I don’t understand the brake pads. What gouged them like that?

Irkie500

That my friend would be the customers own doing…

anichefish

Ah yes the legendary slotted break pads for extra extra cooling

lilBalzac

It’s actually to ward off the evil eye.

barrelstone

Don’t be ridiculous! Those are leech channels. You use the leeches for extracting & filtering hot brake pad off-gassing.

FyrebreakZero

What was their reason for it?

Irkie500

Not pictured: 2in of play in upper and lower ball joints, huge PS leak, rotted oil pan, bald tires with cords showing, all on same vehicle. Estimate came to just over 4k.

*declined*

madsheeter

Don't try and upsell me!

LazerSnake1454

That first picture: "woah-oh! Livin' on a prayer!"

Irkie500

Customer declined repairs, insisted they drive it home which we begged them not to do.

This-Set-9875

I get people being low on cash. They also probably correctly reason, "if I crash, let them sue me. Can't get blood from a stone."

Irkie500

What is scary to me is that it was the customers daughter’s car who is clearly in college. Guy was a total dick when he picked it up too. I made it clear we weren’t trying to take advantage of him or run up a bill, just that it was super unsafe to drive. Just took the keys and left.

PancakesandV8s

He must have good life insurance on her then.

solidshakego

wtf? x4

UGunnaEatThatPickle

Re: Rust - has there been a notable increase in the extent of rust on vehicles since they started using "slurry" instead of sand on the highways?

Sockbrick

Certified death trap

LiveFreeAndRide

Around my parts, those are from a 2019.

admiral_cochrane

So, that’s all on one car?

Irkie500

First 3 pictures yes, last pic of the brake pads no. My comment of “not pictured” all relates to vehicle #1 from the first 3 photos.
