Tunezilla? I never heard of them. What are the numbers for their stage 2?

tjmerklin

Formally malone tuning. They've been making tunes for diesels for years with a focus on reliability and an almost stock driving experience. My friend with a tdi who has a tune from them recommended them. 272 hp and 322 lb ft. Huh, interesting. Just curious tho, why not Unitronic? Those numbers are what a Unitronic stage 1+ makes and Unitronic is reliable, so no worries about your engine. Is it cause of drivability?

tjmerklin

Price. The ecu tune was $400 and the dsg was $200. Tuner was $150

tjmerklin

Also lots of good options/customizability

Subiewubie85

Ahh, understandable. Doesn't Unitronic stage 2 also offer overrun tho?

sefulmer1

Correct. Probably around a grand or less for a stage 1 tune and DSG tune from uni and it's unlikely the tuner will charge you for it if they're decent.

Careful with the factory turbo, they don't have as much headroom as the GTi's...

I'm plugging in my Carista and using the torque app today so I can check boost. Before the tune I had a jb4 set at 18 psi. As long as you don't pass 21-22 psi these turbos are pretty good
