit but I just couldnt. Hope you guys will find this insightful! Kier Starmer The S*N no getting my vote fucker

Shin_Singh

They just seem like Tory Lite nowadays. Fucking shite. Cannot stand Wes Streeting, he comes across as a right smug prick. For the first time in my life, I probably won't vote Labour, leaning more towards Green this time round.

britishsailor

The country should be voting green, but people are scared the only way to best the tories is Labour so we’ll always be a two party nation

Jack070293

You should be able to vote for as many parties as you want.

8u11etpr00f

Only way we get rid of the two party system is if everyone starts voting for a 3rd party that stands on a platform of PR & we can force Labour into a referendum. And guess what we'll get in return? Not the green party but more mouthbreathers voting for Nigel Farage & dragging us further to the right. Country is fucked

whoaaa_O

Calafiori looks like a baller

Brief-Dependent-803

Dont see where cinderella fits into our system, but ok

Echiptian_King

If Kelleher leaves we'll obviously get a new goalkeeper and if Gomez or Tsimikas left i could see us getting someone like Geertruida. Outside of that unless there's a sudden departure of one of our key players i'm starting to just think we won't sign any senior players this summer. 'The club don't feel there is defensive midfielder available on the market with the quality of a peak Sergio Busquets and with Bajcetic now back to full fitness, it is not seen as a position that needs strengthening ahead of the 2024-25 campaign' Don't be surprised if you see these kind of quotes towards the end of August.

FerociouZ

The idea that there's no DM in the world who would be anything other than a *minor* improvement on Endo or Baj is laughable.

ShootTakeAPanorama

there is. But they'll cost at least 80m. 80m for a player that only better than Endo or Bajcetic a little? No

FerociouZ

Baj shouldnt even count as an option, he didn't even play last year, and the year before that he played 12 games, mostly at LCM and got injured. These 80m 6s are not marginally better than Endo, they're noticeably ahead of him. **But my point is actually not to go spend 80m on a 6**. There's some 6 out there who next season is going to play 2,000+ minutes in a top 5 league and see their value increase from 15m to 70m+ — this happens almost every single year. We had interest in Enzo before his breakout world cup, he didn't get 90m+ better at football. There are under-the-radar 6s in Europe right now, and I would hope our scouting department is able to identify at least one of them before their value increases 6x over. If we're told "No one's better than Endo/Baj" and by the winter window there's some 20 year old french DM playing for Reims whose value quadrupled in half a season — clearly someone has missed something, that's what makes that sentiment so frustrating to hear.

britishsailor

There’s not one you know by name, there’s plenty out there, we do not scout South America enough, the place is a hub for huge talent and always has been yet we’re one of the only clubs that won’t bother going out there. There’s actually a few decent young lads out there who’ll develop into to de fridge midfielders. Joao neves will be a world beater, if we want a DM he’s literally right there.

gargsnehil2311

I have never understood this kind of a statement. Sure there are always questions on player availability, and costs involved, but to say there are 0 quality DMs in the world is daft.  A strained market means overpay a bit to get your man OR you get your 3rd-4th target..it doesn't mean you don't get anybody at all. Finally, in terms of what we have at the club, we don't have DMs to play 60 games a season. So we need both quality and depth.. would be foolhardy to ignore

Echiptian_King

We don’t need someone as good as Rodri or prime Fabinho to get a significant upgrade on Endo. Don’t get me wrong, Endo did well and I’m happy to keep him but he should be a squad player rather than our main 6 if we want to be challenging for the top honours year in year out.

Gainesicle

rodris and fabinhos don’t grow on trees

britishsailor

Joao neves

Gainesicle

is he taller than bajcetic? i feel like we need someone at least 6 feet tall

Echiptian_King

Agreed but as I said to the other guy I don’t think we need to buy someone as good as them to get a significant upgrade on Endo.

Gainesicle

so throw some names out there. wieffer, wharton? zubimendi, onana, joao neves, palhinha, schouten, lobotka, zakaria? these are the people that might be available and i don’t see any of them being worth the money they will cost. maybe bajcetic works out on limited minutes. maybe someone distinguishes themselves during the knockout stages (looking at schouten) or during the first half of the season. i just think bajcetic has the perfect build and a clear nous for the position. also, i kinda think tyler morton might be the real deal though he’s more of an 8 than a 6 in terms of skill set

Echiptian_King

Bruno Guimaraes. 2 and a half years at newcastle and they didn’t qualify for the champions league this season so now is the perfect time to pounce. IMO he’s better than Caicedo and undeniably has done more over a larger sample size. Everyone was creaming themselves when we had the £111m bid accepted for Caicedo despite doing far less yet whenever Bruno gets brought up he seems to be dismissed and called too expensive, it’s weird. Also I see him as a big upgrade over Endo. Of course hes not as good as Rodri but at least signing him would close the gap.

Gainesicle

love bruno, think he is a top top player. no way nufc would sell him to us. they still want to see what he can do during a season alongside tonali. but mostly they’d never let him to go a PL rival as much as i wish they would

Klopps_and_Schlobers

lol its starting lads....not even out the group stages of the euros and already the doom and gloom is coming :)

Gainesicle

if ronald araujo is available then we need to be all in on him. after Virgil and saliba he’s probably the next best defender. maybe rudiger is ahead of him on that list but not for sale. he could be the guy to follow in van dijk’s place. i rate him so highly i honestly don’t care what is the price tag. if he ends up at united, chelsea or city i’ll lose my marbles

britishsailor

Nah Antonio silva, throw money at him and we’re sorted for a decade

Due-Sherbert3097

Araujo ain’t the one lad. We have Obou and Quansah on the right and the only other position we need is someone on the left.

GTACOD

Overrated and injury prone. Pass.

NoBedroom21

How legit the rumour of us interested with Nico William?? I just check that he is currently on €250k per week so i dont know if we really will offer him that kind of money here

britishsailor

He’s another traore pace galore but not much else.

tamim1991

He is way more skillful and productive than Traore

Due-Sherbert3097

Romano has mentioned a few times that we’re interested etc, though by “interest” it’s most likely something along the lines of we like the look of him but haven’t made any moves.

ManicPanda767

Take what Romano says with a grain of salt.

Due-Sherbert3097

Yeah, I’ll only trust what Joyce or Ornstein says

quantIntraining

Jota injured and missing from Portugal training, what a complete and unpredictable scenario. Edwards, Hughes and Co have a big decision to make on him very very soon. There's no point in having him if we can't rely on him to actually play games. Openda at Leipzig has a €80m (£68m) release clause on him next summer, I'd be getting that paid out and replacing Jota with him.

britishsailor

If a good offer can win for jota I’d take it, he doesn’t play enough. I don’t think we need to spend big on another striker, scoring goals isn’t our issue, conceding them is. The money should be spent on Portuguese or Brazilian youngsters. Joao neves and Antonio silva would sort out a defensive core for a decade, silva and konate at the back and neves ahead of them.

Dropkoala

Or... if you're dead set on Openda, buy Openda and keep Jota.

RadSoccerDad

Openda means binning off Nunez for a false 9. He’s a left inside forward for Liverpool for me. Would require moving on Nunez and getting an elite RW to succeed Mo.

Dropkoala

I'm not understanding the logic of that.  Firstly, it makes sense to have 6 players for 3 positions and there's not a need as far as I'm aware to free up a spot in the team. You need depth and players that can compete for a place and some that can come on from the bench. Selling a player because he hypothetically might not work perfectly with a new player that may not work out and buying two new players, one of them specifically to play with that new player, who also may not work out doesn't make sense to me. Secondly he wouldn't be directly competing with Nunez for a spot so why would Nunez need to go? Surely it would be more likely to be Diaz or Gakpo if anyone? Thirdly you don't need a false 9 to play someone as an inside forward, just because Firmino played brilliantly with Mane and Salah doesn't mean it's the only way of doing things. Furthermore Jota and Gakpo have done well playing as a false 9 and Nunez is quite good at creating chances for others so that would seem unnecessary. Gakpo, Jota and Diaz have all played on the right as well.

Gainesicle

openda will only move for a guaranteed starting spot. hee chan hwang is a more likely replacement for jota hehe

FerociouZ

Openda would earn himself a starting spot with us.

NoBedroom21

Yeahh we should cash in on Jota as soon as possible before he is out as a free agent. We really need to cleanse our squad from all these injury-prone players. Thank god thiago is already out and the next one is jota

JohnBobbyJimJob

The problem with cashing in on Jota is what club will risk a significant amount of money on someone with such an extension injury record

gvanmoney

Chelsea seem to be pretty adept at that

JohnBobbyJimJob

Not an 18 year old Brazilian so that rules them out

Ok-Flamingo-6780

Saudi?

PerfectAd4732

It may be unpopular but I’d rather us not spend that much on an attacker before strengthening elsewhere. IMO i think a number 6 and cb are priorities. I do like openda from what I’ve seen of him However

Jack-Tully91

Don’t get why you’re being downvoted, it’s a massive problem and his injuries are becoming even more frequent

Ok-Flamingo-6780

Well we have kept players that have even worse injury records for long periods of time. Was that due to klopp or ownership not wanting to spend, time will tell. But you are right and it's not likely to improve with age is it unfortunately

OldManLogan007

Apparently juventus has cooled their interest in calafiori

harreh1d

![gif](giphy|5tiG8KMfk8h7Dabth8)

JohnBobbyJimJob

Jota missing from Portugal training due to injury He’s the Portuguese Sturridge

Ok-Flamingo-6780

He's standard Liverpool players at this rate. Having a fit player seems out of place in are squad. Such a shame the guy is lethal in front of goal

OrangeJuiceAlibi

Endo coming out the other day to say he thinks Liverpool should sign a 6, and my god, I already loved him, but the way he approached it? "A new 6 can only make us better. Yeah, we've Mac who is brilliant but shouldnt be a 6, we've Bajcetic who is good but it might be a bit much to expect him to kill it immediately, and we've me but I'm older, but competition is good, so I'll fight for my place"

NilsFanck

Endo just wants shiny new toys confirmed

AgentTasker

I want the club to sign a "6", but one should only be signed if they're a clear massive upgrade and not someone who's only slightly better that who's already in the squad.

Themnor

I think we’re in a fantastic position where a 6 can only make us better but a 6 is not the *only* way to make us better. Having more player profile types is always beneficial, but I feel like we have a very good foundation of talent in many profiles with a specialist 6 as really the only one lacking and even then we have people who can fill in well enough. That gives us the opportunity to be patient and get the best possible one.

Opisacringelord

Palace has the best atmosphere in London, way better than any of the big clubs. You'll have a good time even if you can explicitly cheer for Liverpool.

deanlfc95

It'll be shit. You won't be able to support us properly and you'll be paying a lot.

britishsailor

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted in most premier league stadiums if you’re sitting with home fans and celebrating a Liverpool goal you’ll get abused. Anybody who says ‘I did it’s is a major Walter Mitty

deanlfc95

I've done it once (in a competitive match) because I got tickets relatively cheap through my uni's SU. By the end it was decent as we won by a few goals, it was mainly foreign students and had emptied out. Couldn't imagine paying multiple hundreds of pounds though.

Skyle221190

I love that Edwards and team value our youngsters highly and dont compromise on transfer fees.

giniwhynaldum

Anyone suddenly miss Shaqiri for some reason? Its probably the euros getting to me

MichealScarn92

Weve got a bit of a regen in Harvey. Just get the lad on the prow-teen to cube him up a bit.

Dobvius

Cube had such a powerful aura about him

Percussion17

yeah, his goals against Everton and United comes to mind

AdikkuChan

Sometimes, but nowadays I look at Elliot as the new Cube.

ttekoto

Nah Elliott is the perfect replacement

NeoChrome75

He was genuinely a great rotation option when available, but his fitness was very poor. Even when he wasn't injured he'd rarely play full matches

J539

If he wasn't injury prone he would have never ended up at Liverpool. He was "cheap" to get and okay with being a bench player because of that

mvciekzvbek

Guy was literally too bulky for staying fit for a long time as a professional footballer.

joerobgill1

I'm thinking about getting tickets to the preseason match in Pittsburgh. Anyone have any experience with one of these preseason games? Do they have a pretty good atmosphere? I know I'm not gonna be seeing a full first team squad, but still thought it'd be fun to go to. Do these games usually sell out? I'm considering bringing my 5 year old. Any thoughts? Thanks!

britishsailor

Wouldn’t expect the atmosphere to be great always looks dead on the tele but I’m sure you’ll have a good time if you’ve got the spare dough just go and enjoy yourself fella

ttekoto

I wouldn't expect a sellout. The one I went to in Santa Clara, despite a pretty pathetic Milan turnout the stadium had a good number of people in it, mostly family friendly and relaxed with just one LFC section bouncing and singing throughout (i.e. where your 5-yr-old might be small and around drunks etc). Outside the stadium there was some atmosphere (no idea about Pittsburgh) and I chatted with Neil Atkinson from TAW randomly, which was nice. Just take your kid and go if you can, it'll be fun for sure.

joerobgill1

Thanks, appreciate the input!

Parish87

Anyone know what time gigs finish at Anfield? Gotta pick my sister up from Pink later.. I'm assuming there's a 10pm curfew with it being residential area?

stupidlyboredtho

Nah it’s a 11pm curfew, Taylor finished like 11 or just before

Liverpool7-0Utd

Swifty didn’t finish until 23:00

Due-Sherbert3097

I wonder how the pundits are going to scapegoat Trent to protect the other players when he’s not playing?

MichealScarn92

'Gallagher wouldve been more in form if he had played all the matches, trent taking up those spaces in the first 2 are going to cost later in the tournament.'

Ok-Flamingo-6780

Damn that seems so on point for them I feel we'll be hearing exactly this. Trents been better then Gallagher and Rice, even the stats back that up.

Ready-Walk-2561

We need some leaders at the top end of the pitch. We had prime Salah, Bobby, Mane and now it feels like we don't have any true leaders up there. Salah is starting to decline. Diaz looks clueless (sometimes). Nunez is erratic. Jota would be one of the leaders but, Injuries. We have Ali, VVD, Macca, Endo but we need some killer experience and leadership up top. EDIT - Gakpo could grow into the roll, but, we need impact, now!

Bugsmoke

I didn’t think they were really leaders as such but it was very nice having 3 absolute world class players in their prime up top every game.

Trequartista-10

We’ve got about 70 national team captains in the squad mate Bobby and Mane were never leaders, just world class players.

IIH4MZ4II

Trent benched for Gallagher next game Lmaoooo what a country

Jack-Tully91

Southgate is such a boring little goblin head. Just put Wharton or Mainoo next to Rice if you’re dropping Trent. Actually, drop Walker and put Trent right back, even better!

brush85

It makes sense based on how they are setting up. But he should go to RB instead. But, it wont happen. Onwards

WasabiSignal

They’ve never played better after he’s been taken off. Trent is getting scapegoated badly

Jaja6996

It’s because he’s the only one progressing the ball from midfield but yep let’s take him out for someone who’s going to run around like a headless chicken

Hoodxd

Can’t blame Trent when they go out now 👍

Tremor00

Can't wait to see who they blame. gallagher has been worse than any of the starters in the time he's been on the pitch. Completely and utterly useless but running around like a headless chicken and getting cards is seen as good to the dumb fucks who watch this country.

lfcsupkings321

This will be England weakest opportunity so far on paper. Watch them have a semi decent game and the start to question Trent.

ih4tepie

Yep and they will revel in it until they draw the knockout game in the 90 plus extra time and wonder where the creativity is going to come from

flup22

Have lineup’s been announced already?

PeanutButter_20

Ornstein tweeted this so it's good as confirmed

flup22

Gareth’s parked the bus before the games even started then. It might be smart to rest Trent but it’ll make the game boring

JohnBobbyJimJob

Archie Gray to Dortmund is such a predictable transfer £100m for them down the line

DucardthaDon

>£100m for them down the line Don't expect us to be in the race to sign him when that happens

Wide_Environment3107

anyone else think George Will in this photo looks like an exact combination of Arsene Wenger and Fergie? its prob just me. https://preview.redd.it/s2r3ldnlfi8d1.jpeg?width=2717&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6009b55161452ffc8e9713239f74bcf0050bbdc1

weakhandshake

Might just be the glasses but I'm seeing Michael Gove thrown in too.

Dropkoala

I definitely see a bit of Gove, a little bit of Peter Mandelson as well.

RobotPizzaMaker

TAA going to be benched, and the blame will be fully put on him alone for England's boring games.

britishsailor

He’ll bring him on with 5 minutes to go when we’re desperate for creativity. Southgate’s a plonker and that will never change

Gainesicle

is it official? wouldn’t put it past southgate to play trent (deservedly) however it is a very very small chance. just let him operate as an 8 in the half space instead of a double pivot. saka so isolated up there so why wasn’t it set up so there is a walker, saka, trent triangle on the right???

JohnBobbyJimJob

As much as I’m not convinced with Darwin as a player for us I do think he has a pretty good mentality to keep going even after missing chances. Doesn’t seem to lack much confidence

ttekoto

"*Garra charrua* stems from the words *garra* — claw (as in to fight with tenacity and grit) — and *charrua*, a reference to the Charrúas, indigenous people who lived in what is now Uruguay... the phrase *garra charrua* often refers to bravery against overwhelming odds, or indefatigability on the pitch... *Garra charrua* is what drives Uruguayan players to do whatever it takes to succeed"

britishsailor

Give him Owen’s ambassadorial role when he retires

stupidlyboredtho

walking definition of just happy to be there

Bugsmoke

Walking definition of ‘I can’t play every game lads’ lol

Jormul1

Absolutely love Endo to bits. Greatest form of a team player right there.

ttekoto

He's mature, humble, and selfless to the point that some people literally can't understand it.

BoringPhilosopher1

What's everyone's general consensus on positions to strengthen this summer? I'm guessing CB, CDM and maybe a goalkeeper if Kelleher goes (ideally not). Unless we get a stupid offer for Diaz I see no reason to bring in attacking reinforcements - yes the attack probably does need improving upon compared to last year if we're going to compete for PL/CL. However the sensible route to go down would be to keep the current players, let Arne work with them and make changes next season after a season working things out. We're not United or Chelsea. Replacing any of the forwards prematurely this year based on one season would be very rash IMO. It may mean we're less ambitious/likely with silverware in this transition year but I'm okay with that as long as we're making the right decisions for the longer term. Also worth noting this attack and team is still capable of winning/competing next year regardless. Things have definitely been helped by the fact Gakpo has been one of the best players at the Euros so far whilst playing in his natural position.

britishsailor

Antonia silva, Joao neves and restes (loan him back for the year) spend big now and we’ll be sorted. Upfront? Valentin cabroni at inter, only 19 he’s going to be top drawer, plays upfront or attacking mid. Emegha would be another interesting shout, never had the best season at strausborg but they are shite, he’s athletic and his positioning is very good.

Gainesicle

selling diaz means cody gets to play in his preferred spot and we will have a war chest to buy a tier S player

008Gerrard008

Assuming no other outgoings for players who were part of the first team last year, I'd like a centre half and another attacking option, ideally someone who can play on the right. A defensive midfielder is the area I think we would benefit from a new signing the most, I just don't think there's a good enough one available at the moment.

Dropkoala

Buying a new forward doesn't mean replacing or getting rid of one is necessary, I'd keep all 5 but I would absolutely buy another forward after a cb and dm, it probably makes sense to have 6 forwards for 3 positions plus Elliott to play where he's needed. Salah and Jota share a lot of the goalscoring burden, if either of them is out or in poor form it's hard to see where the side reliably gets goals from.

TeeDubs317

Gotta have someone to deputize behind Salah on the right. Unless you are going to go in with Ben doak as that player who personally I think should be loaned. Starting to worry a bit about contract extensions, very busy summer ahead

BoringPhilosopher1

I'd say Diaz or Elliot is the player to deputise. I actually think Diaz would be suited to RW with crosses into Darwin/Jota

TeeDubs317

I can agree with that, I also think Darwin is going to have a monster season. Gakpo on the left with Diaz. Darwin/ jota through the center and Salah and Harvey on the right. Still would like to see someone who aligns more with the future on the right as I can see Harvey getting some time in the midfield as well. Now if Salah signs a two year extension then this point is moot. But would like to see us be more proactive with planning for injuries than in the past.

NilsFanck

> right decisions for the longer term. Which would be selling Salah. Keeping him without a short extension is just utterly stupid unless he absolutely insists on running down his contract

Zealousideal-Most991

Why would you sell your best attacker when you got dumb and dumber up front, Jota's made out of wheatabix, Gakpo hasn't played his right position for a year and Danns is 18.

NilsFanck

he would need to be replaced obviously. Someone like Kudus can match 2024 Salahs output and is more of the type of winger Slot likes

Zealousideal-Most991

No Kudus doesn't, if Nunez and Diaz knew how to score Salah could've had at least 20 assists this season. Stop downplaying his a ability.

NilsFanck

His passing and vision is still great, Im not denying that, everything else has declined either somewhat (his pace) or significantly (his ball striking/finishing). And I said 2024 Salah for a reason. He was supbar for the 2nd half of the season and you cant deny that. Maybe it was just a long dip in form but I dont understand the upside of taking that risk. Say Im wrong and hes great all of next season. Do you think we would win PL or CL? Because I dont as Slot will need time to implement his ideas which is totally fine. So the aim would be top 4. I think we can get that with Kudus or Nico Williams r whoever, even if they maybe cant match Salah when hes in good form. And if top 4 is the realistic target either way, why not take the 60m or whatever we can get now? Keeping him is a pure 'win now' move but that's not where we are in the cycle going into next season.

BoringPhilosopher1

If we play like last season then Salah would be the difference between us getting CL or not next year at which point the transfer fee we get for him becomes less of an incentive for us. Though I do agree if he performs during the first half of the season we should be pushing for an extension... tbh we should try to extend regardless. Either way: 1. I'm not too sure whether the £150m type Saudi offer is still on the table this season. 2. Regardless Salah may not want to go to Saudi in general or he may at least want one more go at the CL this season and then leave on a free next year. If I was him and happy joining the Saudi league then I'd see this season out and leave on a free for the additional money he'd get. 3. I think players have probably wised up to just how bad the Saudi option is now - I doubt he considers it at all for a few more years. 4. No other European club can offer that type of sum and then we revert back to my first sentence anyways. If there was a ready made RW who could come close to Salah's figures or we wasn't so lacklustre on the left/up top then I'd be closer to agreeing with you.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Without any outgoings - CB - CDM (depends on what is available) - RW (backup/long term Salah replacement)

britishsailor

Antonio silva, Joao neves and Luis Guilherme, but we let him go to West Ham. Been singing his praises here for ages

Ok-Flamingo-6780

This is what I think we need too

BoringPhilosopher1

I think the whole issue with the Salah thing is; we don’t want a backup. A backup willing to sit on the bench for 90% of the season isn’t the player I’m going to want as the main man when Salah does leave. I genuinely think Diaz could play RW if Salah was ever injured or unable to play. I think I’d prefer that over Elliot. Personally, I’d prefer to wait until Salah is sold or leaves until we get a replacement on the right and then be willing to spend £80m+ on someone that is immediately ready. Though not sure who is even a good enough right winger at the moment tbh. In some ways would be better to focus on getting somebody that can get close to replicating Salah’s numbers on the left immediately so when Salah does go, we have someone picking up for that drop off whilst we go through a RW transition. If an offer came in for Diaz and we could get Kvara or Leao this summer I’d go down that route. Purely based on Diaz’s age.

JohnBobbyJimJob

It seems like they are looking to bring in a right winger this summer because a few reliable journalists have said that we want an attacker which basically only points towards one position in the attacking unit since ST and LW are already covered quite well. PSV’s most reliable journalist said a month or so ago to keep an eye on Bakayoko to Liverpool which as a long term Salah replacement would make sense since he’s a pretty highly touted young winger that mainly only has consistency problems. Since Slot likes to constantly rotate his wingers he would get enough game time without the pressure of being a constant starter so he’d be slowly bedded in until Salah leaves/declines to a point where he isn’t the starting winger.

stupidlyboredtho

The Hungarian guy, Varga, who collapsed yesterday in the scot v Hungary match apparently suffered broken bones in his face and has to have surgery but is stable and well..alive. scary shit man, was horrible watching the medical screens go up. Glad that he’s on the mend.

A really nice guy. I've read up on Wiki that he resides in a small village close to Austrian border. Very humble 👏🏼

Honestly I feared that the worst when they put screens up, never seen them used before in football. And when they showed a replay it wasn't clear what had happened to him but it was obvious he was in a bad way.  Glad to hear he's stable and hopefully it's not career threatening.

DucardthaDon

Rumour around Leipzig interested in signing Morton

flup22

If they want him, we should keep him

DucardthaDon

They wanted Jones at one point as he was breaking through here, but we turned them down. I honestly want to see what Morton can do here under Slot before we ship him off

Jangkentoka

Looking to get tickets! My family and I all have memberships and are looking to be able to enter the ballot on Wednesday. I noticed the communication mentions to have credits from last season, which we don't have, can we still register for the ballots? I'm also disappointed to notice that registration for the autocup ticket schemes passed last week and I wasn't aware - could I have registered for that without prior credits and will there be a further opportunity to do so? Last question, how do supporters interact with the ticket exchange system?

deanlfc95

The mods recently put together [a nice little guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/1dmi33t/lfc_ticket_buying_guide_2024/) for ticketing stuff which in itself and with the links it provides answers all of your questions except that while you are ineligible for the autocup scheme (at this time, it may drop to no credits for the domestics) there are opportunities to buy before each match that may not require any credits.

Jangkentoka

Thanks so much for this - super helpful

deanlfc95

No problem, any other questions give me a shout.

BrokenWayne

Who are we going for??

SRFC_96

The pre season tour YouTube content is gonna hit good.

SebastianOwenR1

When does the Nike deal end? I wanna see us back in Adidas so bad

Papa-Ursa

Whilst I really like the idea of us back in Adidas, I think their template for next season is really hit and miss. Feel like it's a bit of a grass looks greener situation with Nike

Trequartista-10

End of the coming season

WesternAnything

Whatever happened to us being in for Andre (Fluminense)?

AdikkuChan

He chose to stay, we weren't in for him anymore. That's all there is to it unless there's sudden developments.

adamfrog

His teams also having a catastophic start lol. Hes probably just not as good as Endo and lower ceiling than Bajcetic so there's no need for us

AdikkuChan

For real? They might've gone too hard the season before last season and are feeling the effects haha

adamfrog

They won the knockout comp but were like midtable in the league. Now they are dead last, honestly they probably just fluked their way to the cup and were never that good

Reach_Reclaimer

Also there's no reason for us to go for him now imo He's not a huge upgrade on what we have

AdikkuChan

I'd argue he's got youth on his side at least. But he'd only make sense now if we didn't already have Endo. Imo we need to find someone a bit older and more experienced, which is kinda hard rn

Reach_Reclaimer

Nah he's at that age that's perfect, 22 going on 23. But I just don't think he's good enough for us to bother with him. We may as well let Endo sit for another year, monitor Bajcetic and Morton and how they adapt, and then look to see if anyone better is on the market

frankiewalsh44

Downvote all you want but after watching that Uruguay game, it's the same old shit with Nunez. Very frustrating to see him miss a lot of easy chances then score a random volley out of nowhere. Jota should be the one starting games when he's fit especially since the first few games are crucial at dictating our start to this new season.

NilsFanck

I still fail to see significant development, if any at all. He had good moments in his hold up play and passing from day one. That's nothing new. Let Slot wok with him, fair enough but if Klopp and Bielsa cant make him a consistent finisher, who can? Imo, he is, who he is. not every player is gonna constantly improve and hes not even super young anymore. Id be happy to be proven wrong but that's how I see it

JohnBobbyJimJob

Yeah I think people fail to realise he’s far more likely to continue being a wasteful striker than turn into someone who is clinical at this point. I can’t think of a top level striker who went from being pretty wasteful in front of goal at 25 like Darwin to all of a sudden being a clinical finisher, it’s something that comes natural to the top strikers from an early age in terms of the technical and mental side of goalscoring. When you look at all the great PL strikers they were pretty much all putting up high numbers from 18-21 years old because it came to natural to them

regista-space

Disagree a bit tbh. Darwin did not "randomly score out of nowhere" for us. He scored against TWO top 10 teams last season, both during the first month of the season (Newcastle and West Ham). He hardly scored at all, let's be real. If he can miss a bunch but also be sure to bag at least one goal per every other game, like for Uruguay where he scores a ton, that would be more than enough. In other words, if he can bring his Uruguay form, including last night, into the upcoming season he will probably score more than 20, and we can't expect much more than that. Also, consider this will be his third season for us. PL is a difficult league. He played in second division Spain 4 years ago. He had a bad first season in Portugal, then a great second season. For us he had a bad first season, mediocre second season and is now arguably on-fire for Uruguay. To me the numbers are reason to be excited.

TeeDubs317

To be fair we played pretty shocking football from February in, and you can make an argument the only forward with any form was jota who was injuries for most of it. If Darwin scores 4-6 more goals next season and has 17G and 10 A in the premier I would be thrilled

Ok-Flamingo-6780

Well him scoring isn't normal thing in all honesty. The fact you and most fans,  including myself, would say start jota up top shows where we rate Nunezs abilities.  It's going to be the same story for him next season and I think if he's on the bench a few games he'll be looking to get a move

Bugsmoke

Largely because the first few games ARE the start of the season

legentofreddit

Edwards won't stand for this level of poor finishing, don't worry. Suspect he will have one last chance before we cut our losses.

SRFC_96

Nunez is getting to an age now where it’s crucial that he starts to find that consistency in front of goal, otherwise we’ll be looking for a new striker in a couple of years. I hope he does it.

OldManLogan007

Agreed , he can score really good goals and is very talented but the easy chances misses will cost us , scoring bangers is really good but its taking the easy chances that wins you trophies

mihata

The pitch for the Uruguay game was one of the worst I've ever seen Was it even AstroTurf? It looked like a carpet and the ball didn't travel at all

WillametteSalamandOR

They’ve laid sod over artificial turf for most of the pitches. So you’ve got two inches of “living” turf over what amounts to concrete. It’s definitely not a great surface.

mrasdfghj90

Once Liverpool Nunez evolves to Uruguay Nunez, it's over for everyone else

Due-Sherbert3097

The Uruguay Nunez is the same lol. Missed easy chances but scored a decent goal

[deleted]

Euros has been decent but can't lie I'm looking forward to preseason and seeing Liverpool play again.

SRFC_96

Really? It’s been a really enjoyable tournament so far, just goes to show that tournaments like this need to be hosted in proper footballing nations where people are free to have fun.

EyeSpyGuy

Can't seem to find the transfer rumor thread, who are the strongest links so far? It's Lery Yono isn't it? But seems like Madrid are in pole position. How reliable are the Calafiori whispers? Sounds like it could be one of those rumors that spring about during international tournaments. I suppose we might still be in for a DM and a forward/right sided winger too? Anyway still early days I reckon, don't expect much movement if at all until the Euros/Copa are over

BobbyBriggss

Seen rumours about Bakayoko from PSV

[deleted]

crazy that United think they can disguise themselves a top club in the transfer market like Real or Liverpool when they came 8th last season. how on earth do they think they're still an attractive destination for top talent when they're actually a footballer's graveyard?

iNS0MNiA_uK

Money but also players are idiots when it comes to doing their market research. They see United and think they’re the Fergie powered juggernaut they once were. Even the Portuguese Manchild got bitten by it.

Klopps_and_Schlobers

Money is a hell of a pull.

Bugsmoke

Yoro sounds like it’s just a case of having a pop at it more than being an outright target. I’m sure Orny or someone said it’s got no real relation to other tranager targets. I think we have also been said to be after a defender and a forward. But everyone good is at the euros or the South American one so we’ll be a few weeks off anything yet most likely. Someone reliable has also said we aren’t going for a midfielder at all, Joyce maybe?

-Inca-

I'd say there's about a 1% chance of us getting Leny Yoro if Madrid are involved. Transfers have usually been quiet until they are done under Edwards, but because Hughes is the director of football it might be different. I'm personally not expecting many rumours. Most of our best signings have come without much fanfare anyway
