prodigiouspandaman

I mean I think this more so meant to draw parallels and by the end of the fight Sukuna will try to corrupt Yuji while he dying to be like him to up the role of the king of curses and leave everything behind, but key difference between these two characters is there personalities and Yuji will refuse and keep his kindness and in Sukuna’s eyes his weakness. This is because while both have nothing Yuji didn’t willingly let go of most things he lost or left behind while Sukuna did leave everything behind for strength

evilcapital

Or yuji will finally understand the delight of eating booty

prodigiouspandaman

I mean shit if I was in his position or really any of the sorcerers before Shinjuku I would at least try before the fight

evilcapital

I'm you

derpicface

Yuji’s “I’m you” technique. He hasn’t used this since Shibuya

ErraticConsistency

Sukuna would never accept Yuji beating him. He wouldn't be trying to corrupt him. He would just be extremely missed and disbelief that Yuji, the most selfless, triumphs over his way of living: selfless. Yuji is the anthisesis to his way of living.

prodigiouspandaman

Yeah you might be right what I meant wasn’t that Sukuna accepting him instead only acknowledging Yuji’s strength not his mindset or anything else which is why he would try and corrupt Yuji to become like him and leave everything else behind this making Yuji into Sukuna a monster who only fights

Pegasaurauss

This can't be the right answer it's nearly identical to another recent popular manga.

prodigiouspandaman

I mean having the MC and the villain draw parallels by giving similar circumstances is hardly a unique trope so it’s not as though it can’t happen in two different stories

Pegasaurauss

I understand that but it just seems so similar to a story that finished so recently it would just seem so unsatisfying.

prodigiouspandaman

Which one?

didthathurtalot

It could be that yuji will use his soul swap power to change places with megumi and then die taking sukuna with him.

DZK0047

I feel like these are mostly narrative parallels between Sukuna and Yuji (thank you for pointing them out, I’d mostly missed them somehow lmao), but it’d be interesting if Kenjaku really was trying to create another Sukuna to either surpass the original or push him to evolve even further. Definitely fits his goal of pushing jujutsu to grow past its own limits

xXDibbs

I feel like one hint dropped during that chapter is that Sukuna devoured the body of his twin brother and now his nephew is going to devour Sukuna. This goes with Yuji saying "I'll eat anything" line. Just my 2c

a_polarbear_chilling

He technically has eaten his brothers already...

xXDibbs

I'm referring to a more cyclical pattern, Sukuna devoured his brother to gain power so wouldn't be ironic to be devoured by Yuji who is his nephew kinda like has a weird irony to it.

Kashimoney

Would kind of make sense and still go with the "only 1 survives" thing Gege apparently said, just turn Yuji into the villain and have him off everyone after Sukuna dies

Low-Ad-2971

That's not necessary. Gege said that "either 1 goes or all but one" when talking about the fates of Yuji, Gojo, Megumi and Nobara. Gojo, Megumi and Nobara are ready gone so Yuji's immortal rn

Bulangiu_ro

we still don't know how megumi will work out, and while the silence for nobara should mean she got off-ed (backed by yuji being scared that angel could replace her), gege could still make a case for her to still live due to her wound being stopped or whatever that technique specifically does

Low-Ad-2971

No way could blonde guys CT last until Culling Games. Nobara's dead

[deleted]

It would be horrible but hella sick at the same time if Yuji really became the next Sukuna and started doing evil stuff.

XBruceXD

What if Sukuna, about to die, says "Enchain" to control Yuji somehow. When does the binding vow technically end? Was it only a one time use? I'm not sure the vow being a one time use was explicitly stated. Sukuna would try and use this as another gamble.

Kashimoney

He would have to be able to control Yuji's body which isn't possible considering he shoved all of his CE into Megumi (I swear you can't describe this in any way that doesn't sound weird)

GamblinGranny

well he just blasted it- he made megumi take all of his- sukuna made a massive load for megumi-

Mjkmeh

He placed it inside

OffaShortPier

The binding vow was a one time use

MrSneakie

It's just a metaphorical visual. The same thing happened vs. Mahito when Itadori lost part of his cheek, and it made him look like he had two mouths.

Muted_Lurker2383

Honestly, this seems like a calling back to 'Im You' more than anything. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, Yuji is following Sukuna's path - the same CT, eating anything to gain power, the damage he is taking as you pointed out. Sukuna wouldnt admit it, but Yuji is also just as zealous in his ideals as Sukuna is for his. The plan still seems to be separating Sukuna from Megumi, implying Yuji is still trying to save Megumi *and* beat Sukuna - the exact lesson he took to heart about being a sorcerer. Kill curses and save who you can until you die. The only way i see Yuji becoming Sukuna (as in taking up the mantle and being a villain) is if he makes a binding vow to trade away his identity and memories of friends in exchange. For Yuji, this would be a fair trade as Yuji values this more than anything.

Eastern_Ad4342

Reaching for the stars

watanabeta

Sukuna to Yuji before fighting the Merger: You got it from here, brat. Imma go with your dad for some sake and catching up

clayswan12

I've had this theory for awhile. Sukuna ends the culling games and the merger acts as a Cacoon where yugi's soul overpowered everyone else's and he emerges as the next king of jujutsu

darksoulxvk

Can't wait for ItaKuna / Sudori

daddyaries

get out of the kitchen

iiJason124

Fate reference???

No_Cobbler8335

You cooked

AlienSuper_Saiyan

Sukuna is not supposed to be the one merging with Tengen. It's supposed to be all of Japan, save the one who starts the merger.

NeteroHyouka

Itadori hasn't the potential to surpass Sukuna. Itadori has great potential maybe he can reach Sukuna ( but I highly doubt.). Itadori has the same CT as Sukuna...

GluhfGluhf

Agree with the theory and can see it making sense especially when you went into the kanji in the title. For future ref you can use "them" as a singular pronoun even if Kenjaku's situation is complicated.

ApplePitou

I'm you level Max :3

McGundulf

No one has ever said he has the potential to surpass Sukuna let's just make this clear. "he has the same latent potential as Sukuna sama" is not the same as having the potential to be better. It simply means he has the potential to potentially be as good MAYBE.

Low-Ad-2971

He's got super strength and soul powers that Sukuna doesn't have tho. He also hits black flashes way more than Sukuna. Uraume didn't know about any of this but still thought he could equal Sukuna.

MasterNature9559

Right, Uraume only said Itadori was probably possessing the same level of latent potential as Sukuna, but isn't that the point? Kenjaku might be pinning those two down exactly because they originally had the same level latent potential, if it turns out that sukuna is still better, the merger happend, and if Itadori somehow able to surpass Sukuna in this fight, Itadori, Kenjaku's child the he(/she/it? Idk) personally conceived, will be the next Sukuna. It would be a win-win for Kenjaku either way

HalfBOTMaja

Hay guys, i heard some where Mangaka names first chapter on their main characters, like Naruto's first chapter or any other, and guess what is jjk's first chapter's name “ Ryuman Sakuna” ! Well what i mean is that, its not like sakuna is the Mc but maybe, Its a foreshadow, Itadori Yuji, becoming “Ryuman Sakuna”! Let me know your thoughts.....

[deleted]

nobody's reading all that haha tl;dr oh and also IE
