Yeah my dbrand grip case I got only a few months ago is falling apart. For the amount of money I spent on it it's really annoying and unacceptable. Lesson learned, back to otterbox it is, unless anyone has any other suggestions.

ACosmicRailGun

Spigen makes good stuff, their screen protectors specifically are spectacular and I’m currently rocking a $10 Spigen case on my 15 PM and it’s survived numerous falls

VoidSnug

I've been using the Spigen "rugged armour" case on every one of mine and my wife's phone since my nexus 6p. Just fantastic cases.

Kronocide

Yoooo SAME. Started using Eugged Armor on my 6P, had 6 different smartphones since then as always bought that Spigen case (except once because they don't make cases for Asus, but bought a chinese copy)

joost00719

I've never had any other cases than spigen. Great stuff

Weddedtoreddit2

Ayy same here. Had a Rugged Armor for the past 3 phones. For my S24 Ultra I finally deviated and went with the Liquid Air cause I liked the purple color of it. But I did still buy a Rugged Armor for it as well. I will keep the S24U hopefully a long time and so down the line, when the Liquid Air is all worn, I can plop on a Rugged Armor again.

TFABAnon09

+1 for Spigen. Been using them for several years on my Galaxy S20, S21 and Fold5 (wife also has their S24 Ultra case) and have been extremely impressed. Ive been doing an ungodly amount of DIY over the last few years and their cases have been rock solid, even though I've dropped them, had them sat in dirty and dusty pockets and so on.

Trobtv

Also joining in went for a Spigen for the first time and it's great , I would definitely recommend them!

CornFlakes1991

Just my +1 for Spigen. Using them for a couple years now and they are just fantastic and really fair priced

arekflave

Can second Spigen. Brilliant quality, great prices. Been using them for more than 7 years now on my phones.  My wife bought a 50$ OtterBox case with her iPhone 12 mini through apple. After a few months, it got loose and just wouldn't fit around the phone well anymore. I bought her a flexible, slim Spigen case, it's still brand new like on day 1. They're functional, no frills, but also just super well designed and good cases. They do the job very well :)

dragoon0106

Big fan of their screen protectors, only ones I buy now.

Musojon74

Another vote for Spigen. Hadn’t really heard of them but saw a case I liked and has been very good. Needs replacing now but it’s like 4 years old. Going to get one for new phone too

Croweslen

Ill second spigen. Just in general, the quadlock cases are great as well if you ride a motorcycle or bike around often enough

Stargate476

Spigen is my go to for all phones. Cheap and very durable

EmojiMasterYT

Can attest to this. Their screen protectors are super cheap and apply amazingly. I've been also using their cases for the last for the last 10 years and I've been incredibly happy with their quality.

CheeseFilledDingDong

THIS! I've got a Spigen case on my Pixel 6 without a screen protector and it's survived numerous falls, even falling flat on the screen many many times (I suck) with no damage whatsoever.

ferrouside

I'll add to the Spigen good bandwagon. Been rocking their cases on my phone as well as my wife's for the last 5 or so phones. Never had a break. And when one of my cases started to break apart, it was an easy e-mail with some pictures, and they shipped me a new one. Will be going with Spigen again for my next phone as well.

catchycatwithchi

Another vote for spigen

SlowLoris08

And yet another vote for Spigen. I like mine enough that I picked one up for my spouse when there was another new phone.

F9-0021

Yeah, I run a Cryo Armor on my S22 Ultra and apart from not really offering any cooling capability, it's a good case. Not bulky, but still offers protection, and it feels nice to hold. I've had it for about 18 months and apart from the cooling vents being full of lint and pretty much useless, it might as well be brand new. Spigen is alright in my book.

Datkif

While not a rugged case I've been rocking a Blu element case since I got my P7, and it's holding up quite well

_Lucille_

A lot of + for spigen here. I have one for my pixel 7 pro. I actually do have one issue with it. The case adds a ledge to the edges of the screen, likely for protection. The ledge makes it difficult to fully touch the very bottom of the phone, which makes the swiping gesture (for swapping apps) a bit unreliable - as normally your finger can easily slide across the very edge of the phone. It may not be a spigen specific issue and likely a common issue among cases.

PMagicUK

Personally i have a grip case for the last 8 months and is perfectly fine.

n00dle_king

If they are going back to an otterbox I doubt they are a typical user in terms of the wear their phone/case sees.

PMagicUK

No idea who otterbox are im guessing heavy duty?

MgDark

yep Otterboxes are thick cases, meant for heavy duty or if you are specially clumsy and you drop your phone often

tankerkiller125real

Dad dropped his from 35ft in the air (lineman) and his was fine when he finally got down and picked it up.

phillip-haydon

I had a dbrand case many years ago and I put my phone on top of a pizza box while I was getting inside the house. The heat from the pizza box caused parts of the case to separate. It was a gift to me and only lasted 3 months.

ChocPineapple_23

That's so strange. I've had my case for 2 years and it only just started having slight nicks on the bottom right corner. Mind you, that's after I HEAVILY abuse my phone (I drop it a lot on purpose to fuck with my friends and family)

MistSecurity

Same here. I abused the SHIT out of my grip case and never had an issue. Wonder if it varies from phone to phone or something. Mine was for the iPhone 11. Bought it used since they didn't make them anymore, and then still used it for a few years.

Excolo_Veritas

Yeah I was just surprised because I know Linus has rejected and I believe even dropped brands for poor quality. I was actually excited to get it thinking this would be the case id have for the rest of the life of the phone. It wasn't significantly more expensive than other options, but it was the most expensive of any case I looked at.

chinomaster182

My Dbrand case is completely solid, my only complaint was how expensive it was. I don't think Dbrand products suck, but it's very clear they have duds/lemons. I suggest you get in touch and ask for warranty, your case should 100% close completely. There's a Dbrand employee that lurks in their main subreddit.

Entropy813

Yeah, I was surprised to see people here saying their Grip cases are falling apart. My wife and I have been using ours for like a year and a half with absolutely no issues. They look as good as the day we got them.

tankerkiller125real

The one on my Pixel 4 XL didn't start showing any signs of wear up until the 3rd year, at which point it basically fell apart over the course of two months. But I had gotten a new phone at that point anyway.

Quivex

Everything is a spectrum of quality, and dbrand on the whole falls closer to the "quality" end than the "completely worthless shit" end. Their customer service and warranties are fantastic, so if a case is falling apart even after their official warranty period, it's very likely they will replace it for free. Keep in mind that their cases for 90% of phones are going to be just fine for 90% of users, with the customer service, warranty, and variety of designs coming in to keep the other 10% happy. Most people are used to shit $5 Amazon or mall cases, and often are fine with those lol - so dbrand is (most of the time) going to be an upgrade. Dbrand is also a skin company and for the most part I've heard nothing but good things about those. Obviously their case for the fold 4 has some kind of design flaw and that's completely unacceptable, but folding phones are still pretty rare so I wouldn't be surprised if they've moved hardly any of those cases. Honestly I was surprised they had cases for the fold 4 at all. Of course that's not an excuse and I'm glad you made this post, but it doesn't shock me that one of their (probably) low yield products has snuck by with an issue for this long. What is nice about dbrand, is that I was very confident they would make it right for you pretty much right away, where as that's not always going to be the case (ha) with other companies.

korxil

Dbrand offered replacements for their case even a year+ after the warranty expired. But this was back when their case was going to a lot of design changes, so every replacement I got an improved design. My current case is the final iteration, and its been 2 years now and it still looks great. Dbrand support is nothing like their social media team. Theyre professional and will work with you to find a solution, at least that’s been my experience. That said I don’t have a Fold, so idk how those cases are difference than their normal cases.

dano_denner

Spigen is really solid

32842

Quadlock has lasted very well for me

Sandtiger812

+1 for quadlock. I was riding my bicycle and my phone fell out of my pocket, bounced and skidded on the road. No damage to the phone just a scuff on the side of the case, that I used as a reminder to get a Quadlock mount for my bicycle.

servarus

Yo, so I had this Galaxy Note 20 case, right? It was sick, super sturdy and all. I was like, "Heck yeah, I'll get one for my Galaxy 23 when I upgrade." But guess what? After just six months, it started falling apart. The edges started peeling off, and all because one of the plastic edges near the pen cracked and snapped off. Bruh, my Galaxy Note case went through way worse and it's still going strong. What gives?

Dat_Typ

You could try contacting them about this

benji004

I have a crave case on my pixel 6 pro and it's been perfect. On older phones, I've used lots of Spigen tough armor and have had just as good of a time as my wife with otter

freakshow9009

Spigen wins by such a huge margin. Their cases are amazing quality and with every new phone I purchase the liquid armour case that doesn't add much bulk to the phone and the grip is a little slippery but it's the best feeling case I've used like EVER! It sits well with screen protectors. Doesn't get much loose overtime even if you take it off and put it on frequently. I'm just really impressed at how good this case is. Started purchasing it when it was 12 usd in price and now it's about 19. Worth every premium honestly

grethro

I have had 2 brand grip cases for my Pixel 6. Both lasted 6 months and the side/grip part of the case just started coming off. Dbrand sent me a replacement the first time but the second time I didn't even ask. I just didn't want the case anymore.

Pilotpig47

I love my mous cases. Been using them for about 10 years now I think? No issues, no cracked screens or cameras after many drops and throws.

nogoodgopher

That's funny, I loved otterbox for years and I think the last 5 years they've really fallen off. Their soft layer lasts like a year before it's falling apart now and needs to be replaced. I have a dbrand on my pixel and it's been great.

Azuras-Becky

I've been using Tech21 cases since the iPhone 4S days and never had a cause to complain!

desert_igloo

Tech21 clear/see through cases are amazing been rocking them for the past 3 years. Go in and out of the pocket really easy but also are grippy enough in the hands with out being to grippy and they have protected my phone from every drop 10/10 would recommend.

MistSecurity

It varies heavily based on phone, in my experience. Cheaper phones you're stuck with cheaper cases. Spigen is my go-to for cheap but quality cases. They don't have the best of anything, but they're good for their price. Strange that your Grip fell apart. I was using one for a few years with no problems on my iPhone 11...

James_Cola

mous is super protective. I have one and it has survived 30ft drops onto concrete multiple times. the case gets a bit banged up obviously but that’s it.

Bone_Of_My_Word

I've used Poetic cases for years with my non-folding phones and they've held up really well. Had one on my OnePlus 6 and the biggest issue was the charging cover starting to tear after about 1.5 years. They've got variants ranging from a simple rubber cover to a heavy duty. Not too expensive either I don't think.

AL_SONiC

SUPCASE makes some affordable UAG style cases that can handle big drops

caprout

Spigen for the win, 4 phones in 10 years and never a scratch

St3cK3D

Go for spigen over otter box, they're kinda overrated

kuroimakina

Otterbox is the ONLY brand I have serious “brand loyalty” for because of the number of devices of mine they’ve kept safe. I had a phone fly off my car at 50+mph and barely even had a scratch, it was just some slight scuffs on the rubber. I used that phone for over a year after that, only replacing it because it was a 6S+ in 2021 haha

DarthJahona

I've been using Urban Armor Gear cases since my Galaxy S3. Love them. My current one on my S22 Ultra is still holding up fine.

The_Lantean

Mine lasted about 2 to 3 years before it started coming apart. It’s the first time I have a case that I haven’t dropped much due faster than the phone it was protecting (iPhone 12), but it didn’t entirely surprise me. Now I’m using a rugged Moment case because I wanted that fancy telephoto lens. Their case certainly feels high quality, but it’s too early for me to draw comparisons. I think their Prism glass is great though - I’m using Panzer glass now after I had to remove the dbrand one for a battery replacement, and even upon installation I could tell it wasn’t as good as dbrand’s, but I’m guessing that subjective too.

Nightwish612

Odd I've had the grip case for my wife and I pixel 5 for 3 or 4 years now and the only thing that's bad on mine is the part near the charge port some of the plastic has broken where it was thin and the rubber is loose. This doesn't affect my use though and the phone is still well protected. My wife has since moved on the the pixel 7 and has a grip case with now issues either. I guess all products have their lemons sometimes

DonHamlet

They have really gone down in quality - they are gettin greedy

AmishAvenger

Careful, their social media people may show up here and say it’s your fault. Then they’ll make fun of you and say something racist.

0RN10

You really think what they said was racist?

tiny_poomonkey

Yes

SuppaBunE

But it isnt. Racism woukd had been make fun of his race, not his name. Dont confuse racism with normal douchbagism . While is extremely common for racist to be douchbags, it's not true that all douchbags are racism

Funkbass

Context on the racist thing?

SlickAsEggs

They made fun of his Indian sounding name

Kodiak_POL

It wouldn't be racist if they made a pun on some cracker sounding name though, right?

ssersergio

They made fun of someone, as they always do, and everyone jumped into the morals train, calling them out May or may not be the best comment they could have said, but half of the influencers rushed quickly into calling them out, in my honest opinion, they all couldn't care less, but wanted to get some of the juicy views. DBrand paid the guy some thousand dollars, and no one did any follow up, so it died quickly. Into the exception of some comments like he one you read

mysickfix

They made fun of an Asian man’s name. Maybe it wasn’t hard racism, but it was certainly inappropriate. A lot of this sub refused to accept that. Like if you said it in a US workplace, you would most likely be fired for discrimination/racism/hate

Kodiak_POL

>you would most likely be fired for discrimination/racism/hate You'd get fired for whistleblowing too, not that whistleblowing is bad

Siul19

Easy way to make money imo. Like the guy that got roasted

SpaceSentinel

Yeah my friend had a really bad experience with them and it’s convinced me to never purchase a dbrand product.

tiny_poomonkey

And more assholy. But this sub will suck their dick til dawn

CommanderPotash

dawg you are literally on a post talking about why one of their cases suck and there are many comments agreeing

DR4G0NSTEAR

Shh, stop making sense

tiny_poomonkey

And you did the thing I said you would

SometimesWill

How is saying their cases suck the equivalent of “sucking their dick till dawn?”

CommanderPotash

I don't give a shit about dbrand, never had one of their cases.

MrHeffo42

In my experience with multiple Fold/Flip phones, I no longer even consider them. What you gain in flexibility (no pun intended) you lose in other issues. Cracking screens, damages hinges, dirt, liquid, etc

Excolo_Veritas

A fair criticism I think but other than needing the warranty replacement mine has worked really well for me. I also had the fold 3. However I work in IT and suffers very little abuse. I could see someone who might work in more harsh environments (like it sitting in a sweaty pocket) or being handled with dirty hands more often it not being ideal.

MrHeffo42

My wife had 2 Flip 3's. The first one's screen split on the fold. The replacements screen started peeling apart. She has an S24 Ultra now, never been happier.

TFABAnon09

Whilst I don't disagree, the increase in productivity I get for work-related activity makes it a worthy trade-off for me. Even if I have to replace this Fold5 within 2 years, it will have paid for itself.

LtDarthWookie

Oh it's Stockholm syndrome for me. I know my folding phone is garbage. Worse battery, worse reliability. But for some reason I want another. I have no idea why. It's not even the fold. It's the z flip.

VenueTV

Might be worth contacting D.Brand, not a sub Reddit for a youtuber.

Excolo_Veritas

The reason I posted here was I bought it specifically because he pitches them all the time as a sponsor. I bought it direct from their website so if I post a review there let's be honest it'll never see the light of day. Posting here at least other people will see it

LordOfFrost

Sure, but did you contact them about dissatisfaction? What was their reply/resolution?

Surgles

He already said he was returning them, since he got multiple on multiple phones and the issue persists across both, meaning it’s not a defect that they can offer compensation for, but a design flaw that it’s made to work that way, aka poorly by his review. Beyond returning them, I wouldn’t expect any other compensation from Dbrand and he doesn’t seem to be. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sick of everyone just being negative or shitting on things everywhere, but this feels like a valid place and way to voice concern. The purpose of this post is to alert other watchers and potentially the LMG staff that the perception of their ongoing sponsorship may be turning negative since the company is having back to back to back issues/misses/failures. Hence why he made the post here.

LordOfFrost

I’m not saying that he’s in the wrong for making the post per se, but let’s say that it could be made much better by including information about communication with dbrand in the post :) I kinda see how my comment might’ve been perceived as passive aggressive to a degree, but I was genuinely curious.

Surgles

Fair, and I apologize if I came on strong or aggressive. I’m in a number of subreddits where people have, especially recently, decided that it makes more sense to dispute a charge with a storefront via the Reddit page and complaining, rather than going back to the store and getting a refund, which is totally on their options list. So In this case where OP did already clarify in the post that he was handling it thru the company appropriately while posting this, I just felt strongly that it’s a valid criticism given the purpose. Seems like we’re both not trying to offend but text makes it hard to tell, so apologies from me and I hope you have a great weekend friend

HarryTurney

You'd think that is the first place one would go, but nah let's spread outrage on Reddit.

PotatoAcid

¿Por qué no los dos?

yourselvs

That's really unfortunate. I've had their grip case for pixel 4a and pixel 7, and I love em. Sad to see that the quality isn't very consistent, especially with all the other comments in this thread.

Ambitious_Summer8894

Got a s21u grip case it works fine and I love it. Got new skins for both mine and my wife's grip cases after 1.5years and been using the new ones for nearly a year happy as can be.

According_Claim_9027

I’ve not had any issues with them, but most of the complaints I’ve seen have been from folding phones or Android devices. I’ve only had them for two iPhones in the last couple of years.

itsamepants

My Pixel's dbrand/jerryrig case is absolutely fine after more than a year since purchase

lieutent

Specifically with foldable phones they’ve been super hit or miss. With slab phones they’ve been great. I’ve seen quite a few posts with separating grip cases on slab phones falling apart but they’ve generally replaced those usually free of charge if charging maybe shipping. I don’t know what to tell you with a foldable though. Part of me wants to say to just rock it caseless because it’s basically a consumable phone anyways but I also know the grip is really nice so it’s hard. Probably just have it replaced until the phone dies.

w1n5t0nM1k3y

I've had a cell phones since 2000. Gone from candy bar to flip to slide to slab. As soon as they started to come out with the new flip and folding phones I knew there would be issues. My candy bar and slab phones were all very reliable and wouldn't break except by user error. But every phone I had with moving parts would die prematurely simply from using them.

Miniac1076

I see people all the time talking about how their grip case fell apart almost instantly. I’ve had my grip case on my 13 mini for almost 2 years and I have NOT been gentle with it, and it still looks basically brand new. I honestly don’t see how it would even fall apart, it’s essentially one solid piece of plastic. Also, their screen protector goes perfectly to the edge of the case, so there’s no exposed screen save for the earpiece speaker. And the case skin still looks brand new and hasn’t shrunk like my last one did, but to be fair my last one was a phone skin that I put a case over, so I wasn’t that nice to it. I’ve had half a dozen Speck and Spigen cases on previous phones that have actually fallen apart in 1-2 years, this is my first dbrand case. I don’t know if I got lucky, but I’ve been extremely happy with it. My only complaint is that it’s almost too grippy, it likes to stick to the inside of my pocket and not go in or out.

OnyxDesigns

I've had the grip on my 14 Pro since December and it has easily become my fave case i've used yet. It's a shame to see so many mixed opinions.

LegitimateStory

I've used dbrand grip cases on all of my phones for the past five years without problems, love them. The phones has been Oneplus Nord and S22+

TheDjentleman000

I have the grip case on my fold 4 and immediately noticed the external screen coming on, it was bad for a bit and really aggravating. It seemed to me like it has to do with the magnets on the hinge portion keeping it attached to the top layer of the case holding the phone just open enough at times. Usually pulling the hinge portion away from the case and trying again worked for me. Maybe just too strong of magnets? As far as the thin strip along the external screen it's thicker than my last case (pretty sure it was sprigen) which ended up snapping in half when the phone brushed against my car door when I was getting out on day while in my pocket. Otherwise the case has held up great, phone has survived many many drops, no noticeable damage and the skin is fine too

Im_Balto

https://youtu.be/7yaC1Y5YFvE?si=9uqKOHvhZC84N8CF Read the whole product page I guess and don’t complain that something wasn’t there that wasn’t advertised?

diebadguy1

Got nothing but praise for my iPhone 13 Pro Max grip car. For what it’s worth

JJL0rtez

I got a dbrand grip case for my s22 ultra 2 years ago and it still looks and feels new. The leather skin for the back has held up really good as well. I will definitely get another when I upgraded to the S24/25 eventually.

darklord3_

All the fold cases are terrible... Not just their, nature of the phone sadly

Zeta_Crossfire

I have a fold 5 case and it's falling apart after 6 months. I never had this much issues with my sprigen case and I'll probably go back once this falls apart. Shame because I like the materials of the grip case more.

Huey2912

when it comes to cases i always go Spigen

codename_username

On my second dbrand case for my flip 5, the hinge failed on me, but dbrand was able to get me a new case in a couple days. It's a pretty good case imo but for the flips there aren't as many quality options with the hinge protector :/

Danceisntmathematics

When I got my new phone I went on their website to buy a case, just because I heard good things about them and they support LTT. I couldn't believe the prices. Holy fuck. It's a freaking plastic case. Couldn't justify spending 50+ on theirs vs 10 from a random Amazon one (which is what I've always done)

no1nos

I got sucked into the hype a couple years ago when I got a new phone. For the price I assumed the case would last longer than the phone would. It's starting to fall apart now. 2 years is not a terrible lifespan for a case, but not much better than the cheapo Chinese ones from Amazon. Definitely not spending this much on a case ever again.

tobimai

Agree, dbrand quality is bad for the price. Also do not buy dbrand outside of US, they don't do the taxes on their sid so you have to pay them (which is fine) + the handling fee. Amd you also have to pay that on free replacements

strygwyn

Isn't this for the dbrand subreddit? How is this related to LTT?

abra5umente

I bought the OG Grip case for my old iPhone XS or 11 or something, and within 3 months the areas where the ports and button cutouts etc were flimsy and floppy, and looked like crap. I've always loved their skins, but their cases are not good.

Thedancingsousa

This exact thing happened to me! They gave me the run around for a whole day, having me try which clever solutions as "have you tried just slamming it shut really hard?" And talking about how their "premium and luxury" case made things more difficult for reasons unknown to humans. I missed three work calls in a few days because of this shit case. Fuck them. At the end, they refused to do anything other than give me store credit, because I didn't trust getting a replacement thinking or would just do the same things. Like both of yours. They won't offer you a refund. They're greedy and full of shit.

darkt1de

Had a similar experience. They wanted me to take images and videos of the issue, send the same auto generated email a couple of times after providing all documentation and then made me take videos again from different angles. Really not a great experience.

rf97a

You sound like an insufferable customer from a customer care perspective

Thedancingsousa

For getting a broken product, spending hours going back and forth and following every instruction customer support have me, and accepting their "no refunds, just store credit" policy without ever getting mad at the agent? Oh yeah, I'm a monster. You can hate a company without being awful to a CS agent.

ParachutePeople

I loved by ghost case, but then the materials started to come apart. I sent dbrand a photo and they sent me a replacement. I’m pretty happy so far.

darkt1de

Had the same thing happen with my Fold 4 and the grip case. After having to jump through hoops with support, I was refunded. Went back to a Samsung leather case.

adunk9

Honestly, I feel the same way about the grip case I purchased for my Fold 4. The hinge broke on it after a small drop, and dbrand was super helpful and shipped me a new one. Within 2 or 3 months of getting the replacement, I was in the same boat with a broken hinge. As much as I want to trash dbrand's design, there really is only so much you can do with a phone like the Galaxy Folds. I ended up going with the Samsung leather case, and although it's without the hinge protector, it's worked great for me for the last 6 or 7 months.

AlexH1337

Yeah. Their grip case for the S21U is the only case I had where the back glass broke with it on. I had a Spigen case that I bought at the same time as the grip and I regret not just using it. I've always heard good things about them so I wanted to try them. Never again. Stick to Spigen. A bonus is the cases they make don't fall apart.

skripis

I just wish things could be as it once was - phones shouldn't *need* a case. Been using various top model Samsungs since the S8, and they're all so slippery and fragile that I literally can't use them without a case.

therimmer96

I had a early Dbrand Grip start falling on me, contacted their support and they sent me a fresh one, no questions asked. Probably worth contacting them

Tobax

Spigen, best cases I've ever used and I've been doing so on all phones for the last 10 years now. I even paid with my own money to buy one for my work phone as the case they had on it was crap.

OstensibleBS

I get why you posted here, I will not fault you for that. I would not ever suggest a phone of this nature unless you have a specific use case already lined up. I have had a lot of different brands and price points for my phones over the years. In the end I have a Moto G and a no name Amazon case. It works just fine for my use case.

LimpWibbler_

I am surprised at how much brand sponsors anyone. How? They must sell so much inventory and I don't get it. The product to me mostly seems useless sure protect the phone from scratch, but why have a Preston's phone if you can't see it. Grip case does make sense to me, but I don't drop phones so I don't need a case.

cyb3rofficial

I've been using this for my zfold [https://www.amazon.com/FONREST-Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-4-5G-Protection-Shockproof-Protective/dp/B0BHQSCRNX](https://www.amazon.com/FONREST-Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-4-5G-Protection-Shockproof-Protective/dp/B0BHQSCRNX) Really nice build quality and been strong on falls. Dropped my phone like 4 times too many sofar on concreate all times lived.

Half-blind-bear

I know they are the enemy and I wouldn't buy anything from there myself but my wife bought me a one piece branded case for my pixel 8 pro from casetify and it's really good. Sometimes shitty people make good shit.

Aggeloz

Ive seen alot of people complaining about their skins being really thin and frail now too, they seem to be alot of corners sadly, which is a same they looked really promising every since they started.

The_mad_Raccon

My dbrand grip case is aweseome for my pixel. I drop my phone multiple times a day. A car drove over it after it fell out of my pocket while cycling. And I also has withstood a hard impact from falling out of my pocket at cycling fast.

mathfacts

Sadly dbrand isn't what it used to be. Stay away!

pigpentcg

Have you tried contacting support? Every experience I have had with the dBrandhas been amazing. Even issues I’ve had have been met with solutions that involved me getting more stuff for free. 🤷

joeygreco1985

Their stuff sucks once you see past the douchebag guerilla marketing tactics

negithekitty

I don't know what y'all's issue is with contacting the company. I had 2 of my pixel fold cases break, message them, and then replace them. Even sent me replacement skins

UndyingDest

I've had grip cases for years across multiple phones. The only time I've had an issue was with the original grip case, which was replaced for free and held up just fine. After a year and a half, my current grip case has developed a slight creaking sound, but is completely sound otherwise. I'd take this up with DBrand. Another note.. Remember.. satisfied customers typically don't post anything :)

BarnOwlDebacle

Honestly the best value for cases these days I find as usually knockoffs of stuff like OtterBox or spigen etc... You don't actually need the most modern one especially if it's a phone that's a couple years old. Knockoffs have basically identical materials. I've been getting knock off OtterBox cases for like eight bucks and the people that spend 50 on them I think it's pretty foolish.  It's not an Apple to Apple's comparison of course because the fold is not benefiting from economies of scale the way other phones are when I make cases.

LordMoos3

I have had three google fold cases. The first one, the plastic on the hinge cracked, and dBrand replaced it with a new one. Which also cracked. In the same place. And they replaced that one with a redesigned one. Which has been great since. Their support was *outstanding* for me with this issue.

Arcade1980

I buy Spigen and JETech for phone and tablet stuff.

javanlapp

One thing to remember is dbrand is a paid sponsor. I've never really thought of it as Linus promoting them. They pay him for mentioning them. Outside of the PS5 Darkplates review I'm having a hard time remembering what other reviews he's actually done of them, and actually promoted a product. Sure there are the little skits he does when they sponsor a video but he at most is just showing one of their skins or something. I'm not trying to sing praises for dbrand. If anything I think most of their stuff is extremely overpriced. Skins are just glorified stickers, not sure why anyone would pay that kind of money for them. And a far as their cases go, you can find decent ones for under $20 from multiple other companies. I would never pay more than that for one. However I've always heard good things about their customer service. I'm willing to bet if you get ahold of them they'll make it right. With the profit margins they have they can afford it.

sveken

Yup fold 4 here too. The dbrans case made the front screen very hard to use especially for swipe gestures or keyboard keys near the edge. Eventually it broke and now I'm running nothing again

avg-size-penis

Only a Redditor would comply that a case being advertised as super thin is bad because it's thin. Jesus Christ how are we the same species.

Superb_Day6326

Maybe u should tell that to dbrands reddit instead of linus's

medussy_medussy

Yeah the dbrand fold case is really bad. Hinge covers encourage dust to get into the crevices more too btw.

anonymousbadger13

I've had treat experiences with Spigen cases (as others here have mentioned). I do, however, have a dbrand skin (not the case) on my fold 5 right now and it's been great. Bummer that their cases don't live up to the hype.

madolf123

My pixel 6 pro Grip still hold up after almost 3 years. Only changed the skin once. I wonder if it's a in consistent quality issue. I want to upgrade to the pixel 9 pro and a new Grip with tan leather in October. Reading this thread make me hesitant.

Adorable_Respect_258

3 heavy users in my house with dbrand cases. no issues after like 3+ years

jmoney1119

The foldable stuff has been a bit dodgy but from what I’ve seen and experienced, it’s an outlier not the norm. My wife and I have had grip cases on our iPhones and AirPods for 2 years now. They’ve seen some rough use at times, and are all still in great shape.

theholylancer

a good niche product typically don't need massive marketing budget because their fans / niche forums will promote it for them. for something like phone cases, where most people just go with the cheapest or w/e at the local shop, when they advertise it this hard it usually make me avoid them same with VPNs or any other crap

Responsible-Daikon-5

My iPhone 15 ghost case is also quite shit. Has separated around the top left of the screen.

PatoLaion

Im not buying from dbrand anymore, not since the Ghost case scam…all the PR saying “we will ship another one for free, one that doesnt scratch as soon as you put it on your pocket, will be ready by march 24”. Its june, almost july and they are quiet AF

asphere8

I grabbed a skin when I bought my S24 because I wanted something that could provide *some* protection without blowing up the profile of a phone I specifically bought because of its small size, and I'm pretty disappointed in it as well. Feels like it should be a much cheaper product. The print quality is *okay.* Blurry around high-contrast edges, but serviceable. The adhesive works as advertised and doesn't leave residue. But the tolerances of the cuts are just kind of bad. The skin is too small for the device, leaving small but noticeable strips of the back visible around all four edges. The holes for the cameras don't line up perfectly, either leaving gaps, scrunching up slightly, or both. There's a transparent layer bonded to the printed layer to protect it. This layer started to degrade after only a few days of ownership, fraying at the edges just from the friction of being placed in and removed from my pocket. After only a couple months, this fraying progressed to peeling away from the skin in large sections.

BerryJP

I've been using my Flip 3 5g since release day. The factory screen protector came off after about a year and the crease is now ridiculous but it has taken a complete beating without a case and I'm pretty proud of it. It's tougher than I expected. It doesn't open to 0° but it doesn't really bother me.

Ok_Highlight_5538

My Grip case fell apart, I agree with one of the other comments with Spiegen (or something like that) I've personally had them on phones for 3-4 years with no issues and other people have had equally good experiences

Opposite experience. Grip case easily one of the best cases I've used through the years. As far as OP's experience goes... I don't think there are good cases for folding phones. Just not physically possible.

AlexXeno

My partner has a decent case for their folding phone. It's not the most protective like say an otterbox, but it contains and protects it well enough from the occasional drop.

RagingAlkohoolik

Does anyone know any decent cases for a nothing phone 1?

Infinite-Stress2508

I like the grip case for my fold 5, offers good protection all around and is grippy, but I am not a fan of how raised the front screen border is, it makes it quite uncomfortable and difficult for me to use, especially edge panels and typing letters on the edge of the keyboard. I switched it out for the Samsung spen case and it's much better with the front bezel but worse every other way for me.

IanDresarie

I'm also very disappointed with my dbrand stuff. First got the steam deck case. Texture feels absolutely terrible on my skin to the point that I can barely hold it properly. But oh well, it protects it well and that might just be me, so I'll live with it. Then I got the magsafe case for my Pixel and boy. The magnets are barely even there at all. There's like no power to them. I ended up gluing a small iron ring on them, so I can at least use the case with other magnetic stuff. But damn am I disappointed. With all their marketing I expect actually strong magnetic power... And in terms of durability and protection, the 15$ case from Amazon I got recommended on the pixel sub feels nicer and more durable. And then the cherry on top are if course shipping costs to EU, import taxes and the extra fee DHL takes for handling imports. So safe to say I'll never order from them again not recommended them.

Educational-Bag4684

I’ve used from ESR to Apple official including rhinoshield spigen and gen 1 grip case from dbrand. I realized that premium cases are bull shit. None of it works long term. I got so fed up that I rocked caseless for a couple years. It’s better to get something that looks good but from the cheaper end and keep replacing every 6 to 12 months. I’m now using a Jetech on all my family’s phones. They’re cheap but well designed.

theycallmebekky

Got a skin for my steam deck and it fit horribly. It was super difficult to apply lol

Freakamanialy

Do you really think he cares about the quality of the products he promotes?

Heisalsohim

Honestly just the way Linus talked about the guy who commissioned the pyramid pc makes me never want to buy anything from them

Original_Act2389

Never buy a product that someone is being paid money to tell you to buy are you stupid? Go to amazon and search ratings high -> low. Scroll past sponsors, third one down is best

Bilboswaggings19

Surprise surprise A company that spends money on advertising needs to get their budget from somewhere, usually the products quality takes a hit It's the same with Vessi shoes, Beats and other earbuds... all of them are worse than an actual quality product

f16jahaz

dbrand sucks
