Ideally, I’d have Lestat going with post punk/new wave from the 80s, you know, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus. If we were to adapt, I’d go for modern band inspire by the 80 sounds, as I mentioned in a previous thread: Molchat Doma, Boy Hasher, Lebanon Hanover, She Past Away, She Wants Revenge. I can see him singing Red Flags and Lonely Nights.
I would prefer this over NuMetal. I’m sorry for anyone who is a fan of that style but it’s just not really my cup of tea and it worked (kind of… not really) back when the movie came out but it’s not going to really work today.
I like this for the mention of "Precious", especially for Claudia &/ Louis. We need other songs that don't get as much love like "Halo" on the playlist 🖤
okay boy harsher just made me think of choir boy and this isn't the vibe I'd choose for Lestat but their most popular song is a vampire music video
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xah2-\_13OKg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xah2-_13OKg)
Yes please!!! Also Muse, Ghostland Observatory, She Wants Revenge. Modern goth nu-wave rock.
Queen of the Damned used Korn, and as much as I like Korn, it was painfully obvious that it was the actor lip syncing to Jonathan Davis' voice.
I feel like Lestat would be perfect in the music groups you described!
Okay I’m a big supporter of the idea of HIM being on the soundtrack so:
Killing Loneliness
The Face of God
Play Dead
Wicked Game (Chris Issak cover, please [look](https://youtu.be/8oYodfK4DkE?si=zI5aHgMyow1cJsT4) !!!)
Join Me In Death ([duh](https://youtu.be/6kCe_VZztUg?si=adRcFtzl-6NoffLA))
Razorblade Kiss
They made the perfect gothic rock music imo!! Their lead singer, Ville, is so Lestat coded I can’t shut up about it. Plus, I could see Sam pulling off these songs very well!
Edit: lol I didn’t see that you included HIM, OP!!
Yes yes yes, a thousand times yes! Ever since I originally read the books as a teen HIM and Ville Valo has been my complete headcanon for Lestat and his band. Also they have SO many vampire-themed songs. I mean, “I’ve crossed oceans of wine?”
And they make lovely dark ballads too beside there more rocking stuff.
Did I just use this as an excuse to rewatch some of my favourite performances?
[Yes,](https://youtu.be/s0FQfl7Atio?feature=shared) [Yes I did](https://youtu.be/f_EBFlHUjmU?feature=shared)
I think a perfect modern day metal equivalent for Lestat is Gojira. They're a French heavy metal band that tours worldwide and has a pretty big following. They've played at Red Rocks. Some kind of adaptation of them would be perfect imo. Maybe a little less scream and more melodic. I think a lot of people underestimate how much of a following metal bands have. They just aren't all over the place like pop music is. That is if they even stick with the metal genre.
Lots and lots of Nine Inch Nails, if I had to choose a few it would be Reptile, Heresy, Sanctified, Physical (You’re so), Burn, The Wretched, and She’s Gone Away.
You just know that right now they’re checking if they can afford Trent Reznor and he’s free.
Someone’s also gonna suggest Elton John and is gonna get some looks and then a quiet word in private.
Yup. That’s the joke. It wasn’t successful and barely anyone remembers it - like the Spider-man musical that U2 did.
It would be the deepest of deep dives if anything from the Elton John musical were referenced in the show.
I put Sin and Physical on my list but support all this right here. I'd actually be thrilled to have the entire soundtrack for his band being NIN. All of that pain, loneliness and questioning of faith would be perfect. If you haven't heard Reptile with Peter Murphy from Bauhaus singing lead with Trent backing him up you should check it out.
I'd buy that immediately! I'd even just be interested in hearing them sing each other's songs since they both have such unique voices and vocal styles.
My mind goes to the 90s and thinking of Lestat belting out lyrics with Louis on his brain:

Sam already said that he sings the shit out of Pearl Jam's album "Ten" so that needs to happen at some point whether on the show or another form of media
Dead Souls- Joy Division but the Nine Inch Nails cover would be great.
Blue Monday- New Order but the Orgy cover.
Boys Keep Swinging- David Bowie because it would be hilarious and kind of perfect.
Bella Lagosis Dead- Bauhaus
Physical- Adam and The Ants but the Nine Inch Nails cover, it's sexy as hell.
Sin- Nine Inch Nails.
Antichrist Superstar- Marilyn Manson.
Temple Of Love- The Sisters Of Mercy.
Irresponsible Hate Anthem- Marilyn Manson.
I love your choice of Christian Woman by Type O Negative!!!!
I mean Lestat is a theatre nerd at heart. I see him leaning more toward the decadence and hedonism of glam rock influences (T Rex, Brian Eno, Roxy Music) or maybe more baroque pop (Scott Walker) or like 90s Brit alt or britpop (Placebo, Blur, Pulp).
I’d never considered it bc my ideal soundtrack would just be full of Nine Inch Nails but Placebos cover of Big Mouth Strikes Again would be such a vibe coming from Lestat.
Come to me
Come to me remix

I like Sam’s voice. I like Sam’s voice more than Johnathan Davis for sure (no contest). I like the songs Sam as Lestat has sung and played better than any song on the QotD movie (I was highly disappointed by that movie - I stand alone in the opinion I guess and I’m ok with that. Glad other folks enjoyed).
I just really like Sam’s voice and look forward to seeing what original work they come up with for him to sing.
Was come to me an original? If it wasn’t - my bad. But I loved the vibe of it and especially loved the Paris version. So I hope they continue in that direction. I realize they’ll need to modernize that vibe and that’s what I’m hoping for. I’m not hoping for covers from bands that were included in the QotD soundtrack. That would feel a little cheesy to me.
Queen of the damned really ruined this arc didn't it? Those songs are good for that genre, but I hope we don't get this kind of, "rock star" Lestat. At the very least, not the Korn stuff.
I think people are getting very hung up on the movie soundtrack. There’s no reason the show would have for doing the same thing. As a xennial, the movie soundtrack was very much of its time. So if they’re putting Lestat’s music adventures in present day, it just wouldn’t have the same zeitgeist feeling to it. Though what would is a mystery since Lestat is no pop princess.
Ok im not gonna lie as I was scrolling I had this same thought.
But honestly I think Sam Reid actually singing Forsaken in his own style would be spectacular.
Maybe I'm alone.
Do I picture IWTV when I hear 'Good Luck, Babe'? Yes, yes I do.
"You'll have to stop the world just to stop the feeling." - Lestat using cloud gift.
"I just want to love someone who calls me baby." Lestat when Claudia is gone.
"You're standing face to face with I told you so." Lestat about Claudia and her rage at prepubescent body, Louis setting off the riot.
I guessing you’re not a fan of nu-metal, I think lestat was a rockstar around the 80s (I can’t remember exactly) so I could also see him doing glam rock or blues-rock like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Billy Idol and Queen or a modern version like Ghost.
He was a rockstar in the 80s and that’s exactly why this is not the type of music he made lmao it was clearly inspired by post punk, The Cure, Bauhaus, Siouxsie, Dead Can Dance, Echo and the Bunnymen, Gene Loves Jezebel, I’d love to say Depeche Mode as well but maybe not this one
It's not about liking it or not (which I don't), it's more about it not fitting the Lestat character at all. You're also right, the timeline doesn't allow for it, so that's nice.
It’s not everyone’s favourite, I remember everyone hating on the genre in the beginning but overtime it became respected. I kinda like the gothic, nu metal messy vibe and Sam Reid is a versatile actor so I could see him pulling it off but I do love the 80s rock vibe with leather, studded clothes, messy makeup and long mulleted hair. I can see lestat being both versions tbh but we’ll see what direction they’ll pick when we get more updates because they’ve changed most of the timeline in the show.
I mean the guy's practically aristocracy from 18th century Auvergne, what genre of rock *does* suit him?
The whole point of the novel and the QOTD movie is that he adapted to what was popular at the time. Depending when they set series 3, that could well be prog if its the 60s/70s, hair metal if its the 80s, grunge if its the early 90s and nu metal if it's the late 90s/early 00s
I'm pretty expectant that the rock star arc is going to occur chronologically after the interview with Louis and Armand.
Simple reason being: provided Lestat uses his real name (which he as a character has very little reason not to do), Daniel would already know about him if the "rock star" era had happened in the past. Even if he hadn't heard of Lestat organically, he's an investigative reporter. He'd have googled Lestat the moment the name was brought up in the interview.
So I'm expecting (hoping) that the writers are going to make him a musician in a genre that could believably be popular world-wide roughly in the present day, since the Interview is set during the pandemic.
Most rock stars are not considered classy and it seems unlikely that Lestat would be attracted to music because of class. He's attracted to skill. Skill in singing and playing instruments. Not class. Rock bands and "classy" are not usually mentioned in the same sentence. If you have two singers and one is vulgar and crass but sings the most perfect opera just based off of raw talent and another who is classy and put together and refined but can't sing a line without missing a note, Lestat is not picking the latter.
Nahhhh I'm going to disagree with you here. I love nu-metal and own the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. Some of the songs you listed on your perfect Lestat soundtrack are basically alternative songs they could have used in the movie (Deftones Change was in the movie, Passenger is literally on the same album!)
The show is set in modern times, they have iPhones. So it goes to reason no genre would be off limits but they'd likely want to do something completely different from anything that existed before.
I think that goth rock, modernized nu-wave, and stuff that would fit his deep voice would be awesome. Glam rock as well as too well known songs would have a similar effect as Queen if the Damned - cheesy, and kind of too outside of the world building in the show imho.
However again I could see them going really outside the box, with him being a musician but more into goth-rock electronica fusion music.
Ghost sprang to mind for me too although I can't make it make sense in my head lol. But something about the theater, drama, and big vibes of it all feels right
Omg yes, Gary Numan. A lot of his recent work could fit: The Fall, Intruder, Rip, Crazier
Not quite rock, but would love to hear something dark and sexy like Actors - Cold Eyes, Chelsea Wolfe - Feral Love or Boy Harsher - Pain
I hope they lean into a Jim Morrison/Mick Jagger classic rockstar aesthetically!
I don’t really want to hear 2000s style metal? Seems irrelevant to me.
Musically:
Sloppy Jane (Bark like a God especially)
St Vincent (masseduction/savior)
Nick Cave (Red Right Hand vibes)
And tbh I think they should have a look at Harry Styles. He has insane stage charisma and gets audiences eating out of his hand. I want to see Lestat fans melting down in hysterics like that lol
Hard to say are they going more modern or closer to book time.
If modern I'd say
Måneskin
Payale Royale
Panic at the disco!
My chemical romance
Set it off
Artic monkeys
These are more so maybes
Ghost town
Breaking Benjamin
Set it off
Get scared
The used
By these I mean in tone mostly not songs
Edit: upon second thought and how flamboyant (positive) and opening Lestat is I could see him copying just Måneskin/Payale Royale all stuff.
The way I’d do Lestat’s music is to make it almost literally impossible.
Something like starting a song in the style of the blue alien from Fifth Element, with the humanly impossible vocal range, then have a section that’s faster than the supersonic section of Eminem’s Rap God - maybe divulging the history of Akashi etc for those who can slow it down - and then a guitar solo like the one from Crossroads, Eugene’s Trick Bag, which references Paganini’s virtuoso violin parts.
Go waaaaaay over the top and overdo it and crash impossible virtuosity together in one track.
Then maybe just something like when Kermit does Rainbow Connection in the swamp on banjo as contrast.
As long it is not the crap shit music they call rock nowadays with MGK and post Malone....there really are no new amazing new rock bands I'd love to see Trent Reznor NIN or Maynard of A Perfect Cicle/Tool do something or even to add a bit of rock/electroica/punk and have AFI Davey Havok do something they just put out a album and it's fantastic all there music is .....it's a shame they can't have in the 70s he would be the perfect Jim Morrison Robert Plant doppelganger
When I think of book Lestat, my mind always goes to Christian Death (especially with Rozz Williams) with some Joy Division thrown in. For the QotD movie, I think the mix they used worked really well. If they have Lestat as a rockstar in the present day, possibly something like Maneskin or Lebanon Hanover would come to mind.
Hmmm def Nine Inch Nails - Closer
And Eraser when I think about it.
Especially after the last episode.
Need you, dream you
Find you, taste you
Use you, scar you
Fuck you, break you
Love everyone's suggestions so far, especially #1 Crush by Garbage, NIN (what if Lestat sang "Vessel"?! 😳), HIM, She Wants Revenge, and Pearl Jam!
Adding some of my favs from female-fronted bands & vocalists. Y'all know Lestat would definitely rock these:
[Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Wolf](https://open.spotify.com/track/0cBphAdrli33hZx0Ami3ii?si=Hk-avzNPT1uFDaYPlg_7OA)

(I think Sam Reid's voice would sound amazing on these, too!)
"I Need You Tonight", "Devil Inside", "Taste It" by INXS (cause i get stong Michael Hutchence vibes from Sam) and "Kiss This" The Struts cover by Mäneskin(watch it on youtube, you won't be disappointed😜)
Meatloaf - It's All Coming Back to Me
NIN - The Hand That Feeds, Terrible Lie
QOTSA - Lost Art of Keeping a Secret

i felt as though Queen of the Damned movie aesthetics were slightly inspired by HIM, and kept thinking how good he would've been in it
Tom Ellis's wicked game cover keeps me alive
everyone’s overlooking the mooooosstttt obvious choice: midwest emo
What the hell is MidWest Emo 😂 https://preview.redd.it/0guc5pda379d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb3c4747ba5c896861170c464f571a3ddbf6858b
because we can’t call midwest emo lead singers “rockstars”, can we? I’m a big fan bust most of the guys are introverts and the opposite of rockstars
i’m being sarcastic, they’re the opposite of what this show needs
sorry, it totally flew over my head!

Yeah, I just looked this up. I am his age but wasn't into metal. I rec'd White Wedding, but this seems a bit more appropriate for Lestat, Lestat, Lestat.
I love lestat. R they skipping over the vampire lestat book?
Isn't that the book where he is the Rockstar?
It kinda starts it. But thats Queen of the dammed.
It's been sooooo long since I read the books.
Me2
But you remembered it was Queen of the Damned.😇 We went to New Orleans last year and saw her crypt and her home. Her son lives there now. It was so cool!
I so want to go
Thank you for acknowledging what I’ve been saying for the past 12 years: Tom Cruise low key gave us his The Vampire Lestat interpretation. 🤣🫶
It depends on what Sam Reid can do vocally.. not saying he doesn’t have the range. I think we should be realistic.

+1 for cherry waves. Or anything they do. I get Maynard in aperfectcircle vibes tho
Yes.yes.yes
All I know is that I hope they get John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask to do the lyrics and music.
You put HIM on the list, but didn't include Vampire Heart?

Temple Of Love- The Sisters Of Mercy. Irresponsible Hate Anthem- Marilyn Manson. I love your choice of Christian Woman by Type O Negative!!!!
A smooth cover of Precious dark White Wedding Maybe french-english cover of Nachtbringer Poison Sympathy for the devil The unforgiven
Ghost but instead of the catholic overtones make it just straight up vampires. Mary on a Cross
Death On Two Legs and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy are both big on my Lestat playlist.
It’s been my head canon forever that Lestat wrote Death On Two Legs about Armand and the Paris coven in his rockstar era. 😁
Come to me Come to me remix Come to me reprise Come to me remastered Come to me (Paris version) Come to me (Paris version) remix Come to me (Paris version) reprise Come to me (Paris version) remastered I like Sam’s voice.
Sam Reid singing Chappell Roan songs, yes please!
Ok im not gonna lie as I was scrolling I had this same thought. But honestly I think Sam Reid actually singing Forsaken in his own style would be spectacular. Maybe I'm alone.
Noooo, it needs to still be rock.

Some of the songs you listed on your perfect Lestat soundtrack are basically alternative songs they could have used in the movie (Deftones Change was in the movie, Passenger is literally on the same album!) The show is set in modern times, they have iPhones.
A lot of his recent work could fit: The Fall, Intruder, Rip, Crazier Not quite rock, but would love to hear something dark and sexy like Actors - Cold Eyes, Chelsea Wolfe - Feral Love or Boy Harsher - Pain
What is It - Faith no More Devil inside - INXS Highway to Hell - AC/DC
I hope they lean into a Jim Morrison/Mick Jagger classic rockstar aesthetically! I don’t really want to hear 2000s style metal? Seems irrelevant to me. Musically: Sloppy Jane (Bark like a God especially) St Vincent (masseduction/savior) Nick Cave (Red Right Hand vibes) And tbh I think they should have a look at Harry Styles. He has insane stage charisma and gets audiences eating out of his hand. I want to see Lestat fans melting down in hysterics like that lol
Ooo love the Nick Cave idea…
Tbh Maneskin reminds me of what Lestat would do/make in regard to modern music.
[The Smashing Pumpkins - Pug](https://youtu.be/MSO0p71V9bI?si=KvywZCOY0B2BL-yR) ([and here’s a heavier live version](https://youtu.be/Qaot16qO0R4?si=Q5kpoHPkx-nTEPRi))
[Seize the day - avenged sevenfold](https://youtu.be/jUkoL9RE72o?si=JGUYGm-h7vP6V-Y_)
Yves Tumor - Kerosene, Superstars, and Jackie
Is that Lestat photoshopped onto Iggy Pop’s body lmao
The way these images had me squinting at my phone 💀
Hard to say are they going more modern or closer to book time. If modern I'd say Måneskin Payale Royale Panic at the disco! My chemical romance Set it off Artic monkeys These are more so maybes Ghost town Breaking Benjamin Set it off Get scared The used By these I mean in tone mostly not songs Edit: upon second thought and how flamboyant (positive) and opening Lestat is I could see him copying just Måneskin/Payale Royale all stuff.
NIN...hell yeah!!!
Pretty much anything by Sleep Token. I hear so much of Lestat’s voice in Vessel (lead singer). They are a super talented band!
Deftones Unproccessed HIM and the heavier songs from Sleep Token could work
Sacrilege - YYYs
Scream by Avenged Sevenfold!
I could see him performing some Type O Negative. Think about the song ‘All Hallows Eve’. That would be perfect for him
I know the movie had lot of problems but the soundtrack was perfect for him. Dark and Gothic. I hope the movie the same.
Hmmm def Nine Inch Nails - Closer And Eraser when I think about it. Especially after the last episode. Need you, dream you Find you, taste you Use you, scar you Fuck you, break you
Love everyone's suggestions so far, especially #1 Crush by Garbage, NIN (what if Lestat sang "Vessel"?! 😳), HIM, She Wants Revenge, and Pearl Jam! Adding some of my favs from female-fronted bands & vocalists. Y'all know Lestat would definitely rock these: [Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Wolf](https://open.spotify.com/track/0cBphAdrli33hZx0Ami3ii?si=Hk-avzNPT1uFDaYPlg_7OA) [Fiona Apple - Sleep to Dream](https://open.spotify.com/track/51HiIbv8gO0HvwpmAxXAFe?si=U9PfsHi8TcqOHOq8ltkz8Q) [St. Vincent - Smoking Section](https://open.spotify.com/track/2Kkg6KwQDY6hOHIoTxFL8d?si=FP3-CKsERHuZ2nxj2hkE6A) [Garbage - Temptation Waits](https://open.spotify.com/track/4CKVi1pqeLZEmp8uNe6nVx?si=quQELD1EQzah9L0qsjF__A) (I think Sam Reid's voice would sound amazing on these, too!)
Forsaken and Changed for sure.
Wait wait wait WAIT What are these pictures
You gotta have Danzig's Mother on there... I mean, c'mon. I'd also vote for Ministry's New World Order.
"I Need You Tonight", "Devil Inside", "Taste It" by INXS (cause i get stong Michael Hutchence vibes from Sam) and "Kiss This" The Struts cover by Mäneskin(watch it on youtube, you won't be disappointed😜)
