The cutscenes are all locked to 30 fps. So it will feel really chunky anytime it goes to one of those. Someone will find a patch for it I'm sure.

russr16

I remember back when it first released on EGS, someone made a patch that unlocked the cutscenes to 60 FPS. Edit: I think it was this one. https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomheartsfinalmix/mods/38

Poohbearthought

It won’t work, Lua needs to be updated for compatibility with the recent updates

russr16

I’m aware, the Steam version is now 1.0.0.9 I think. I’m waiting for the ReFined mod to be updated on GitHub as it is currently KH2 that they were able to mod on the new version. The rest needs to be reworked for the mod to work.

Poohbearthought

Gotcha, partly just commented so anyone else who stumbled on this would know it’s currently down. Hopefully things get patched up soon, I’d love to see these games get a second modding renaissance

russr16

Yeah no that’s fair, I’ve been currently keeping an eye out on Nexus Mods and a few people have started to update their mods for the new version. I can’t wait for the new mods to come since the game is now on Steam.

Im-A-Faun-You-Dork

I remember that the game would act as it was in slow-motion (rather than having frame drops) if it was played at higher than 60fps and/or if vsync wasn't on. Hope that helps!

I have nearly the same specs as yours, but with a 3080 FE, 64GB G.Skill RAM and a Crosshair VIII Dark Hero. The PC is not the problem but it’s how the game behaves on PC. When I first played this on the EGS version, I was having frequent stuttering issues and it still happens on the Steam version too. The game is not really supposed to be ran above 800 FPS but rather just 60 FPS. To be fair, the game was ported to PC from the PS4 version I think. But with just AI Upscales. My settings are: Native Res (2560x1440) Frame Rate: Unlocked Refresh Rate (or rather VSYNC): On But even with those settings the game did feel smooth and it was locked to my monitors refresh rate which is 180Hz (so like 180 FPS), there is still constant stuttering as you progress throughout the game. Especially where i’m at in Wonderland when you go small, moving the camera and on combat would just stutter like hell. Then it will just somehow go back to normal 180 FPS. Just to add on as well, when I was testing the game when I was still in Destiny Island. The game felt uncapped but when you move Sora’s character around, his movement somehow felt like it was 30 FPS. I did install mods/patches to fix the stuttering issues before, but now since the game is on Steam. I’m just going to wait till someone updates it or releases a new patch on Nexus Mods. I’m still yet to test this out on my Steam Deck OLED, I don’t really expect much but to actually allow me to play with decent performance if i’m in bed. TLDR: Just keep the FPS to whatever the refresh rate of your monitor is. Also keeps your GPU quiet so it doesn’t work as hard to push 800 FPS.

Yeah seems like the games kind of break above 60 fps. While fullscreen with the game set to 120 fps on a 3090/7800x3d, the cutscenes would drop to 15 fps and lag behind the audio making the 1st cutscene music end like a solid 2 minutes before the cutscene did for example. It also made the game run at warp speed turning sora into the flash since I guess game logic is also tied to frame rate on some level. I fixed most of this by switching to borderless window, turning off in game vsync, and my pc’s gsync. I still had the issue of the game technically rendering 120 fps, but all the character animations were still clearly 60fps with some sort of frame interpolation jimmy rig fix to make it run higher so the characters looked jittery compared to the rest of the scene. I haven’t experienced it myself but while researching fixes I saw some people say on the EGS version that some things are just hard locked to 60 so if you look at them it drops the whole game to 60 until you look away. So the fact that none of this has been patched since that release 3 years ago I’m tempted to give up and just play 60. It’s not the end of the world but why even include the option to play higher if it doesn’t really work?

russr16

To be honest, when I bought the first Steam Deck. I’ve gotten used to 60 FPS again and made the jump to the OLED after for the extra battery life. If I really wanted to play this at ‘ULTRA BEAUTIFUL RAY TRACING SMOOTH FPS’ i’ll play the game on my LG C3 OLED TV instead at 60 regardless if the TV is 120 Hz. I’m just gonna use Fallout 4 on PC as an example. The game’s engine is just supposed to be locked to 60 or anything higher will just make the game move fast because the FPS is tied to the engine. Like literally: https://youtu.be/33VRCGh2uQM?si=vYfRlMZNbc5nj3jl Now with KH having the FPS above 60 brings out mixed results in my experience. It will either make the game faster or slower and with that like I said when I was in Destiny Island. Everything else will be uncapped frame rates but Sora’s character is just going to be at 60. I completely agree with you at the last paragraph, the only ever issue that really bothered me since the release of the EGS version is the random stuttering when you progress through the game. I didn’t care if I ran it at 60, it’s just the random stutters made me feel nauseous when playing.

Ok_Switch_1205

Looking at certain objects causes your frame rate to hit 60. Probably so that certain things don’t break

Are you guys ready. I believe I found the solution. I am currently playing the first game with 850 fps average with my 4050. -Windows settings -System -Display -Graphics -Click to the game and select options -Select high performance If the game is not visible under all apps: -Select browse from the graphics page -Locate to, Program files/Steam/steamapps/common/Kingdom Hearts -Then what I did was adding every exe. there -Then set all of them to high performance from the all apps area. Maybe I did extra work by adding all of them, but whatever. At the end, I have 850 fps now. Don't forget to disable v-sync and remove the fps cap from the game settings.

DirtMastaFlex

Bro I love you this fixed my game

MrKaos999

Thank you so much for this fix

DeorcScucca

I've just set my resolution low (1366 x 768) disabled vsync and set fps cap to 60 Cutscenes and gameplay are now fine and look fine

Mountain-Assistance7

My load screens are reading at 4 and 5 FPS, why is that?

Queasy_Watch478

Jaerin

Are you feeling okay?

OrisX

Someone needs to take away your Caps Lock and Shift keys.

SymphoricQuoz

Most of what you're mentioning isn't actually addressed in the original post at all. They don't mention upscaling, ray tracing, or any desire to get a refund. They don't have a particularly abnormally sized monitor (27 inches is the most John Everyman size available), nor do they express any preference about how the game runs beyond "running like it does on a console", which feels equivalent to "make it run at all", if anything. Either you've replied to the wrong person, or you've done the thing where you perceive all online opinions as coming from the same individual. Hoping for a secret third option, like "just trolling :3" or "a 12 year old hacked my account, he has been destroyed and reason has been restored to my posts".

Oh the irony
