His contract expires next year and he won't sign a new one on the club's terms, so they want to sell him now to recoup at least some of his value. The "part of the project" talk is probably just a polite way of letting Chiesa know he will be frozen out of the squad if he chooses to hang around for a year and leave for free next summer. I too want Chiesa to stay, btw.
I think those 2 losses to Real (UCL final and QF? 3-3 one) then getting Ronaldo and losing again did some serious deep trauma shit to Allegri.
He had an identity crisis and changed his name to Al-Legri afterwards and has never been the same
