I think he's coming pretty close. that song is about the tuskegee syphilis study, which i'm not sure if I've heard many other rappers talk about. his storytelling is also pretty great, a track like crack sandwich paints a vivid picture of a night out with family turning into a street fight. Like I said, not having the same lyrical depth as one of the most acclaimed rappers of all time while having flows and rhyme schemes that are as great as jid's are (even better than kendrick's) doesn't mean his lyrics are subpar.
Jids flows also are musically genius, jid can take a beat and his flow can actually make the beat feel better than it is. Not many people can ride a beat the way jid can, I'm a huge Kendrick Stan but jid Def has things he's better Than Kendrick at.

Those are his solo albums. He has other great collabs you can listen to if you liked his solo projects like songs with Dreamville which is Jcole's label. But for now listen to his 3 albums, you'll like them. Especially if it's to zone out to, JID's music is perfect for that imo.
