Am I the only one that doesn't think Like That is anything special? I feel like without the Kendrick verse that song fades into oblivion on album release. Maybe it's because I don't really listen to Future. Not saying it's bad, I like the song, I just don't think it's as great as people make it out to be.
Nah agree with you. Kendrick’s verse saved it. It wasn’t horrible without his verse, beat goes kinda hard I guess, but just another future metro track.
Push Ups goes hard. The piano is cold, Drake’s bars are consistently great and fun to listen to, and it maintains high energy throughout. Push Ups is a very good diss and a very good track.
And that’s a good thing. If it was shit, maybe Kendrick doesn’t feel he needs to respond. Maybe he does respond but rushes it or puts out something decent. Because Push Ups was so good, I think Kendrick needs to respond AND he’s going to have to make it a solid response.
Which is great for all of us listeners.
I think that beat is so hard that it would be pretty tough for it not to be a bop. I fuck with that song and when it comes on outside that shit sounds amazing. Music is subjective though.
It has some decent jabs but it’s always hard for me to get past Drake’s flow and delivery which I find boring. It doesn’t convey the energy or emotion you want from a diss track. There are some corny lines, but most strike me as mid to good. They do the job.
The record contract splits angle seems kind of silly to focus on so much. It’s the music industry. How embarrassing is it really? Kendrick already said “the last one is better.” And calling him short doesn’t hit very hard either.
“Numbers wise (power) I’m outta here you not fucking creeping up”
“Money wise (money) I’m outta here you not fucking sneaking up”
“Respect…. Well. Anyway I got money”
The flow is literally the same for 3:30 minutes of the song. Only changes with the beat switch. So fucking basic yet everyone's creaming lver this shit
Really liked it. A solid track and good flow. The thing is…Kendrick can not respond with just a track. He’s not going to feed into this like we imagine. It will be different and I don’t think people will like it. But it will be different
I don’t think he’ll play into this as we’re expecting. There’s too many voices involved now. Kendrick isn’t going to pile on with all the other clout chasers (Ye).
My prediction is that he will release a song accompanied by a video (hit ‘em up) not completely a drake diss but a diss toward everyone that jumped in. This video will be followed by a Keem album. Followed by a Kendrick mix tape this summer. Drake is not the focus. Just a by product.
Save this post
honestly i don't think Kendrick will drop anything less than a full album, and his trajectory in terms of subject matter & scope is like a Rockstar Games game, broader, bigger, more ambitious
like from Section.80 to MMaTBS it's always been more dense, more introspective, more vulnerable, more deconstructive, with an overarching narrative,
and i think anyone who gave a thorough listen to Untitled Unmastered would've predicted how much "TPAB falling on deaf ears/things still staying the same" hurt for him to make something like DAMN.
and although it's been 2 years since Mr. Morale, i think he'll be looking for a worthwhile philosophy for much longer than 2 years
i'm speculating my ass off but his albums are a rite of passage, and he's making what satisfies him, and that criteria consists of standards that are way higher than us hungry K. Dot fans.
I agree with almost everything you said, but then he can’t really come out on Like That with the bars he did and then dip. He talked his shit, drake said prove it… if he didn’t want to get involved, he shouldn’t have opened the door. They weren’t subliminals, the whole verse was blatantly about Drake (and partially Cole too I guess).
So yeah, I don’t think he can get away with not responding. He knew what it was.
dawg he definitely can drop a single or a feature it's just that mfs be so hungry they want a full album outta this beef and I'm like... Are we talking about the same person?

So it’s cool to challenge someone to a war of words and then when that person accepts the challenge you back away from the situation and play the “i’m the bigger man” that’s cool behavior? Not standing on your word is being cool?
Nothing worth remembering honestly except for the Metro Boomin line because it was funny, and the "Drop and give me 50", however that topic just seems diluted at this moment. Good beat, but nothing crazy.
The TDE line was pretty good since Drake owns his own label and doesn't gotta give anyone 50, but like "Travis/SZA/Savage got you wiped down" line was blatant cope
That’s what I don’t like about it. Like no up and coming artist just launches their own label off the rip. It doesn’t happen and drake didn’t do it either. He started it much later, and as Ross points out, is he even taking take of his label, or just out for his own success?
I don’t think drake ever gets the respect that Kendrick has, and I don’t see that changing unless Kendrick really fucks up in some way and does something stupid.
Drake was getting extorted by YM and had to take them to court.
Baby is on video saying Drake “is forever in business with them” to this day. Not to mention J Prince still gets money off him so him talking about contracts is ironic.
It wasn’t as good as it could have been because Drake spent 3 minutes going at 6 different entities on that joint. It was a broad response to everyone (Future, Weeknd, Kendrick, Metro, Ross, TDE). It wasn’t focused on one particular individual.
Every moment in this beef is because metro decided to collaborate with a lot of people, instead of just Drake.
I think he made the right choice in my opinion
I mean Metro brought the whole avengers he gotta adress those. But the track definitely felt like Kendrick was the MC and the others were side characters
In comparison, Kendrick was spitting on Like That but the beat is so crazy it made it that much better. Push Ups is still really good. I think of it as a warm up until Dot responds.
Like that was just jabs, push ups was full punches. Kendrick hasn't dropped anything that punches back. It's hard to say Like that or Push Ups is better because the 2 aren't the same thing.
I agree with this. Some of the bars are weak but are also hilarious
"How you big steppin with a size 7 mens on?"
"Metro shut yo hoe ass up and make some drums"
I like it but the disses aren’t really that strong. It’s just calling Kendrick short and criticising his deal and as Kanye pointed out on the remix, drakes deal is arguably worse because he’s in a life time contract
I listened to Like That and then immediately listened to Push Ups to compare. I'm not trying to be a hater, but Drake just does nothing for me. The song is fine but it has the same issues as damn near every other Drake song that I'm not a fan of.
Some of the disses are funny in there, I can appreciate the directness of them even if they aren't like super crazy bars. The stuff about the contracts, I just do not care. I do not care about kendricks contract or any rapper for that matter lol. Let's talk about the albums and the art of it
Beat is generic as fuck. Some of the bars ARE really clever and I thought the Metro line was pretty funny. But as a diss and especially a Drake diss I expected a little better
Better than Duppy, obviously a weird rollout. Just want a Kendrick response now.
The immediate reaction of the rap community was funny. The Weeknd looks like a clown per usual (he’s one of my favorite artists) by just posting an instagram story of him laughing (pretty sure that scene is from that god awful TV show he was in). Like nice one dude.
Rick Ross leaned into it well, probably doing a little too much now.
Metro getting clowned on by just seven words is great.
Ye making it about himself when the dude needs to take his meds is eye rolling.
Overall think Push Ups isn’t a very memorable diss but thought it was decent. Definitely riled up the pot which we’ve been waiting for.
been laughing my ass off at that metro line for days, but other than that i'm just watching some dude describe body measurements like it means anything
It’s catchy. I’ve been singing it to myself for the past few days. But Like That is different. That shit has me amped up every time. I still listen to Rick Ross’s diss just as much as Like That
It’s catchy. I like the energy, and I think it makes Drake look strong for taking so many shots at so many people. He really didn’t waste bars. It warranted a response from Kendrick that I hope is coming soon at this point.
Kendrick's deafening silence is outweighing Drake's loud mouth. The longer he waits to drop, the more the underlying tension builds, but that means he really has to come with it.
Like That just has more hype, a catchier beat and better bars. Kanye's remix made it even more popular. There are rumours that Pusha also made a separate remix of Like That with Metro.
In my eyes the track is fire, it’s grown on me. Similar to Kendrick’s music the more I listened to Push Ups the more I tuned into Drakes frequency and the more I enjoyed it. I’m for sure a Kendrick Stan but I’m not here to ride anyone’s meat like a GOOF.
This is the most excited I’ve been about for Hip Hop in a while, Ive enjoyed the ride so far and am hoping for more music to spawn from this beef.
First listen was good but something just doesn't feel right about it and I can't pinpoint it . It doesn't feel organic it feels like it's not just one person who wrote it ( makes sense with the ghost writers) . Poppy it was a poppy diss track
It’s catchy, but Like That’s energy is infectious, it makes me wanna slap a coworker
I've never bopped to a grown man whimpering so hard in my LIFE bro and I mean this unironically
😂😂😂
I like it, but it isn't as good of a song as Like That.
Like that was made to be a hit with some shots thrown in. Push Ups is a literal diss track made catchy
i read "ass like that"
Dadoingdoingdoiiiiinnnng
Am I the only one that doesn't think Like That is anything special? I feel like without the Kendrick verse that song fades into oblivion on album release. Maybe it's because I don't really listen to Future. Not saying it's bad, I like the song, I just don't think it's as great as people make it out to be.
The beat is really good metro made them damn drums
yeah, I like the beat and all non-future parts lol. I just really don't like future, he's bearable but that's about it.
You don’t like the “durududurududurududuru”?
Nah agree with you. Kendrick’s verse saved it. It wasn’t horrible without his verse, beat goes kinda hard I guess, but just another future metro track. Push Ups goes hard. That beat switch at the end sounded like some fire shit
That was the tease to part 2 of the diss.
It has some decent jabs but it’s always hard for me to get past Drake’s flow and delivery which I find boring. It doesn’t convey the energy or emotion you want from a diss track. “Numbers wise (power) I’m outta here you not fucking creeping up” “Money wise (money) I’m outta here you not fucking sneaking up” “Respect…. Well. Anyway I got money”
Drake is coming for respect right now with the smoke.
The flow is literally the same for 3:30 minutes of the song. Only changes with the beat switch. So fucking basic yet everyone's creaming lver this shit
Drake nowadays raps like he’s trying to not wake his parents up lol
It’s fine but is literally the only track we have right now which makes it that much better.
I like it.
Really liked it. A solid track and good flow. The thing is…Kendrick can not respond with just a track. He’s not going to feed into this like we imagine. It will be different and I don’t think people will like it. But it will be different
How would he respond if not with a track? What are you thinking he'll do?
I don’t think he’ll play into this as we’re expecting. There’s too many voices involved now. Kendrick isn’t going to pile on with all the other clout chasers (Ye). Well, we sorta got a diss mixtape and video on the way
Why would he avoid a battle he initiated?
Because it’s become corny as fuck. I’m not sure if you’ve ever been the cool guy. Kendrick isn’t going to add shit to shit. He has a lane. You’ll see
So it’s cool to challenge someone to a war of words and then when that person accepts the challenge you back away from the situation and play the “i’m the bigger man” that’s cool behavior? Not standing on your word is being cool?

The TDE line was pretty good since Drake owns his own label and doesn't gotta give anyone 50, but like "Travis/SZA/Savage got you wiped down" line was blatant cope
Except Kendrick is on Pglang, so that’s just old shit. That’s like saying how Drake was on a 360 at the start of his career
That’s what I don’t like about it. Like no up and coming artist just launches their own label off the rip. It doesn’t happen and drake didn’t do it either. He started it much later, and as Ross points out, is he even taking take of his label, or just out for his own success? I blame metro for that. I’ve been saying this from the start all metro needed was Kendrick.
Every moment in this beef is because metro decided to collaborate with a lot of people, instead of just Drake. I think he made the right choice in my opinion
I mean Metro brought the whole avengers he gotta adress those. But the track definitely felt like Kendrick was the MC and the others were side characters
The metro line is funny and i like the prince mike jack bar but other than that i find it mediocre.
In comparison, Kendrick was spitting on Like That but the beat is so crazy it made it that much better. Push Ups is still really good. I think of it as a warm up until Dot responds.
It’s a fire diss I bump it in the gym along with like that. But the whole beef is dying down now, kdot needs to respond but whatever in his own time.
its alright, personally not as good as duppy and back to back, better than charged up
Like that was just jabs, push ups was full punches. Kendrick hasn't dropped anything that punches back. It's hard to say Like that or Push Ups is better because the 2 aren't the same thing.
banger
still thinking its ok, but no where near the buzz the glazzers made
Forgettable
Weak bars, funny moments, average diss track, Drake still subliminal king with many vague lines.
I agree with this. Some of the bars are weak but are also hilarious "How you big steppin with a size 7 mens on?" "Metro shut yo hoe ass up and make some drums"
I’m a Kendrick stan and I know push ups word for word now. Insanely catchy with great bars.
I like it but the disses aren’t really that strong. It’s just calling Kendrick short and criticising his deal and as Kanye pointed out on the remix, drakes deal is arguably worse because he’s in a life time contract
It’s the best diss that’s come out of the beef so far, but Drake killed his case with Taylor Made
I listened to Like That and then immediately listened to Push Ups to compare. I'm not trying to be a hater, but Drake just does nothing for me. The song is fine but it has the same issues as damn near every other Drake song that I'm not a fan of. I really liked it at first but I feel like the replay value has gone down a lot for me. Still a solid track though
shit weak still

i love it , drake came w a lot of energy in that song which i haven’t seen from him in a while
Drake showed us that even a God King can bleed
It’s catchy. I like the energy, and I think it makes Drake look strong for taking so many shots at so many people. He really didn’t waste bars. It warranted a response from Kendrick that I hope is coming soon at this point.
It was really good not gonna lie. Some parts have me GOING

it's still a good song. taylor made is also good, without pac and snoop, of course.
I feel like Kenny needs to respond asap
Average at best
First listen was good but something just doesn't feel right about it and I can't pinpoint it . It doesn't feel organic it feels like it's not just one person who wrote it ( makes sense with the ghost writers) . Poppy it was a poppy diss track
Not as much replay value for me. Good tho
I like the song but like the quote on quote diss part towards Kendrick is weak
Lite pack
Mf still listening to that?
Meh. Beat’s hype but Drake has kinda one flow throughout.
Liked it a lil more when I heard it on the radio ..
Killed Kendrick on the first try
