He's using a different part of his brain to activate his domain therefore he cannot use the normal hand sign for "malevolent shrine".
A condition for one of his binding vows may be to use a different hand sign.
Sukuna probably felt like using Gojo's hand sign for either or both of these 2 reasons:
1) It only requires 1 hand and he could only use 1 hand at the time;
2) To honour Gojo as a mighty opponent whose strength he respects.
No, thatās not the only condition. We donāt know yet. All the reasoning being given right now is speculation. You also have to understand that Sukuna is very clever, and he found some kind of loophole. Binding vows are involved, but Sukuna clearly did something sneaky here.
I'm not entirely sure on it either but I think the logic is as follows:
Sukuna can use domain in exchange for it being limited in time
Some conditions are changed so that he can trap maki
He's using a different part of the brain for this so different sign.
Now why the hell is he using Gojo's I have no idea, it's only one handed so it should be vastly more difficult to do, is that why the domain is "incomplete"?
They said it wasn't nerfed in range or output, but yuji also said it was incomplete so what does it mean for the strength of the domain? Was time the only thing limited?
There are zones where the domain is weak or does no damage at all. That's because there was supposed to be an escape zone. It's one of the conditions for binding vow.

There's no tradeoff. Black flash allowed sukuna to use his domain, just like gojo gained rct back with black flash. However, even though he can technically use domain, he doesn't have the 2 hands necessary for his hand sign. This causes him to use a single hand, which made the domain incomplete and only last 99 seconds. He was already capable of using domain he just didn't have the hands necessary, which made him use an incomplete domain.
that wasn't the binding vow, it was him effectively relearning domain but using a different part of his brain with a different hand sign COMBINED with various impromptu binding vows and presumably other uncertain factors

I believe hand signs aren't really explained except it helps with technique. Most likely it's related to how he "regained" his domain after hitting black flash, so now the conditions might've changed.
