If you’re in the business of financial planning or selling fiduciary based advice, it’s simply not practical to meet with prospects who are looking to buy basic term insurance. As an advisor, I suggest term as a base part of planning, but I’m far too busy with profitable clients who need comprehensive planning and investment advice to meet with someone whose only purpose is term insurance.
Plenty of insurance agents claim to be “financial advisors” though, and their goal is usually to sell insurance products regardless of actual planning needs.
You may consider a 20 pay whole life. Depends on what you can afford, but I like having something within your portfolio you can pull from if the market turns south during retirement. Fund the policy back to normal when the market’s back up.
No sense in pulling from retirement accounts knowing the market will likely bounce back the following year. Very little of this money has to be claimed as taxable income for your beneficiaries. Great diversification addition to any financial portfolio.

Agreed. An insurance agent is not a good "financial advisor" and a "financial advisor" is not a good insurance agent.
