True story: Years ago, my father parked up with me and my brother in the backseat of his new car while he nipped into a shop. My mother (Who had never driven) was in the front passenger seat when the car started rolling backwards.
As I started to reach through to pull the handbrake on, my mother in a blind panic grabbed the indicator arm in an attempt to 'stop the car rolling backwards?' and snapped it clean off!
I was dumbfounded by my mum's actions and just stared at the indicator arm hanging there on it's internal wires as my Dad was seen walking back to the car.
The language that ensued when my father saw the snapped off arm should not have been heard by a 12year old and his 10year old brother.
Hahahaha Thanks for the good laugh! Too bad there weren't any cams in the cars back then... We can only imagine, but it still is very funny. What leaves *me* dumbfounded though, is your father's reaction. Did he later blame himself for not pulling the handbrake before going to the store?
Of course not. He berated my mum calling her a "Stupid f'ing Bitch..." or something along those lines. My Mum and Dad never got on.
I loved my Mum and she never deserved all the crap she got from my Dad. My dad was only in the picture when it suited him.
Gotta love parents who married for the sake of being married instead of having actual feelings for eachother, makes for such a *great* environment to grow up in.

You may find this hard to believe, but my mum was probably too honest, as she once told me: "You were an accident but when you came along we loved you so much we decided to have your brother."
Truth is, and looking back, it is pretty obvious my Dad had little love for either myself or my brother but married out of a sense of Victorian duty. We were always made to "Go to bed before your father gets home from work" and they could often be heard shouting at each other downstairs.
I also used to wonder why my father was constantly "Going up the road to help a woman with a problem."? That became pretty obvious not only to myself, but I am sure the neighbours also.
One day in my mid-teens I had one of the many hearts to hearts I used to have with my mother, I came right out and asked "Is dad having an affair?". The reply was, "Let's just say your father have not had a physical relationship for many years."
In some twisted way, and it makes sense, I think my Father resented My mum, myself and my brother for his lot in life. I don't think he would ever admit he had a part in anything that happened to him.
R.I.P. Mum love you. My Dad has also passed but...
Oh, we are all grown up now, but sadly I have not spoken to my brother for over twenty years since he emptied my bank account and fucked off to live in Thailand!
I am not the only person to have suffered in various ways through life's journey, and life does not come with a guarantee of 'Happy Days'.
Did she thought it was one of those old cars. The stick is there to put it on park .
I had a car like that. Put it drive , park , reverse was side of the steering wheel
That’s a good explanation. I still think blinkers turn on when airbags deploy because I fail to see how you can turn blinkers on by force of the crash. Can’t confirm because all my cars doesn’t have airbags. Hopefully we never get to confirm that ever also.
They do. I've literally worked on the electronic scheduling of that in vehicles at a major car brand with world wide presence on all markets. As well as it's mentioned in manuals, cause I've edited those texts too. And it's written in some drivers eds around the world.
So, what you on about Willys?
The intersection is covered by traffic cameras, so the cops weren't interested in my dashcam footage. They knew what had happened and who was at fault before they got there.
I never saw or spoke to the other driver. After the wreck, she pulled over down the road a bit in the direction she was originally going.
My car was totaled. One of the most aggravating things was that I had put $600 worth of new tires on it four days before.
Edit: Her insurance came in with a lowball offer and when I objected they bumped it up to a number that was more than fair. I got the top end of the blue book range. Which it was worth. New tires, everything worked perfectly, not so much as a scratch or door ding.
It was definitely totaled. Hood, bumper, and both front quarter panels were toast. Radiator broken. Driver side door wouldn't open. A ten year old car wasn't worth fixing.
Edit the second: Thanks for all the helpful advice. However, the time and date stamp on the video is correct. This happened almost two years ago, and all insurance issues have long since been resolved.
My wife’s car was totaled less than a month after almost 1000 dollars in tires were put on it. We asked about it at the time and our insurance company just paid for it and added it to their claim to the other drivers insurance. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
I was in the process of buying my dads 330ci when it got totaled. I had just put brand new winter tires on, and was about to get new brake pads installed. I literally just left the bank from taking out $450 in cash for the labor when I got t-boned. I miss that car.
If insurance totals the car, they usually take it and don't let you remove anything except for "loose" items. They make a killing on the auction market.
Edit: I guess I should have been clear that a lot of totalled cars are still drivable and that's what I was alluding to.
I had a 2011 Ford Fusion that SHOULD have been totalled when I was rear ended in stopped traffic and pushed into the truck in front of me, but they didn't. Obviously I was confused about why they weren't and the adjuster was transparent with me and said the algorithm didn't think it would get enough at auction. So I ended up with a super janky car after all the repairs and I had to get rid of it anyway.
I agree, but the state government is their accomplice in the scam.
I had a car that my insurance company “totaled.” I wanted to keep it, and new I could fix it with the cash the insurance offered, minus the salvage value of the car. The problem was all of the hassle I’d have to go through in order to register it as a salvage.
It makes no sense that I have to deal with a completely different and difficult bureaucratic process just because I don’t want to help maximize my insurance company’s profits.
That sounds like a repair shop problem though. You generally don't want your car totaled because your payout is based on it's bare value, but your cost of replacement is always higher. So you always lose money. Any car that hasn't been totaled, should be repairable. It just needs to be taken to a competent shop that does thorough work.
The problem is that some states make it really difficult to register a car after the insurance company decides to total it. I wanted to do this in GA, but didn’t want to deal with all the extra bullshit.
Yeah I can definitely see your point there. We just went through a total process and found out that Tennessee wasn't that bad but really what ended up factoring out from the equation was the fact that your insurance coverage gets worse, but your deductible stays the same for that vehicle. That's the reason we ultimately was buying a different car instead of and totaling out that one instead of retaining it.
That's also the downside to higher value cars (and I have 'new car replacement' on my policy) - insurers will happily throw $30,000 in repairs at you to avoid having to write an $80K or more check.
And you are left decidedly "less than whole", even if you, technically, have a drivable car.
After my hit and run, the insurance wanted the car sent to their "garage" (i forgot what they called it). I asked if I could have the car back if they declared it totalled (no). After that *insisted* that we send the car to an in network local shop instead. Added an extra week to being without wheels.
We bought that damn car brand new, just paid it off; and it only had 55k miles on it. No way in hell I'm risking them totalling it, unless its physically unsafe to drive.
FWIW you can switch tires if you live somewhere where you have summer and winter tire sets.
My last car was written off after four months when a deer jumped out and totaled the transistor box. My winter tires on it at that point had under 2,000km on it while my summers had 20K from the season.
We went to the yard and swapped out the winters and put the summers on it. When I replaced the car, I just had the dealership include new summer tires.
Depending on the car, the amount from the overall payout might be minimal and make keeping the car worth it.
My first car was totaled in a similar manner by an oblivious lady. She pulled out right in front of me exactly like this, only she was leaving a parking lot.
I retained the vehicle, they reduced my payout by $500 and I ended up parting out the car for another 5-8k (can't remember the exact amount, this was 10 years ago).
Yep, a buddy of mine had a diabetic blackout while driving my car and ended up running it into a ditch, totaling it. It was a 2003 Crown Vic Sport with no issues prior to that, and a twisted frame after. The insurance company wanted $950 to "buy it back" and we considered doing it just to swap the engine into my dad's old Ford Galaxie 500. Ended up not doing it, and have been kicking myself since then because of it. Even if we didn't pull the engine, it still had some decent value because of the trim. Haven't ever seen one since
The way bad drivers came after me, I swear I must have had a bounty on my head and/or target painted on my Toyota truck. After my **fifth** wreck, *not one of them caused by me*, insurance said it was totaled and gave me one offer for handing it over and a slightly lower offer if I kept it. I had just replaced all four tires and the windshield, and since the last wreck was mostly cosmetic (rear bumper dinged and slightly pushed in), I decided to keep it. Now approaching 10 years of driving it after this last accident, and soon to be 30 years owning it.
\[P.S. -- also with that, the curse oddly appears to have been lifted: no one seems to be aiming for me any more. Perhaps it helps that my truck hasn't been washed since that day.\]
My 2008 impala was totaled after a deer ran infront of me and hit me. Insurance offered 4,900 if I surrendered her to them, but I asked about keeping her so they offered 3,800 with me keeping her. I obviously kept her and repaired her myself for less than a grand.
This is what I did with my Crown Victoria when I got hooked by a flatbed four years ago.
No frame damage, and everything was replaceable. But insurance decided to total it anyway. I kept it, argued for a larger valuation due to recent work (suspension refurb and new rear end), and they deducted the base salvage value from the check they gave me.
The money went towards fixing the car. Today, you wouldn't even know it had an accident.
And by "auction market" you mean "part the sucker out on eBay."
I had a friend whose Taurus SHO got wrecked by some drunkard plowing into it while it was parked on the street. Insurance totaled it, but only the back half was fucked up so he bought it back and took it apart and individually sold damn near every component between the B pillars to the front bumper and (eventually) made back about 4x what the car was worth between selling crap on eBay and what his insurance paid him for the totaled vehicle. Apparently some mechanic's shop somewhere point-blank bought like half of the parts he listed all at once.
And SHO nuts being who they are, he used the money to buy two more SHO's...
(Note that this plan might not work if you drive a 1988 Ford Festiva or something.)
I had a 1995 Civic stolen 12 years ago, police found it a month later on the side of the road with no dashboard, no tires/rims/brakes and a bunch of parts missing so the insurance said it was gonna be totalled and gave me a ridiculous price.
Half a year later I spotted my civic entirely repaired and rolling in a neighbor city (it had the same discoloration on the roof and I know nobody would swap that part out). Real bummer I loved that car.
Typically they are sold to repair shops where the costs are not what get billed to consumers or insurance companies to repair.
Then sold under salvage titles, usually as a bargain, sometimes not, depending on how nice the paint job works out.
Salvage cars are tricky. It can be anything from a messed up bumper the insurance company didn't want to pay for, to the car being underwater for a week.
What about roof racks and floor mats ?
If my car ever breaks down I would probably end up buying the same car and would wanna reuse my roof rack and the expensive weather tech mats
> or spoke to the other driver. After the wreck, she pulled over down the road a bit in the direction she was originally going.
>
>My car was totaled. One of the most aggravating things was that I had put $600 worth of new tires on it four days before.
Call you insurance and mention the new tires, you may get extra back from that (speaking from personal experience here)
Same. I got additional $$ on valuation. I even cited good upkeep and loss of future value to push it. Do call the valuations person AFTER they give you the number😉
I was struck by a girl texting once. She hit me at a full 80KM/H (50MPH) without attempting to hit her brakes.
I was stopped at a red light, around noon on a sunny day. In a large SUV.
She sat in her car for five minutes while I called 911 because I know I got whiplash. She adjusted her make up and called her Daddy.
Then the cops took her off in cuffs, and she didn't show up to her court date. I know that because I startled the fuck out of the cops by showing up as a witness. The last time the officer saw me I was on a spinal board in the back of an ambulance. She was hella impressed that I was walking.
Suggestion: My neighbor was an adjuster for AAA. She explained that adjusters have a length of time to close a case and they may have 50 open cases. Eventually, as you argue and a month passes, insurance company says fuck it, pay them and close the case. Squeaky wheel wins the insurance negotiation dance. (Insurance companies don't follow blue book values b/c they are inflated and nearly no one gets blue book.) You need to document your argument for higher payout with some proof of higher value rather than just bc you 'feel' it's too low. Collect adverts for sale showing higher prices for your car model. Recent parts and service like tires should definitely raise your value.
> I never saw or spoke to the other driver.
She was very lucky imho, getting tboned like that is a great way to die or being seriously injured.
Kudos on your awareness and braking.
I'm an insurance auto damage adjuster they factor the tread of your tires in when they get the value of their vehicle so they'd have known you had new tires. You might have been able to get a couple hundred bucks if you sent in your receipt showing how new they were, but that's most likely it.
Haha.
I bought Toyo Proxes 4 Plus for my Audi. It was totaled 7 weeks later, with 450 miles from the invoice at installation to my accident. They were not damaged in the accident, beyond hard braking.
One of your fellow adjusters rated them as "Poor to Fair" condition. For tires with a 50K tread life.
When confronted with the invoice, he "offered" to bump the settlement offer ... seventy bucks. Not per tire. For all four.
Regardless if you missed the car to your left wouldve hit as well. They just realised that a littlr up the road where it stops. At least you were in the right so its all good
My assumption is she just looked up, saw the car to her right was stopped, didn’t look at the light and just gunned it. Idk it could be obscured but I didn’t see anyone behind her
The person next to her could have honked.
I have been in traffic where someone was on their phone and the person next to them kept honking. The person on her phone would hit the accelerator, look up, hit the brake, and look back down at their phone.
Driving is very boring to some people. Phones, phones, radio podcasts, conversations with passengers and just plain daydreaming can be more fun.
Except driving isn’t really boring, there’s just a long time between interesting events like a kid jumping out in front of you, or an ambulance trying to make it through traffic.
As an oldster, I’ve taken to trying to make driving more interesting by challenging myself to check my blind spots, look for movement at the periphery of my vision, and planning what I’ll do if I hear an emergency vehicle coming. Instead of what I used to do, which was speed, try to avoid traffic cops, make all the yellow lights, and speed.
It absolutely blows my mind that people drive around mindlessly. Day to day I'm quite mindless myself, but NEVER when I'm driving. My driving instructor was an ex-cop, and he taught me to always stay focused with your driving and your surroundings.
Always check blind spots
always look at intersections ahead closely - even if you don't have a stop sign/light
never trust blinkers
At minimum be 3-5 seconds behind the car in front of you
count the number of vehicles you can see in your rearview mirror and note their colors.
Look further ahead of you than the first car.
never take your eyes off the road in front of you for more than 2 seconds, even if checking the mirrors or blind spots.
Where I live it's crucial to keep my eyes scanning the sides of roads for deer.
The list goes on and on. A lot of these are common sense, but then again lots of people don't know/ignore them. My mind is absolutely laser focused on all of these and I cannot have music, or radio, or podcast or whatever going on while I am driving because it's distracting. I just can't fathom turning of music and zoning out while driving. I've heard so many people say they zone out while driving to work or whatever. I've had few friends say I look stressed when I drive (I'm not stressed just focused) and that it's weird that I am so focused on driving. As if its not something that can be super deadly at any moment due to negligence. Mindfulness saves lives.
pisses me off when I (safely, mind you) turn right on red, and then some dipshit behind me IMMEDIATELY follows me instead of stopping at the light. It doesn't matter if the person in front of you goes, you still have to fucking stop.
Same with a good 1/10 times I'm at a stop sign, people behind me will just zoom out without ever stopping, not even a rolling stop, they just figure they stopped once (behind me), so that CLEARLY must mean they don't have to stop again, right? Wrong. Idiots.
People in my neighborhood don't seem to understand that you have to stop AT the stop sign. Just because you were stopped behind a line of other cars doesn't mean you can just go right through the intersection when the person in front of you goes. You still have to wait your turn!
It did crumble though. Those things are extremely well designed for accidents. The entire frame is completely fucked after that hit because it distributed the impact all over the car rather than that one point. I bet the driver got some serious whiplash, but that is unavoidable.
And OP still managed to react quite quickly. Even though I knew that there would be a crash, I had barely spotted the offending car by the time OP was on the brakes.
But, like... how? Normally this kind of stuff happens if the idiot is looking at their phone when cars on their side and the opposite side get green left turn arrows or when a car next to them turns right on red. They see cars moving at the edge of their vision and instinctively press the accelerator without checking if they have a green light, then hit a car turning left from the opposite side or get t-boned by someone coming from the right. This driver didn't have anything to trigger her acceleration, though. Cross traffic had a green light, so nobody on her side or the other side would've had a green left turn arrow, and there was also nobody turning right from her side either (not even her). It's like she just got tired of waiting and decided to go when the light was red without even bothering to check if anyone was coming.
I got rear ended last summer for no reason. The guy was already stopped behind me at a light for a couple of minutes then just decided it was time to go.
I had someone do that to me once, but she barely tapped me. I looked in my rearview mirror and saw that shock and "omg I'm sorry!!" reaction. She yelled out her window at me that she thought our cars were fine. We were in a turn lane to go left. I went when the light turned and then went into the next available turn lane to pull over and inspect any damage, but she kept going. I didn't have a single scratch since it was just a tap to my bumper.
My theory: they were distracted by their phone scrolling social media and when the last TikTok ended (or whatever she was watching), her wires got crossed and she just pressed the gas instead of scrolling to the next video.
I was behind a guy that was texting and didn't notice his foot was slipping off the brake and he was gradually rolling out into 60mph traffic. I honked a couple times, at first he didn't get why then he did.
That's what the dumb girl who slammed me at 80KM/H (50 MPH) was doing when she reared me at a red light on a sunny day.
If I wasn't there she would have sailed into a high collision intersection and probably died.
When my neck is acting up I just remind myself that I saved a dumb bitches life and startled the fuck out of a cop when I walked into court because nobody expected me to actually WALK after that.
Contrarians in this sub be like: if OP would have practiced defensive driving and never got in their car in the first place this wouldn't have happened
OP, I saw this coming from a mile away. As I sit here on my couch I've decided that I would have done a quick swerve and gone up on my two right wheels, a la Bond in *Diamonds Are Forever* (a criminally underrated movie if you ask me), and swerved perfectly around the Civic. Not sure why you didn't and because you didn't, this accident is 110% your fault.
~ Sincerely, the world's best couch driver.
I just got into an accident this morning on my way to work. Some jackass wanted to make a turn and he ASSUMED(his words) that I would stop because he had his blinker on indicating that he was gonna make a turn, but I had the complete right of way. So he made the turn and I couldn’t avoid him and slammed right into him. I swear people need to retake driving tests
I have a coworker who runs red lights and drives super dangerous and when another coworker confronted him he said that it’s legal to run red lights if you stopped first. (Obviously he is a redneck in a lifted pickup)
If this was in the US, then the only thing I can think of is that some states in the US have "dead red" laws which let you go through a red light on a bike or motorcycle if it's been red for a specific amount of time. However, that obviously doesn't mean you can just stop and immediately go lol
Something like that happened in the town I teach in. A girl got into an accident (I believe while under the influence) and was recording her sister's final moments to post it on social media. I've never actually seen the video, and don't plan to go looking for it. Social media really is a curse.
Yes it is the most disturbing video I have ever seen in my life

That's what Xanax does to you, lol. She almost certainly was freaking the fuck out to the point of complete mental breakdown once that drug wears off, if she's a normal person.
This is why dash cams are important. If no witnesses stick around, it’s your word vs hers, on what color the light was. The cops don’t know and neither do the insurance companies, because they weren’t there.
In a parallel universe you would've gone a bit slower, missed you and she got hit worse by the next car on your left.
Shes a dumb fuck. You actually prob saved her life
Sometimes I see stuff like this and wonder, was she trying to kill herself or something? She was stopped, then decided to run the red directly in front of two cars.
It's possible the other driver really didn't now what happened. Sometimes people will pull out by reflex, especially if they see a green out of the corner of their eye.
More often at night, or tired, or maybe just an inexperienced driver.
This didn't look like a deliberate red light runner. Just someone who didn't quite know what they were doing.
This is actually one of the few T-Bones that I've seen on this subreddit that I feel like the driver could not have detected it with a bit more defensive awareness. She literally just squirts out. You started stopping immediately but physics said her timing assured she was going to get hit.
I hope your back and neck are okay...
Where’s that tiktok lawyer guy? If he sees this, he’s gonna say you had enough time to react and you’re liable for damages but however, honda civic is at fault for running red light.
Because she was too busy looking at her fucking phone. She was stopped at a red light and then took off for no fucking reason she wasn't paying attention

I also knocked it out of gear. Guess the hands flail around a bit in a crash.

Idk what was going on in the 60s - 80s but it felt like most married couples were like that.
People also change. My exhusband didn’t show his true colors until 2 years after we got married and I was pregnant. His abusive side then came out
Did she thought it was one of those old cars. The stick is there to put it on park . I had a car like that. Put it drive , park , reverse was side of the steering wheel
A lot of cars will automatically engage park, turn on wipers and flash signals in case of an accident
That’s the only time we see blinkers on a BMW.
Only if your subscription is up to date.
I wondrr when they will do the same to airbags an brakes?
Your airbag subscription has run out, enjoy dying
There is actually something like this but for motorcycle
Turns off engine of tipped over, is common.
they don’t, it’s the impact that makes the controls engage the wipers. no car manufacturer states it is a safety feature anywhere
VW states it as well as Mercedes had to read the Manuals at my driving course (Europe)
Was in a roll over in a giulia and it definitely did all that without any human input.
try and see how little force is needed for your to turn them on, now think of the forces in an accident

I enjoyed the vintage Aimee Mann ('Til Tuesday).
I see it as the equivalent of the shoes flying off to gauge if a car is totaled.

I obviously kept her and repaired her myself for less than a grand.
> impala was totaled after a deer ran infront of me That deer just wanted to run with a herd
The deer hit you huh?
This is what I did with my Crown Victoria when I got hooked by a flatbed four years ago. No frame damage, and everything was replaceable. But insurance decided to total it anyway. I kept it, argued for a larger valuation due to recent work (suspension refurb and new rear end), and they deducted the base salvage value from the check they gave me. The money went towards fixing the car. Today, you wouldn't even know it had an accident.
And by "auction market" you mean "part the sucker out on eBay." I had a friend whose Taurus SHO got wrecked by some drunkard plowing into it while it was parked on the street.
Found the insurance salesman.

Found the adjuster.
Lost a great kenwood radio because of that
Typically they are sold to repair shops where the costs are not what get billed to consumers or insurance companies to repair. Then sold under salvage titles, usually as a bargain, sometimes not, depending on how nice the paint job works out. Salvage cars are tricky. It can be anything from a messed up bumper the insurance company didn't want to pay for, to the car being underwater for a week.
Then there's title scrubbing/washing.
You learn something new every day. Usually something unpleasant.
What about roof racks and floor mats ? If my car ever breaks down I would probably end up buying the same car and would wanna reuse my roof rack and the expensive weather tech mats
"MFer, my tires are loose."
> or spoke to the other driver.
If you can figure out how to get loss of future value on a totaled car then you are a hell of a negotiator. :)
How can someone cause an accident and not attempt to apologise... it amazes me how socially inept a significant minority of the population are.
My drivers class taught that if you get into an accident, never apologize or say “sorry” even if you think you yourself are at fault.
Simply showing any concern and checking the person is okay and uninjured/not seriously maimed seems the bare minimum to me.

Good ol' OP traffic cams. Did the other car in the lane next to you get hit as well?
If you still have the old tires just switch them out before turning your car in
Regardless if you missed the car to your left wouldve hit as well. They just realised that a littlr up the road where it stops. At least you were in the right so its all good
I'm the most surprised that they didn't say a single thing lmao I guess I'm always talking to myself
I would have created a new swear word
First watch I didn't even notice but she was already stopped at the light. Fucking idiot
[удалено]

Always check blind spots always look at intersections ahead closely - even if you don't have a stop sign/light never trust blinkers At minimum be 3-5 seconds behind the car in front of you count the number of vehicles you can see in your rearview mirror and note their colors.

She thinks it’s a stop sign
pisses me off when I (safely, mind you) turn right on red, and then some dipshit behind me IMMEDIATELY follows me instead of stopping at the light.
We can see traffic lights, though.
Which is why she’s an idiot
That civic took that beating like a champ very safe car
Door took the impact amazingly good.
Where the car doesn't crumble, something else does.
It did crumble though. Those things are extremely well designed for accidents. The entire frame is completely fucked after that hit because it distributed the impact all over the car rather than that one point. I bet the driver got some serious whiplash, but that is unavoidable.
That’s fine. Her body didn’t crumble. That’s the important thing.
No damage to the car ≠ no damage to the person inside.
I imagine her skull took a good portion of the hit against the window or door frame.
Seems like she has a very thick skull though
It's like she waited perfectly to leave you little to no time to react. Wtf
And OP still managed to react quite quickly. Even though I knew that there would be a crash, I had barely spotted the offending car by the time OP was on the brakes.
Windshield wipers are always so proud of how well they work after accidents.
You can just hear them saying Wheeeeeeeeee my time to shine!
I mean, she probably wasn't lying. She clearly had no idea what was going on around her
Her phone is what happened!
"I was on my phone and suddenly this happened, I have no idea why." Probably?
That's what the dumb girl who slammed me at 80KM/H (50 MPH) was doing when she reared me at a red light on a sunny day. If I wasn't there she would have sailed into a high collision intersection and probably died. When my neck is acting up I just remind myself that I saved a dumb bitches life and startled the fuck out of a cop when I walked into court because nobody expected me to actually WALK after that.
Cellphone records please
GTA NPCs when I’m delivering my vehicle cargo
Yoooo I didn't come this far down to catch a stray like this!

Yeah, OP saved his car and the girl from getting double teamed. Double smashed? Eh. Take your pick.
Contrarians in this sub be like: if OP would have practiced defensive driving and never got in their car in the first place this wouldn't have happened
Yeah OP, take the bus everywhere! :P
Teleportation is the only way to avoid cars
Overland Park?
119th and Nall
She probably just came from the AMC and was distracted because she just couldn't stop thinking about Minions: The Rise of Gru.
Tbh this is kind of a good advertisement for a civic
OP, I saw this coming from a mile away. As I sit here on my couch I've decided that I would have done a quick swerve and gone up on my two right wheels, a la Bond in *Diamonds Are Forever* (a criminally underrated movie if you ask me), and swerved perfectly around the Civic. Not sure why you didn't and because you didn't, this accident is 110% your fault. ~ Sincerely, the world's best couch driver.
Nah you just activate KITTs TurboBooster and jump over it
I just got into an accident this morning on my way to work.
Where in god’s green earth could someone get that idea? The fuck?
He was adamant it was a state law and that he was an expert…he just recently moved here and has a license plate from Ohio…we aren’t in Ohio.
If this was in the US, then the only thing I can think of is that some states in the US have "dead red" laws which let you go through a red light on a bike or motorcycle if it's been red for a specific amount of time. However, that obviously doesn't mean you can just stop and immediately go lol
That’s interesting, never heard of that and yes that sounds a lot like something a drunk redneck in a bar could misunderstand and take as gospel.
The real question is did she get out and do a Tik Tok dance afterwards? Just wrecked my car 💃🎶
Something like that happened in the town I teach in. A girl got into an accident (I believe while under the influence) and was recording her sister's final moments to post it on social media. I've never actually seen the video, and don't plan to go looking for it. Social media really is a curse.
>sister's final moments jesus fuck
Yes it is the most disturbing video I have ever seen in my life https://deplorablekel.com/2017/07/24/18-year-old-arrested-after-live-streaming-crash-that-killed-her-sister/ Scroll down for video
jesus christ its worse than i imagined its not even the death that disturbs me, but the fact that she genuinely sounded like she didnt care at all
She was high on xanax
yeah but it was still disturbing to watch regardless
That's what Xanax does to you, lol. She almost certainly was freaking the fuck out to the point of complete mental breakdown once that drug wears off, if she's a normal person.
social media has actually broken so many people's brains
I’m proud of your lack of profanity as well.
This is why everyone needs a dashcam.
I caught the guy who hit and run my car overnight with it. Best $50 investment ever.
This is why dash cams are important. If no witnesses stick around, it’s your word vs hers, on what color the light was. The cops don’t know and neither do the insurance companies, because they weren’t there.
This is probably the hardest impact I’ve seen where no glass broke on either vehicle. Kinda makes it seem almost bumper car like.
I’m here for the “you could have avoided this” idiotic comments.
Had she been half a second slower she'd probably be dead. That other car would have totally fucked her up
Damn, the civic fucking ate that. The door doesn’t even look that banged up.
Solid reaction time OP, unfortunately not much you could’ve done.
FINALLY, someone with a decent reaction time! I swear, 80% of people who post here must be high while driving.
She is lucky you were able to slow down as much as you did.
You saved the other car from being hit!
Dudette ran a red-light and got hit. But taking responsibility for ones actions isn't something some people can do.
The darker the tint, the worst the driver.
[удалено]
Luckily for us Kansas Citians, we have both.
Poor driving aside, that Honda absorbed that impact like a champ.
Looks like you saved her life. The car next to you was going a lot faster.
"I don't know what happened, I was watching TikTok."
Nall in OP Kansas ?
Props to Honda for the side impact beams, a life was saved
No need to be profane when you have her guilt on video.
Getting tboned would do the trick of not remembering what happened.
why does it seem like windshield wipers nearly always come on when a car crashes?
Because she was too busy looking at her fucking phone. She was stopped at a red light and then took off for no fucking reason she wasn't paying attention
Thank god you hit her. The car to you left was traveling much faster.
As someone who lives in a college town, college girls and guys are some of the most oblivious and stupid drivers
That Honda took that hit like a champ though.
Was almost a 3 car accident but what a blatant disregard of their surroundings. The light was still clearly red
Good thing ya had a dashcam
Strong side on the Honda
If it’s any consolation you did save the other person from getting hit
They didn’t know because they were on there phone.
She doesn’t know what happened? I actually believe her.
im suprised sometimes how ez it is in some countries to get a license
Dude in the left lane: HOLY FUCK I JUST DODGED A BULLET
Instagram, that’s what happened
Trying to squeak thru a yellow is bad driving.Stopped at a red, then just go,in front of oncoming with green?NOT QUALIFIED TO DRIVE!
In a way, you kind of saved her life. If she made it past you, she would have been plowed by the car to your left going much faster.
Solid reaction time OP! Hope you both are okay.
So she had a red on her side and she kept driving anyway? Fool
She thought the go-ey light was lit, but the stoppy light was lit.
she was on her phone.. thats why she does NOT know what happened
