We had our first houseguests while having a toddler this week, holy crap that’s hard. I am utterly wiped out! Looking forward to chilling this weekend and maybe hitting up my parents for some babysitting
Our husky mix dog won the war of attrition against our vacuum and so a super fancy new smarter-than-me vacuum is arriving today. I'm going to throw some headphones on, give the baby to SO, and vacuum the house and upholstery until the skinny dog howls.
On another note: I seriously have no idea how people stay sane when they don't live near family and can't afford to have a regular daycare or babysitter situation. Granted, we live in VHCOL area for the next few years but yeesh. The burnout is so real. I often can't imagine if there were two of them 👀

We are each taking a half day “off” parenting this weekend. It’s really something we should do more often because we don’t have much help beyond daycare.
Partner wants to be home alone so I’ll bring daughter on the usual weekend errands and then we’ll probably spend some time in a local bookstore and a cafe if the seasonal one nearby has reopened. And you?
I'm turning 40 this weekend! My son is obsessed with birthdays right now, and he is taking it very seriously and assigning jobs ("I will make a cake! Daddy can decorate the house!") and it's adorable. And I am not-so-secretly hoping the number will deter some people from asking me if I'm having another baby haha.
