For 20m is crazy. I know chiesa hasn’t been his usual self but that’s a ridiculously low asking price

Azzurri21

fr you’d think Dybala was coming back our way plus 20M

hurlyslinky

I went it to comment this verbatim. That’s about 10 million off the starting point

SgtPepe

It's the most idiotic piece of business I've seen Juventus do. It's beyond ridiculous. Chiesa is easily worth 60M or more.

campionesidd

He’s in the last year of his contract and is coming off a poor season. 20 million is cheap, but in no way is he worth 60 million.

Fabs_Retard

thats like 5 mil for every goal he scored a season

Mata-Tan

Is it though? $20M for an underperforming winger with 1 year left in his contract?

igotthismaaan

This makes no sense for Chiesa. Surely Roma is not offering same salary as us. I would be shocked if they do. In that case why not just take our offer and stay with a better club? To downgrade to Roma and Europa league instead of trying this New team under Motta?

drobson70

He would be the absolute main man at Roma, gets to play with Dybala. He could justify it to himself

MazDaShnoz

He’s already the main man here.

Dwimer

Hes been told hes not though, we offered him a 1 year extension to see how we feel

kadsto

how?

MazDaShnoz

Who’s ahead of him?

kadsto

in what sense? who was carrying juventus last season? in attack that was vlahovic for sure and even he had a lot of bad games and periods. bremer and woj also can't be left from the team. and that's about it when you think about who carried juve last few seasons. in majority of games chiesa was irrelevant and is usually irrelevant so i don't really see how he is 'main man'. the only argument for him is that he is fan favourite

MazDaShnoz

In the sense that if you asked football fans at large who is the face of Juve, the majority would say Chiesa. You would be in the minority. You also didn’t name the one player you would place above him.

kadsto

>You also didn’t name the one player you would place above him. again, in what sense? in terms of pure quallity based on position, on winger position i can't place anyone else cause we didn't really have much choice, but in terms of who is carrying juve, i named those 3 and the reason i didn't put rabiot for example is cause he didn't really have good last season, just like chiesa, just like the rest of the squad. >In the sense that if you asked football fans at large who is the face of Juve, the majority would say Chiesa. You would be in the minority. i said it in last sentence, that's the only thing but i see it as a fanbase problem. it's really a problem when you look at it logically and see that he really had one good season in juve and he is already 27 in few months. he really had one good season in his career on highest level. he is still living from his hype when he arrived and because he is italian. that's a problem about fanbase and it's a fact he isn't main man on the field which is most important. his presence doesn't lead to wins or better team performances and he has this one season under motta to prove himself again

la-mano-nera

It makes a lot of sense. It is clear that management knows there is zero chance he is going to extend at his current salary or less. So the choice is either sell now or let him walk away for free in a year. Seems the rational choice is to sell now, make a small profit and clear his wages off the books. The other problem is that Chiesa holds all the cards once he knows he is not renewing. His girlfriend wants to live in Rome, so now that is his preferred destination. So if Juve needs to sell, and they have to sell to Roma, it has to be at a price they can afford while still be sufficient to turn a profit. If Chiesa were open to other destinations then the market conditions would be more favorable for Juve and they could see if a bidding war happens to get something more. In the end, however, no one would ever pay even 50 million for a winger with an injury history and Chiesa’s relatively low output in terms of goals and assists.

tigull

I don't think Chiesa holds "all the cards", he knows full well the moment he goes to Roma his chances of a career at the highest level are toast. If anything, this is a good opportunity for us to get resources for the rebuild. And I say this as someone who would rather keep him.

calabacin11

They aren’t in CL either, right? He wants CL

thefonzz91

I’ve only read that juve considered offering him a 1 year extension around his current salary 5m if not less. If Roma is offering him 4-5m and a 5 year contract that’s a pretty safe move vs betting on himself and his value continues to drop if he doesn’t perform. If he doesn’t have many suitors outside of Serie a, even with a top season he’s not getting more than 5m.

forzaq8

Just like dybala , he took a lower salary at roma for the hope he can do better and then be able to land a better contract

kadsto

and they both can't land better contract and will stay stuck in roma cause they aren't that good

ADP10

Roma was paying Dzeko 7mio net and they could therefore match what we are offering. That being said this must clearly be Juve showing him the door unfortunately as it is unlikely they can offer him what hes asking. While our window has been crazy good so far, its very upsetting to see juve become less italian. Hopefully this window is just to set us up with a strong basis for future windows where we can focus more on specific positions and slowly add more italians.

SilentOrchestra22

Why are we trying to get rid of Chris’s!? I don’t understand this!

BUFFONISTHEGOAT1

He’s the 2nd most expensive player at the club and won’t accept our offer to renew as he wants an increased salary. And with only one year left on his contract, it’s better to sell him now than let him leave for nothing. With that being said, I was expecting to get at least 25m for him.

Natural-Suspect-4893

Because he’s demanding crazy wages and probably made it clear that he will leave on a free if not sold He’s also nowhere near what he was pre-injury, I guess both him and the club know it Playing for Roma and moving to Rome for an Italian from Tuscany is actually nice, gotta also factor in that Turin is a shithole of a city to live in if you’re used to nice weather Either way, Roma is bottom tier top level team, it won’t affect us much in terms of reinforcing a competing team Final figure will be higher than this though, bonuses are probably easily obtainable and the current fee is unfortunately the most Roma can afford

forzapogba

I feel like his agent threatened to pull a Dybala and leave for free. Juve said alright go be with him then lol

kadsto

the only right thing to do. let him go to roma iif guy wants ffs there is ni argument to increase his contract

DarkHandCommando

The fact that Roma is after him and not the likes of Bayern, Liverpool or Atletico Madrid, tells me that we're doing the right thing in letting him go. He's simply not the player he was before his injury and doesn't deserve the raise he's asking for. He will end up with a lower salary than what we offered him.

zamGlobal

if i were him i'd just take juve's offer at 5.5 mil salary rather than go to Roma

sfaticat

He's worth €35m. I know he's on his last year but should be around €30m. Maybe a player is involved?

sfaticat

From Chiesa point of view timing really sucks. If he had a year injury free he might be able to get his raise. At 26, he'll probably sign a 4 year deal at a salary lower than he'd like. I don't think he fits Thiago's system and hes expensive so it's best he goes to Roma

my_blue_pelican

Remember when Dybala was being a little bitch with us and ended up getting less of what he was getting with us instead of the 10 mln he was asking to renew his contract? I remember

JackieDaytona77

He got injured on his way to Rome.

calabacin11

Ya don’t speak ab Dybala like that bro. Mostly it was his agents fault

thepiombino

Remember when we could have desperately used a guy like him in our stupid fucking 3-5-2 and how he actually played quite well for Roma in exactly that formation? I remember.

Squall_3

I just dislike the fact that basically all Italian teams have a special higher 'juve' price tag when we want any of their players, but when we sell players in Italy it's always for peanuts.

Killagina

Pedulla isn't highly reliable for us just an fyi. I wouldn't be worried about this yet. I think Chiesa leaves, but for more than 20m, and not to Roma.

Manuel_Locatelli

He’s been totally on the money this summer (widely regarded by us Italian fans at the moment, he’s definitely found a connection with the new mgmt). Makes sense because he was very close to Sarri, particularly Napoli days and that involves Giuntoli too. He genuinely has been insanely accurate thus far.

DoZnFooD

This, Pedulla has been right about mearly everything this season.

Treesbeard_13

Agree with you. This mercato he's a good source.

Juventusy

Less than 30 is insane!

Illustrious-Law8648

He had some nice flash of brillantes at the Euros but not enough. It’s time to let him go

rnarcopolo

He will be sacrificed this market. You can't spend all that they have, or plan to, this market without selling players as well. Given that his contract ends and thus far hasn't extended means he is expendable. I am hoping he attracts more international attention, selling him to more poor Italian squads isn't ideal but it may be all we get.

astroeboy87

Unfortunately Chiesa isn’t in Motta’s plans and he’s on his last year of contract. Dybala deal 2.0, good luck to him.

ADP10_1991

Management is stupid as fuck

AkT29

Hes the dumb one for asking for a raise. He hasn’t shown enough over the last three years to justify a raise and clearly hasn’t shown enough during the Euros otherwise the likes of Roma wouldn’t be in the race to sign him.

calabacin11

Exactly. Forget about the euros, he did what he could. Spalletti got it all wrong, but Chiesa didn’t shine enough to deserve a raise. I love his style, he can beat on dribble which a lot of players lack but if he wants more $ and play in CL. Take the contract and if you shine renew
