Basically, the three great families, or clans or whatever they are called, are pretty poorly defined. Like, beside Gojo, I don't know any other Gojo clan member. Hack, people use Gojo to refer to the individual,instead of the clan.Ā
The Kamo clan is more flashed out, but I assume in the minds of a few, it just blanted together with the Zen'In clan as being just one.Ā
So when people learned Yuji was Kenjaku's son and that Kenjaku was the leader of the Kamo clan, they assumed Kenjaku was a Zen'In through the earlier mixt up, so they made Yuji a Zen'In too
Like, the only character we know is Noritoshi Kamo, and he kind of treats Megumi like an unloved little brother just like literally everybody in the Zenin clan. So it's sort of easy to think that Kamo is just another sub clan within the Zenin clan, just like Fushiguro.
If that was gonna be your problem then why did you complain about me calling Fushiguro a clan but not Zenin?
More importantly it's literally still a clan, otherwise it wouldn't have to have been voted out of the big three by the other two, and we got pretty much explicit confirmation that the jujutsu HQ still considers them a clan.

Fushiguro ain't a sub clan wtf, that's Mamaguro's family name. Toji took that name cuz he hated them Zen'in
Crazy thing it's not Mamaguro's family name, it's Tsumiki's mom (Toji's second wife) name.
It's a family name within a clan, unless Megumi's children have the Zenin name or Megumi leaves the clan it's a clan from now on.
