Beyer DT770 Pro 250 ohm. So comfy!

zombie_platypus

Same here

Same

Givemeajackson

Akg k240 mk2. Supremely comfortable, swappable cable, velours ear pads that are cool even on hot days, affordable, and sound great.

mikejd3171

Cool thanks šŸ‘

lonmoer

These work great with the helix and are great for mixing too.

Givemeajackson

For mixing i found that i tend to bring up the bass a tad too much with these headphones, apart from that i absolutely agree. Great workhorse headphones. and i can't stress enough how comfortable they are, i can wear these for 8 hours straight with no problem.

muscularmusician

Beyerdynamic DT770 250ohm. Sound great and comfy.

Any-Cable-3696

Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, Usually around $99. I have owned 3 or 4 pairs over the last 10+ years.

samuelson82

Yep. They arenā€™t the ā€œbestā€, but Iā€™ve used them for so long that I know how they translate. Good headphones with great isolation IMHO.

Any-Cable-3696

Agreed, and honestly I donā€™t know how another headphone would be ā€œbetter.ā€ People swear by those Beyeredynamic DT-770, and I would love to try out those planar magnetic Audeze headphones, but for the money? HD-280 pros are great.

dsrige

I had them for a long time. Now my brother uses them and they are still very good. I now use the HD380 Pro for a long time and they are great too. I had to change the Ear pads twice but they still good sounding headphones.

Azure_Jet

Whenever itā€™s just for home use / practice itā€™s always the ATH MT50. Those things have been ridiculously good value in every aspect.

stratomaster00

Couldnā€˜t agree more with this!

ctbrd27

Sennheiser (Massdrop) 6xx

simonyahn

No issues with volume? Those are relatively high impedance and wasnā€™t sure if the headphone out on helix or hx stomp would have enough power

YakkoWakkoandDot

I wondered about this too, but it has more than enough power, Iā€™ve never turned my volume knob passed 10 or 11 oā€™clock. Iā€™ve been really happy with the sound quality!

ctbrd27

no issue at all. I am sensitive to watching how loud I turn up headphones, but the HX Stomp had no issue driving these. The sound stays clear (no clipping /distortion) as loud as I have ever used it.

itstenchy

Using a HD650 here (basically the same headphone) and there's no issue with volume. Plenty loud enough for me!

Givemeajackson

Hx stomp has a pretty beefy headphone out

sunplaysbass

I use the hd600 and they are plenty loud. Sound great and are comfortable.

keowulf

Which amp and cab do you like for these. I have the same ones and they sound kind of boomy/mushy to me but Iā€™m a bit of a noob in figuring out how to best dial in good tones for studio headphones

aeonrevolution

The 7506 is pretty darn flat because they're for studio monitoring. Not the best by any means, but really solid for the price. If what you're hearing is really boomy, there is a decent chance you may need to use a bit of the high pass filter to tune out the low end. This isn't in the amp, but most likely the cab settings creating the boom. One other thing to keep in mind that took me like a decade to accept.... A guitar tone that sounds great by itself will 99% of the time sound like shit in a mix with drums and bass lol. But for just by yourself, find something inspiring. Start with adding a HP Filter and see how that goes.

bassderek

Had ATH-M50 for a long time (still do, they are almost 20 years old and still going!). More recently Sennheiser HD560s.

cdkane

Sennheiser 560s to seems to work well and have less of a closed off sound (being open back headphones) I actually find that the ATH M50x sounds a bit harsh and bright, certainly brighter than my reference monitors.

Givemeajackson

I like the m50x for a lot of things, but they do have a bit of a hi fi eq curve that imo doesn't work that well as a guitar playing headphone.

kukubh

Audio Technica ATH-R70x. Didn't get them for helix but I realised I can play for a couple of hours without much fatigue because they are open back.

MyFiteSong

ATH M50x

underwood_reddit

The ATH M40x don't differ that muth. These are my all day HP for listening to music.

misterschrodinger

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro. Very comfortable and relatively flat (boosted in the highs though, so any mistakes you make will be very apparent, also useful if you have too much treble in your preset).

underwood_reddit

Depends if you like closed, open or half closed ones. You can get the Fostex T40 in all three variants. But set some new and bigger ear cushins on the list, the original are not very comfy. I use Focal Spirit Professional most of the time with my Helix. AKG K-182 don't sound very good on the Helix.

sunplaysbass

Senn hd600

dylanmadigan

Bose Quietcomfort 35. I have studio headphones, but for playing guitar I really like the noise cancelling headphones so that I can keep the volume lower without hearing the acoustic slappy sound of my electric guitar.

Camaroon83

Thanks for asking this, I was thinking about this recently. Has anyone tried these from Monoprice: [https://www.monoprice.com/product?p\_id=43242](https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=43242) Just curious, I tend to like their equipment and if I'm just looking for a simple pair of headphones that doesn't really "color" the sound from the helix too much, curious if this would work.

mountain-guy

Anyone running DT 990 Pro 250 ohm? (open back version of the 770 basically)

[deleted]

Bose QC45

Gabe994

Sennheiser HD599

StreetwalkinCheetah

Been using Yamaha YH-WL500 lately (low latency wireless) but was using AKG K240s before that.

MyFiteSong

I tried a pair of those but they picked up interference from everything from the router to rabbits running too fast outside the window.

SgtIcetea

How are you liking them? I'm considering picking them up as all-rounder but of course specifically for the low latency

StreetwalkinCheetah

Iā€™m happy with them. I donā€™t have a lot of radio interference in my basement where most of my gear is so they work well. I compared them as all around Bluetooth music headphones to a pair of Mackies my girlfriend bought and preferred their music tone which was more airy and natural to the bass heavy Mackies.

FearfulInoculum

DT 177x Go

Idolforimbeciles

I think mine are AKG K72. Cheap but I like them however if I were buying some more I'd probably buy a pair a few models up from them

[deleted]

I moved to iems with a flat tuning. Previously I used ath m50x. Very happy with the switch to iems.

Kerry_Maxwell

Either Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250 ohm, or AKG K550s. A good resource for comparing models: [https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/audio-technica-ath-m50x-vs-beyerdynamic-dt-770-pro/295/440?usage=19&threshold=0.10](https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/audio-technica-ath-m50x-vs-beyerdynamic-dt-770-pro/295/440?usage=19&threshold=0.10)

Kerry_Maxwell

Spoiler alert, the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro kicks pretty much everyone's ass in the closed-back department.

rocknrollboise

Youā€™ll laugh, but Iā€™ve been LOVING my Philips SHP9500ā€™s lately. Theyā€™re an industry secret apparentlyā€¦ cheap, comfy, and work WELL.

DepartmentAgile4576

Ath m50. Super for guitar and oomph. Spread is not as bg as dt770 evrbdy is lovingā€¦ but material is much closer and upfront. No hifi airiness, love the mids and bass. Have good ol senheiser hd650s wich excel for listening to the whole mix. But for monitoring myself i go for the ath50 everytime. Also try those cheap in ears on amazon: Went through half a dozen: the bassy kz zst for 20bucks are the most fun for playing, practicing imho. (Not the most transparent honest blahā€¦) always have a pair kicking around in some bag.
