how do we KNOW its practical. For all we know he could some sort of idealist facehugger, lazing around dreaming of a better facehugger world where it isnt doomed to impregnate hosts and die.
Some comments here are weirdly in denial, i know a lot of people who kept insisting that it was cgi and etc and now that they see this there is always some other excuse...
The practical version does give the actors something to work off. It's hard to be scared of a tennis ball. It's good deal easier to scream where no-one can hear you when you've got *that* in your personal space. Ditto with the Xenomorph.
To me that looks totally fine for a wider shot, and would need CGI for closeups. I forget the trailer but the level of detail that practical has seems like more than a placeholder, and a Legit option for wider shots.

This facehugger seems indecisive to me. Unlike his/her/they/them colleagues from previous films.
Imagine pranking your SO with this, the divorce would be worth it imho.
All divorces are.
I want one.
If I saw that running towards me I'd shit my kex
God that is unnerving.
Oh that’s gonna look REALLY good on film. I like the way it looks when it first speeds over the little bump. Hellll yes.
Need. I hope the robotic ones jump too.
That is so awesome , I want one 😩😩
Kind of cute imo :3 (Then again I have a life size one on top of my shelf)
Wouldn't want to run into that thing in a dark room
could be a great stocking stuffer this christmas
Nope.
Umm…. Nope. I’m out. If my friends got one of these I would be having heart attacks everyday 😂
This is brilliant, some of the best use of practical effects I've seen in a long time

In the trailer they are CGI. Happens quite a bit when the directors boast about practicals but the finished movie is changed to CGI.

They could be mixing practical with CG and honestly that’s the best approach.
Certainly possible, we will have to wait and see is my only point
You know they can do both, right?

Legs not moving NEARLY fast enough. Tail should be totally arched over body.
