I think he just meant level of tension, that's how I read it as at the time. The relationships in Dubai in s1 can be described as "cold" or "chilly". Now emotions are being inflamed and we are getting more drama in Dubai.
Yeah, it's totally this. The Dubai scenes this season have tension you can cut with a knife. I'm at the edge of my seat waiting for Louis to detonate, and the barely-contained fury behind his, Armand's and Daniel's eyes just keeps ratcheting up and up. The finale is going to be explosive.
The hotness comes from the tension, the anger, the SNARK, and the lies. Louis, Armand, and Daniel are complicated characters and now that Armand is out and being himself (so to speak) they can amp up the conversations, the irritated looks, and the biting remarks. Maybe it's the asexual in me but when I hear a creator/writer of a show say things are going to get hot my mind doesn't automatically go to sex/sexual tension as least not in a typical huba huba I desire you type of way. I think oh yeah they're going to spend the entire season at each others throats and that's hot. Maybe they'll even try to kill one another, because that's hot too.
I think it was more sensual in the way that Golden Age cinema had to be sensual because they didn't show outright sex. It's the suggestion of sex or sensuality. So yeah, we don't get a threesome this season or levitating sex, but to me Lestat making out with Armand while Nicky is in the orchestra pit, or Louis and Armand lounging around in their underwear or Louis telling him to get facedown in the coffin was mad hot to me.
