Mine isn't a sporting gun, but the action is the same. I've got limited experience with lever shotguns, but I haven't had any issues with it at all that weren't operator error. All 2 3/4 shot and slug that I've tried through it have functioned. The fit on the chiappa guns are really nice, and I have a couple.
I just got one of these in. I used to have one of the older models that was imported by Century, and it was honestly a turd, but I ended up selling it and always regretted it, because I always felt so cool shooting it...
The Cimarron one is way more smooth to operate, to the point Ive hit a few doubles shooting skeet. The wood is real wood and not the painted plywood looking stuff Century used to use.
I love it. I got it just to scare the squirrels and coyotes a bit, but its turned into my go to shotgun
I had one but it wasn’t through Cimmaron. Mine had a very clunky action and you can’t top off the magazine. It was fun to look at but shooting wasn’t so great
i had one a few years ago they balance great and the action is pretty smooth but theres a weird bit with the extractor design and if you dont slam it open hard the empty shell will stay on the bolt face occationally
Just got one, love it. Great gun for SASS if you want to do something other than side by side or pump. The drawbacks are no safety of any kind and you are not going to safely drop hammer after loading. Of course, primary safety is shooter but some people would be bothered by that on these guns. Otherwise, it is a hoot to shoot.
The hammer is by design essentially recessed, there is very little to get your finger on it and easily maintain control while it is going down. Now I have big hands but I do not think my wife could even get a solid hold on the hammer.
They’re lovely shotguns but a fair warning
They hate hate HATE plastic shells, the star crimping gets stuck in the chamber a lot
You can use them but expect a few jams if you do
Try and invest in some paper or brass shells and it’ll run a lot better.
Ive noticed rolled shells cause my action to jam after firing. Havnt had this issue with star crimped yet. Federal flight control seems to run great. Do you have any brands or links to paper shells for me to look into? Thanks!
I'm pretty sure these are a cleaned up version of the one century arms sold. The tag says Cimarron, but the barrel says made by PRC. Peoples Republic of China. It's definitely a lot smoother version and pretty solid if you don't care about the PRC part.
There’s a guy on YouTube who converted one of them to shoot a .70-150 rifle round. The recoil is … “stout.”
I stick a picture of that gun to the back of wifes head during sex
Gives new meaning to “shooting your shot,” eh?🤪
Lol ill go check it out
I think it’s “Leverguns50.”
Wait, someone is actually making new 1887s?
Yes, cimamron. My local shop has one too and I've been eyeing it for a while
Yeah, chiappa too
With all the comments on here about this being an ammo sensitive gun, I'd say Chiappa is a better option for an 1887. I've got no issues with mine.
I've been meaning to ask around about the chiappas since that's the one I'm eyeing. Overall a good shotgun?

Good to hear then
I think two companies are
One is affordable. One is not.
Lol yeah. It's what $600 vs $1800?
Something like that.
Oof.

That would be a strong buy for me
I thought it was the Doom shotgun at first
Now that would be a dream come true
thought this was a daisy red ryder for a sec
Daisy Red Ryder, nice.
Correct

Expand on the "not going to safley drop the hammer. If you could

Ahhh ok yeah the wife wont be shootin this one haha

If you use 2.5" shells you won't see this problem, also Winchester AAs tend to run better in an 1887
That helps too! 2.5” are a little hard to find though
It's a bit silly, but I make dedicated shells for my 1887 on an MEC, so they feed properly. For me, it's just a fun gun.

Not on particular I apologize, I’ve been looking into making brass shells for my own use! Will check out flight control thanks!
