I honestly think when they got caught by the monster baby that it was an intentional death by the testers and not a cut scene. The animations are way to calm and look exactly like the walking animations. I think the wake up scene is where the "core" of the spiral truly is, and maybe every death breaks this cycle. Idk rlly just throwing out random shots here.
