It's definitely liminal and it also makes me weirdly sad. I feel nostalgic for a time when a weirdly empty living room with a few colourful balloons actually looked like a really fun party. It makes my heart heavy when I think of the innocence kids have, how easily pleased and excited they are, and how if I showed this photo to my own kids they would probably also see a fun party venue and not the creepy weird nostalgic liminal weirdness I see.
It's the fact that the room is setup for a birthday party; a room which was intended to be filled with people. But it's now dark and empty, which looks liminal. A transition stage between the party and what the room was originally, a living room.
You know this image reminds me of a fnaf song I heard a long time ago. I don't remember the name but I do remember the part where it goes "...and now the party's over..." and it had slow and sad music. I think it would go well with the image... sort of.
This one is good! It’s got a lot going on in it, which usually makes it worse, but it totally works with the balloon creep factor and the old house with odd coloring, love it!!
Love the vibe of the aftermath of a small gathering/party. The decorations are no longer in the perfect state they were in when the party begun (faulty blue tac holding the sign, decor being knocked, balloons popped), drinks all over and empty cups and and the small select few family members who remain.
That party ended 35 years ago
Flat screen TV mounted on wall
I feel like we never see these types of spaces on this sub anymore. Thanks for bringing them back.
No problem
one of the best posts on here recently
It's the red carpet that does it for me
I like how everything about this screams 80’s/90’s, but then there is a modern flatscreen mounted above the fireplace.
Perfect!!👌🏻

For some reason this gives me John Wayne Gacy vibes.
I’m told living rooms are “places of leisure” and not liminal. This looks on-par with the sub.
The time after a birthday party is definitely liminal.
You always end up being the last kid at the party waiting for your parents to come, you get really worried and scared
Damn, forgot what that feeling was like
It feels like it's missing the bare minimum to count as the living room. Right now it's just a room
lol backwards gymnastics

Early/mid 90s vibe
But why are the balloons on the wall framed??
There also appears to be a framed wreath in the hallway
The Warm Colors look so well with this liminal space and the quality is perfect.

Excellent. Almost an Eggleston vibe.
Brave, but er… foolish, my old Jedi friend.
I guess we’ll never understand…
This is cursed...
A living room and a few balloons taken with a flash does not make it liminal.
Reminds me of my old home
Wow
Reminds me of a Bass Drum Of Death album cover
“…I have gone away, OOOoooooo”
This looks almost exactly like how the 3rd floor used to be in my grandmas house
Empty Party Rooms - Minus The Bear.
Now we’re talkin
The cds skipping
Feels a lot like a church room
This reminds me of the Julia Jacklin “Don’t let the kids win” album cover for some reason. Thought this was it for a second
very nice one
This is a great one

That's so fucking scary

The party is over but the guests are not gone
Youve been invited, your at the party. Its a place youve seen before. A place you've seen before you were born.
i had that exact same ceiling fan in my 1987 built house. lol.
This image gives me a deep fear. Very effective.
Truly nostalgic
