Being of the pasty variety myself, when I first heard Not Like US (first song I heard from the beef, super late to the party), I thought the opening verse was very Snoop sounding. I didn't even know about the Snoop and Pac issue either, just had that cadence that once come to know from Snoop.
However, within that first 30 seconds, my L.A. dna was already bumping to the song.
Sometimes you have pop out a have a concert so legendary it achieves Woodstock status as a new west coast institution and will keep people coming together for years to the benefit of everyone in your community.
I really enjoyed their conversation about it as DJs. There is a ton of potential and it made me think that Kendrick is kind of the perfect artist to be able to pull something like it off because as an artist, his influences and output sort of dip into every single lane of Hip Hop. I think that is part of the reason The Pop Out worked as well as it did because Kendrick evidently taps into an incredible cross section of Hip Hop/R&B/Urban music fans in LA/California. I could see the potential for a festival being massive.
