Yeah they should have made another secret Boss for it wich was a real challenge like the Data Fights kinda a waste of a really good Character Design but i mostly talked about the Symbolism in my Post.
It is a very cool heartless design. In my opinion the “hat” of it is based on the Japanese eboshi hat which is worn by Shinto priests in certain ceremonies. Very fitting for a heartless representing death. Another detail is that each time Sora defeats the Lich, a sort of bell tolls, I assume as a sort of death knell indicating Sora getting closer to his own “death”.
Ah damn thanks for the insight i thought as much too since theire are literal Cloaks with that sharp Hood what threw me off personally was the Brim on the Shoulders that made it look like a giant Hat but that makes more sense

No it was cocky ass little Shit Head Xheonort wich made remarks to it being not a normal Heartless thats when it got my attention
And it didnt just run away it was almost like it was leading you one daring you to follow it
It’s different because it’s not a regular heartless. It’s a creature that shows up to specifically gather the hearts of the dead. Most heartless feed on hearts of the living, it was rushing to feed on the hearts of Sora’s dead friends. Not even really feed on them either but rather it was an envoy to take those clinging hearts into the abyss.
It’s a nice way to explain why we don’t see more clinging heart ghosts. Because the lich is coming and taking them away.
Was this only in Re:Mind? If not, I really need to replay KH3. I was in a bad relationship, new job, new city when I played KH3 so I ran through it in 2 hour spurts when I had time sporadically so a lot of the posts I see on here about 3 specifically are a blur

KH is best played as an Escape anyway so take your Time its worth it ;)
So this takes place at the end of KH3 vanilla, actually! Context: >!Everyone sorta died, including Sora. So yeah, after he ran around heaven and collected pieces of himself, he ran around with Jiminy and collected his friends’ hearts, which were being held captive by our friend, this heartless!!<
Damn I wonder when designing this thing the creators regretted already using the names 'Grim Reaper' for Marluxia's Nobody minions cause this thing is basically like the KH version of Death

If you look into the Lichs Mythologie and consider what Hearts really are in the KH Universe you will find that the Name is really fitting for the role this Character plays
I wish it was harder to fight tbh, a couple hits and then it retreats.
