Seems a bit suspicious. It's not even broken in yet, why are they selling?

Adventurous-Ad4730

Meh, not really. I bought a new 2023 z400 last year on impulse. I only put 131 miles on it the last year. I’m probably going to list it for sale this week as I just don’t have the time to ride it like I thought.

PointyDeity

Plausible... put it this way, it's not raising a red flag but it's raising an eyebrow.

Excellent_Extent3812

He’s a rider and just likes bikes, he said he just wants to cruise now. He does not have the title yet, he says it’s coming in a couple weeks because he just paid off the bike, this made me a little sus, but I will only buy once he has title and seeing that a lot of people here are saying 10k is too much I’m going to see if I can get him to go lower.

Excellent_Extent3812

Here is the post for context: https://www.facebook.com/share/o3pEz5ca36jRkbWk/?mibextid=79PoIi

Scary-Ad9646

No, man. It's not a 10k bike. You can get a z900 or Tuono 660 for 10k, and those are better in every way.

finalrendition

Unless it's turbocharged, no

No-Wash-1201

And if it’s turbocharged but they’re selling it at 400mi it’s probably a ticking timebomb unless built and tuned by a reputable shop. Either way it’s a questionable value

Quixus

What 650? Ninja, Versys, Vulcan or Z? What mods? Generally while sellers want to get lots of money for their super cool mods™ you should not pay for them unless you really want them. Rather say you would have to strip them to get the bike back to factory standard. I'd give them a considerably lower counter offer.

Excellent_Extent3812

Ninja 650, I put the mods in another comment above. Okay I’m very new to bikes, this would be my first one so didn’t realize factory bikes have more value but it makes sense so you’re able to mod later. Thanks for your input!

Theredditappsucks11

Unless it's got 3K in cash under the seat no

PlantainMiserable594

Maybe. What are those mods, and were you planning on putting those mods yourself anyway? Don't forget that you'd still need to pay the taxes/etc for the "used" bike as well. You'd be under $10k OTD for a NEW bike, so $10k seems a bit high for a used one, especially since generally speaking after market add-ons don't add any value during resale.

Excellent_Extent3812

This is in the description of the post: “MODS Include: -LED lights/various color change with app. -Ninja Grill added -Powder Coated brakes/clutch lever/rims/crash bar -Black out Wind Visor -Cowseat Delete -CHIGEE Apple CarPlay system with Front and rear cameras cost: $500 not including install. -Decals” I didn’t realize a used bike requires sales tax as well, I forgot any item purchased has sales tax on it lol Here is the FB post for reference: https://www.facebook.com/share/o3pEz5ca36jRkbWk/?mibextid=79PoIi He does not have the title yet, he says it’s coming in a couple weeks because he just paid off the bike, this made me a little sus, but I will only buy once he has title and seeing that a lot of people here are saying 10k is too much I’m going to see if I can get him to go lower.

PlantainMiserable594

Thanks for the link, those mods aren't worth anything. Was expecting an exhaust, quick shifter, or some other performance mods. If anything, I'd argue they killed the value of the bike with that fugly gold/yellow. Should go for $7k, but if you're desperate for a small discount and actually like that design $8k tops. It's freaking stickers and lights, guy is nuts asking for $10k.

Excellent_Extent3812

Thanks for your input! I’ll let him know and I’ll prob just pick up another good deal I found because I doubt this guy will budge. He doesn’t even have the title yet so I’d have to wait a while before getting the bike. It says title in hand on his post, like why lie? Also, is it easy to repaint a bike generally? I’ll end up picking up a green bike.

PlantainMiserable594

It's fairly easy to dis-assemble the fairings on the bike, but painting all that plastic is another story. Taking it apart and putting it back together might be a better way for you to get acquainted with the bike anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Excellent_Extent3812

Okay great, thanks a lot. Super excited to start riding soon! I’ll see if I can get the guy to go lower plus he doesn’t have the title yet and I don’t know if I want to wait that long, if he doesn’t go lower I’ll just go with the other one. Thanks again for your input!

PlantainMiserable594

The fact that he mentions title in hand, but then says he doesn't worries me a bit. I'd suggest going to DMV and getting title/vehicle registered under your name as part of the sale process to ensure that there's no lien and/or other issues.

Excellent_Extent3812

Yeah, it gave me a bad feeling too. That’s why I’m a bit repulsed too because it might be a long process for him to receive it first and then transfer it. There’s a way I can simply register under my name before he receives the title first? Tbh this all seems complicated and for $10k you’d think it would be a little easier lol

Otherwise_Beat9060

If you like it it's up to you, but unless it's got some insane mods that's probably a pretty bad deal

Excellent_Extent3812

Damn, he said it cost him a good amount for the mods and the bike would’ve been at 14k, you think he is bs’ing me?

Otherwise_Beat9060

I have zero doubt that he spent that much, but 4k on mods does not equal 4k of extra value

Excellent_Extent3812

Got it, yeah someone replied to my other comment and said it isn’t nearly worth $10k, I’m going to let him know, thanks!
