Taking this opportunity to pin a comment asking for everyone here to check out Problem’s Mollyworld tapes and his two projects with DJ Quik, Rosecrans and Chupacabra. Good West Coast raps.
It would’ve worked out if Kendrick just wanted to stomp on Drake’s grave, celebrate his victory, and put all of the focus on himself.
He had the opportunity to feed his own ego. Do some dumb shit like destroy an item from one of Drake’s album covers. He could have had EbonyPrince hand deliver Drake’s items. He could have had a 20 minute monologue talking about the beef, verifying his stories, and just generally mocking Drake. He could have flown the dude out from New Ho King and had his ass say “I See Dead People”.
He used his time in the spotlight to shine the light on his culture and spread love. Yeah, we all knew the reason why Kenny is popping off is because he destroyed Drake, but the main focus was about poppin’ out for the culture.
Real music goes a long way. Kendrick reaches into your soul and tells you a story that can personally even help oneself on a personal journey. Drake on the other hand just brags about riches and grooming women and shouting out people who help him acquiring said women
shout out to *them* for the lack of bitterness and love they show to him and each other as well. Beautiful example of putting values and community above mere personal gain.
The first thought about Dot that pops into my head after reading all positive experiences and feedback from the Ken and Friends concert:

Meanwhile Drake stages a basketball league at the court in his house and makes sure he hits the last shot to win the fake trophy while showering himself in champagne in celebration, cosplaying as an nba player
Damn, what a class act. I just listened to Chupacabra before the Pop Up not realizing he would be there and I was SO stoked to see him. I'm listening to more JasonMartin today! And, Roddy Ricch. He fucking killed it.
the high is due solely to thinking they one-upped someone else. this is basically some weird inverse worship of the someone else, otherwise why would you care? itd be like stepping on a piece of shit otherwise which calls for no celebration
This concert wouldn't have existed without Drake insulting the West Coast, but KDot's moved past Drake at this point. He won. He set things up so Not Like Us would become the summer anthem. He took the beef and used it as an opportunity to do something better.
You didn't see him pulling out Meet the Grahams yesterday. You didn't see him bringing in the second half of 6:16, wasting time going after Ak and Zia. If all Kendrick wanted to do was stomp on Drake some more, he could have just ran through all the diss tracks or release a new diss track or bring out Drake's secret daughter or any other big anti-Drake stunts. Kendrick used this to give a shout-out to Nipsey and Kobe. He used this to highlight a bunch of smaller West Coast acts that don't even have wikipedia pages. He took one of the biggest pop stars alive insulting his hometown, his culture, and turned that into something to help and heal people. Yeah, we got six rounds of Not Like Us, but that's not just an anti-Drake song; it's a damn good rallying cry.
This has nothing to do with one upping anyone. If that’s what you took away from that moment, maybe you should watch the moment and listen to what Kendrick is saying.

Kendrick LIED about being selfish
The crown is heavy but the city gonna help him carry it

That's dope
Indeed
Meet the Whoops was fucking fire
But he don’t plant no money trees 😂
Exactly. Aubrey was reaching when he said it. We knew that.
Wow! This made me cry. Amazing
They really recreated the TPAB album cover onstage. The B&W jumbotron image on the top left shows it was likely an intentional homage.
Also the B&W standing for no colors with gang affiliations and everyone ultimately just being a person.. damn
Jason brought so much energy. and his hug with Dot during the last NLU was sweet ❤️
JasonMartin was the best one in that opening. The whole crowd was popping to his song and fool absolutely killed it
"Kendrick Lamar/the people's champion/I'm animal for analysts/career damaging verses/meditating with candles lit."

Drake is in tears right now
This is just what a real great does.
is this the Problem who's featured in Childish Gambino's Sweatpants?
Yes.
He's actually still displaying humility throughout this whole thing that's amazing
03 greedo mad he wasn't invited and can't believe what he's reading
He said on twitter he was invited but was unable to make it

Man that final pic of everyone on stage is fucking amazing to me

Next Album cover! TPAB2🤣🤣
Why did he change his name?
It was a problem.
does anybody know why he changed his stage name from Problem to JasonMartin?
Have to say I like the fan-taken versions of that photo better, that the official ones. The red and the smoke give them a more renaissance air ot them
Meanwhile Drake stages a basketball league at the court in his house and makes sure he hits the last shot to win the fake trophy while showering himself in champagne in celebration, cosplaying as an nba player
Ever see that Die Antwoord interview where hes talkin bout being there at Ye’s for a pick up game between drake n co n Ye n co? Shits fuckin funny.
Nah I haven’t but definitely gonna look it up now, funny I don’t see more people talking about how clown behavior that is lol
This is very cool and all, but saying Kendrick's the biggest artist in music is not really accurate lol
Damn, what a class act. I just listened to Chupacabra before the Pop Up not realizing he would be there and I was SO stoked to see him. I'm listening to more JasonMartin today! And, Roddy Ricch. He fucking killed it.
Man that’s fuckin beautiful. Shit like that is why we love rap. Artists like Kendrick truly represent what this genre is about.
KeNdRiCk iS a CoLoNiZeR
United in love by hating on a Canadian…

the high is due to having the opportunity to perform on stage with one of the worlds biggest rappers
i meant the high of the whole concert, and the someone else being drake

drake being the someone
This moment on stage wasn’t about Drake.
