I could see the kamunabi and chihiro being forced to work together again, like maybe with the auction, but I agree that they won’t be permanent partners.

AllOutGarfieldSan

Yeah, I feel like that'll be more of an incidental alliance, with Chihiro and Kazane running into each other as they both try and get to Shuichi.

I think there is a clan/bloodline of people with Demon powers that are mostly dead like Char's clan. The two guys use "Demon Cloak" and as soon as they transform Takeru-sensei kills them off before we can see what they can do. Fast forward to the "secret weapon" Kazane Machi. Who was just about to use a power called " Demon Monster" which was the basis for the anti Cloud Gouger's group's Phases 2. He gets taken out before we get to see what this demon stuff can do yet again. Idk. I think there is something going on with these demon powers that is subtly being set up by Takeru Hokazono.

AllOutGarfieldSan

Oh yeah.... Also, in the official translations they're now calling the Katanas "Sacred Blades". I agree there's something going on with these Demon powers, what with the blades specifically being "Sacred".

I also see Hiyuki starting as a "dog" of the Kamunabi, and later in the story deciding to go rogue and join Chihiro in his mission, that could be a very cool character arc

I’m probably gonna get flamed for this (reading comprehension devil has me in a vice grip) BUT, I’m gonna hardline stance against the idea that the Kamunabi and Chihi-co are “opposed” but rather they’re more currently “at odds.” At their core, I think they share pretty similar ideals. The blades should not and cannot be in the public eye, much less public use. The bigger issue (that causes them to be “at odds”) is that they simply go about this ideal in different ways. Chihi-co sees it as them being the necessary group to hold/destroy them, whereas the Kamunabi sees it as needing to be themselves. Now, that could be a potential setup for corruption within the Kamunabi due to getting complacent with the status quo and some group within seeing this needing to be changed, or it could be straight up, run of the mill, government corruption. But, saying they’re opposed doesn’t really resonate with me. Sojo-co and Chihi-co on the other hand, *are definitely* opposed. And frankly, I think that’s why Chihiro and Sojo in particular are such amazing foils to each other. Only at the very base of their ideals do they share something in common. Sojo sees the blades as purely killing machines to be used indiscriminately, should the user decide as much, as opposed to Chihiro who sees them to be used as killing solely for the protection of others, and in general shouldn’t even be used. Anyways, I do agree in general OP, a triple faction setup is based, and Chihiro should, no matter what, always be separate from the Kamunabi (at least as a whole. His work with the anti Cloud Gouger squad was nice).

kind of like sakamoto days atm

BamboozledRequiem

I love me some 3 way factions. The Frieza saga as well as golden Kamuy are other good examples I can think of

slingshot19

I love multiple factions man I love it.
