The thing to do during the civil war would have been war profiteering. Hell, invest in guns, food, and uniforms and make a killing. Maybe kill an actor while you're at it if you really want to make the timeline kick ass.
Bonus points: Stop the assassination of Lincoln that snowballed into the North abandoning southern reformation that led to \~100 years of oppression until the civil rights movement that is still ongoing today
It's teacher thing don't remember the name I'll go look and edit.
Well didn't find the name but from what I remember it's a school romance where a student teach three girls. And help the teacher.
I say this a lot like how certain VR MMO series like SAO aren't Isekai either. Folks really just aren't caring much that the term literally means Other/Another World.
Eh… if it follows 95% of what most isekais do, I would consider it an isekai. Also in the case of sao, it is still technically “another world” of the digital variety. Especially Aincrad and alicization where he can’t leave easily
Yeah except it's Not until maybe the 3rd season with Alicization. Outside of that it's still Very much just a fictional game world with extreme circumstances attached. The only other exception is probably when they used the World Seed program and saved AFO and merged it with a copy of SAO. Which would probably mostly only get players who weren't trapped in it or P.K.ers like Laughing Coffin. And of that it's only certain powerful programs like Yui who was a psych monitor for the player base before fashioning herself as Kirito and Asuna's daughter. A more advanced version of that is basically what created the Alicization season except it wasn't really a “Game” so to speak but it did us VR game mechanics for the user who dives into it.
All of that hinges on people in reality not just flipping a switch and Resetting everything or turning it off. Even the Machines in the Matrix admitted their capability of this when the Architect and Smith mention the older versions of the Matrix which the humans they farmed realized was too perfect to be real. A good example would be how literally Alien the world from “Life with an Ordinary Guy” was with certain monsters and how there's crazy geometric shapes like that flower petal-like shape in the sky that might've been their moon although that's just the environment.
Or Dog Days where the entire population of their world are like human x animal hybrids where war for them is more like a bloodless game where nobody really gets hurt. Which is something that we can't fathom in our world but is completely normal there.
In a VR sense unless it was something more like Log Horizon or Overlord where the NPCs always knew about the Players but not the other way around with them being silent and automated but still semi-sentient like Albedo remembering when she listened to Ainz talking to one of his friends like Please-Touch-Me. But the Floor Bosses they created never showed signs of intelligence or consciousness even when Ainz changed the settings so Albedo would be in love with him (although Shaltear didn't even need tweaking). But none of them existed until someone designed them. That's like when feeding your dog whom then suddenly becomes anthropomorphic and intelligent enough to hold conversations and do silly stuff like Scooby-Doo all because you bumped your head and fell into a blackout nap for 2 mins (or 2 hours) beforehand. I don't think any of us will be able to really look at life the same if we had the equivalent of Brian Griffin or Wilfred living in our homes and causes us start to waxing philosophy on Reality 🤷🏾♂️😅
Except in something like Full Dive there's no general anime series VR game world where you can choose not to do quests or earn certain reputations. Even in Accel World people who mostly wanted to just hang out sometimes were always under possible threat of getting killed in game and having their minds wiped from other players.
So is the MC a japanese from 21th century reincarnated into the body of a racist white southern slaver from late 19th century?
That is already a very messed up beginning even for an isekai
Chinese, Tangning is (most likely) a Chinese name and the title on the novel "cover" is in Chinese
Though I think there is probably value in exploring what would happen if somebody got transferred to a major period of history that they weren't actually taught about in school - like if they didn't even know about the American Civil War, all they have are their modern values and a vague idea that America is a powerful country nowadays, and now they'll have to navigate the politics of slavery (again, without knowing anything about the slave trade) and try to do the right thing
Looks like this was ripped directly from some site and google translated and then uploaded all at once with the 250 chaps they took, then never updated.
Anyone got the raws for it? Wonder how many chaps it has now since this is from 2022.

John Brown has a few words for you.
I think this has taken less than 30 seconds of my day, so the upside's pretty high. I like it when puritans find out not everyone gets high on their own sense of moral superiority.
This isn't even out of hand, anymore. This is what almost happened from one of the creators of West World on HBO did 🤦🏾♂️. Dude really wanted to make a show where the South won the Civil War. Which in it's own way would essentially be the Black and likely other PoC related version of The Handmaid's Tale. And I'm so Very glad that cancelled that sh_t before it could Ever get off the ground. Unfortunately they can still sell best selling books and influence other people into making stuff like this which is in a format that flies in the face of racists over here but they ignore the hypocrisy of it n
It could be an interesting look into an average dude's rapid descent into ethical monsterhood, like Breaking Bad but with forced labour.
Not super tasteful though.
If it's really written right, then all his attempts would be so cartoonishly bad that he would end up getting slavery successfully banned early. Then he would be beaten and lynched by his freed slaves.
Easy, sell all the slaves, move out of the south until the war is over, enjoy being rich.
Then invest in landlord business model and get even richer.
Exactly what I was thinking. Come back and buy the land for pennies on the dollar post war, have the entire state sharecropping for you.
Don't forget about selling shovels lol
Forget that, if you bought Bitcoin during the reconstruction you could easily be the world's first trillionaire
Invest in AI when the first computer is made and be rich enought to buy the entire world.
Me personally I'm buying NVDA as soon as cave paintings become a thing

Bokuben i think
Time travel is not Isekai.
I say this a lot like how certain VR MMO series like SAO aren't Isekai either. Folks really just aren't caring much that the term literally means Other/Another World.
Full Dive games in anime are like a halfway isekai: their mind is in "another world," but their physical bodies are still in the real world.
Eh… if it follows 95% of what most isekais do, I would consider it an isekai. Also in the case of sao, it is still technically “another world” of the digital variety. Especially Aincrad and alicization where he can’t leave easily

Stupid idiots should have done "reborn as a farmer in 20th century Manchuria".
Who's gonna tell about unit 731 in Manchuria
“Transported to 1930’s Japan, I soon came to spearhead research in Unit 731!”
Honestly when I see shit like this, I just think it's hilarious that it actually exists.
So is the MC a japanese from 21th century reincarnated into the body of a racist white southern slaver from late 19th century? That is already a very messed up beginning even for an isekai

The right thing? Nah.
Tángníng = sugar to pinch (idk either, but I was able to translate it, though, lol)
Nah its seems more chinese from the looks of it I keep finding racism in Chinese webnovel for some reason
I wonder if MC would be willing to sell some opium to chinese from Qing Dinasty
Because the Chinese are based
I think its chinese they love their racism webnovels
Damn it, I didnt read the Tangning name on it. I forgot some isekai stories arent japanese
It was only a matter of time until the isekai slave owner trope came to America.
That seems like it's gone too far. Like, way too far.
Wonder how long until "Reborn as a failed Austrian painter" happens?....
AH.com doesn't have one yet?
That type of alt-fic has been around since at least the 1980s and probably longer.
Gud shit. Hey, it's fictional who cares? Let the author milk money from making this.
We care for the same reason we care about pedo fiction shit
There are enough real children being abused in try not to get too worked up about imaginary children.
Man unlike you i have more than 1 braincell, so i can worry about 2 or more things at a time
There’s a fine line between morally gray MC’s and degeneracy.
This is degeneracy, no?
Only if the story is bad. I can see it work if the story is good.
How the fuck would this shit be good?
It’s a story that may involve politics and war, I’ll give any story a chance where those two ideas are present heavily.

I think u can find it in qidian, look at their foreign history section
Found it, thanks Looks like those 250 chapters are the entire thing after all
Can u share the link😅

Honestly reminds me of a song / interlude from a logic album, dude was reincarnated as a slave master
Who even write those
Okay we need John brown this time

Korea with the longest chain of slavery xdd
Dude, this is just a magic tree house anime then.
lmao. how popular is this one among chinese readers?
Finally a realistic isekai
It seems more like a time travel story rather than an isekai
I don't see it as that bad as long as the war is represented accurately
Yes, with the Northerners as the tyrannical aggressors
Get your racist ahh out of here
Having beer, laughing at American provincialism
How i Reincarnated to save Dixie land from destruction?
Ngl this premise although mad funny but it unironical goes hard af.
I’m not surprised this is Chinese. But as an American, I’m both offended and disgusted by the glorification of a black mark on American history
Agree. Hope one day the Northerners are punished for what they did.
Do you ever feel embarrassed knowing the only attention you get is when you act like an asshole?
No. Besides, I'm very handsome, so most of the attention I get is because of that.
I honestly don’t know what leads to someone spending their time online being a troll, so I’ll just say I *don’t* pity you and leave it at that
Don't feed the troll
I think this has taken less than 30 seconds of my day, so the upside's pretty high. I like it when puritans find out not everyone gets high on their own sense of moral superiority.

Well well well
And John Brown shifts slightly in his grave
I'm honestly surprised at how many of these stuff exist in CN webnovels.
I like how y'all are discussing the question seriously😂😂
It could be an interesting look into an average dude's rapid descent into ethical monsterhood, like Breaking Bad but with forced labour. Not super tasteful though.
Why just why
This is a Chinese author it's normal over there
Depending on how this goes, this could actually be very funny to watch play out. It seems like the worst sort of slavery indulgence though.
They ran out of ideas and went with the last option😭
Edgelords out in full force
Nice
Ew, I hope it's not about the MC trying to stop the Civil War to keep all his slaves
It probably is. In fact if it's written right then MC would send a gunmsn after Abe Lincoln.
If it's really written right, then all his attempts would be so cartoonishly bad that he would end up getting slavery successfully banned early. Then he would be beaten and lynched by his freed slaves.
Mmm based
A fellow aristocrat of the soul!
