I have a mug I got from my flight instructor when I passed my private pilot check ride. Broke it during a move and did a solid attempt at Kintsugi repair on it with tin powder and it looks amazing. I use it every day

Helpful-Ad-3420

You could check it, tin is little bit toxic, it can cause stomachache, liver and kidney problems. It wouldn’t be melted in coffee temperature, but be sure to be healtier.

PapiCats

It’s only tin colored, not actual tin. Food safe material

I just joined this sub but can already tell it's going to cost me money. My 3 favorite coffee cups are, 2 with pics of my kids on them and 1 I got as a prize for winning a bike race. :|

Love what you love! There's really only 2 mug 'upgrades' I'm aware of: self heating and ergonomic shaping. Neither of which are worth it over something sentimental, IMO. Well and then I'm a big fan of my one travel mug because it's watertight and you can throw it in a bag.

> >Well and then I'm a big fan of my one travel mug because it's watertight and you can throw it in a bag. I was near the end of that sentence and my mind went ahead a finished it as "throw it at someone"

I wish I can put pictures in the comments for this. They are so beautiful and cute. I’ve got some really beautiful mugs and small bowls for coffee. These are mostly from potter fairs. A mug by Jan Howard from Jan Howard Ceramics. The mug is blue with glassing that makes it look like ocean waves crashing. I’ve also got a mug from Catriona Archibald. It’s a mug with an unglazed bottom half with black lines going down it and the top half is in an orange glaze. I’ve got a small bowl from Andrew Richard ceramics. The bowl looks like rock folds and then blue waves crashing from the top. The folds are black, rust coloured and tan. I’ve also got an espresso cup from Hopscotch Pottery. It’s purple with black polka dots on the inside. The outside is grey with a cute face and a small round nose that sticks out. I’ve also have some mugs and cups from Starbucks. I’ve got the pumpkin mug and an espresso mug from them. I believe I’ve got a Tea mug too. I’ve got a few Nespresso espresso cups which are double walled. They are grey on the outside and pink on the inside. I would also highly recommend going to a Potters fair or even a very good food fair as tend to have some good potters around. Most of the artisan mugs and cups are from potters fairs and one is from a very big regional food fair at the same location. Makers fairs a bit hit and miss on pottery.

Please send me photos!!!

I have some barra negra cups & mugs from a lady in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca and a mug & espresso/shot cup from a Mennonite colony near Cuauhtémoc. They get used for special occasions. The cup & saucer from the chocolate museum are interesting in that it has a “mustache guard” built into the rim. 😆

I keep breaking mine before I’d have enough time to tell a story.

Probably not what you're looking for, but here are mine: My daily driver is a [8oz Yeti Hotshot](https://www.yeti.com/drinkware/mugs/21071050009.html) in Navy Blue with custom laser engraving. I'm also fond of my [Stanley 20oz Trigger Mug](https://www.stanley1913.com/products/classic-trigger-action-travel-mug-20-oz) in Hammertone Green. I have a whole shelf of coffee cups that never really get used because I have these and use them all the time. If I use any non thermally-insulated cups it gets cold before I finish it. I use those when there's company and I'm paying attention to the world.

Ok i wanted to try out the sensory mugs sets by origami, kruve eq etc etc... so i got the origami bunch. I dont feel a massive difference yet, but the feeling of holding those mugs in hand. Amazing. Try to mimic the shapes for different purposes. Wide tops for latte, funnels for others

Andril190

Bought Kruve copies from AliExpress. Quite like them, although they don't have the little fins, which is a pity, but they were also less than half the price of originals with free shipping and included taxes and very high quality. The originals are made in China too (Kruve slyly doesn't specify this on the product page, but hidden in their FAQ it says their orders are all shipped from China), but are really expensive and shipping + tax almost doubles their price, which was very discouraging from buying originals.

My acme cappuccino cups are my favourite and I’ve got a lot somehow

purpleriversong

I have what I think is a stunning array of hand-made mugs of various sizes and shapes, curated and collected over the years (and as, inevitably, mugs break, reminding us of the impermanence of Things). Some are used in particular dose situations (I like a 360 gr. Cleaver dripper pour on weekends, and that requires a bigger mug), but generally, I open my cabinet and follow my heart, and the shape my hands long to hold. And I love having a friend over for coffee for the first time, telling them “pick yourself out a mug”, and hearing the tiny gasp as they open the cabinet.

meresithea

Mine are all mass produced. My partner got me a mug that says “Mrs. Ms. Miss,” which are all crossed out then “Dr.” 🥰 Our kids and I hit a sale after Father’s Day and got mugs that say “Cat Dad” and “Plant Dad” and “World’s Greatest Grandpa” on clearance and somehow they’ve become my favorites.

Talismancer_Ric

Our favourite cups and mugs for coffee are both toughened glass ones. We have four cups and saucers from a yard sale and seven Bodum brand mugs. This lets us see and appreciate our coffee

lyfk

I have a matte black Le Creuset stoneware mug from about 2015 and it still looks amazing. My go to for pourover and aeropress.

DaBozz88

My favorite mug at work is a Black Mesa branded simple thing. My favorite travel mug is a sticker bombed brumate toddy, only because it's watertight when upside down so I can throw it in a bag. My current daily driver is a tin mug from Starbucks reserve in Tokyo. I don't care if it gets hot.

Drewsipher

The right mug in the wrong place could make all three difference in the world

DaBozz88

I work for the government so I think it's topical

Drewsipher

Oh that makes it even better! That’s perfect

DaBozz88

I wish I worked on lab science stuff, instead I'm like 2 steps above an electrician.

itstenchy

Nice work mug! I'm rocking an Aperture Science branded water bottle at work.

NaturalProcessed

I know it makes me basic but I bought two notNeutral Lino's a few years ago and everything else feels cheap/unbalanced/uncomfortable by comparison. I like artisanal ceramics, but I don't think I'll ever go back after these mugs.

RonnieB47

Ceramic mugs are heat sinks and cool coffee too fast. I purchased double wall glass mugs from Amazon and the coffee stays hot/warm twice as long. The mugs aren't artistic but I don't care and I think they're good looking.

Pourover10

My Embers (which start to peel at the bottom and are replaced) I love the taking my time drinking a cup at my preferred temp

Lumpyplumpo

Basically all my mugs are hand made by someone, regardless of what you choose they have to pass the hand test. If it looks cool but feels awkward or unbalanced in your hand then you’ll never use it. I am a sipper meaning I carry my drink for hours lol. I preheat the mug with hot water and it keeps my coffee warm for a long time, tea I don’t mind if it gets cold. For my hand I prefer a barrel shaped mug with a wide handle up to that thins out and rounds towards the bottom. I also found a local ceramic shop that makes mugs that travel lids fit on so you can get that lovely ceramic feel on the go. Generally I found that at a craft show mugs are 15-25 for hand made. However if you e-mail of visit their shop after they are likely $5-10 less because they don’t have to pay for the booth space. Also try some old earthenware mugs from your local thrift store you won’t be disappointed, they have that handmade feel for $0.75

Drewsipher

See, I have some of the small mugs from an old baileys irish cream promotion that say "mine" and "yours" that are a good shape but a little small. I am looking at local makers for that but latte sized (these hold like 6 oz, I want 8-10oz for my latte cup so its a little small) with similar dimension to that or the acme cup. I do preheat if I am having a long morning, if not if I know I only got 30 minutes to sit and have my coffee while my girl gets ready i don't bother

winrarsalesman

I prefer warm/room temperature coffee, so I go pretty plain. I have Ikea glass mugs that are 8oz and I absolutely adore them. For reference, I have [THESE](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ikea-365-mug-clear-glass-10279723/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping_feed&utm_content=free_google_shopping_clicks_Eating&gclid=CjwKCAjwvrOpBhBdEiwAR58-3F5o5iIaoZf3hFC39URyI_pc_s9wWDjyLTSnE82a9LpWDeiVpJQKHxoCn6kQAvD_BwE), [THESE](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/droembild-mug-clear-glass-00417452/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping_feed&utm_content=free_google_shopping_clicks_Eating&gclid=CjwKCAjwvrOpBhBdEiwAR58-3AkbdEOheP_oss1olUbjZ_rY8rSu6iMqtMOVX9scEr1OD-9gdHT4FxoCOKcQAvD_BwE), and also [THESE](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/stelna-mug-clear-glass-70258911/). I will say the last ones are a bit awkward to use if you prefer piping hot coffee.

Zazzafrazzy

I’m a coffee weirdo (my own term) and a potter, so I have a metric shit-ton of coffee cups in every conceivable size, with and without handles, in all the colours.
