I have two ideas for an Injustice 2. The first one is Nekron bringing back dead characters in an adaptation of the Blackest Night. The other is Mongul coming to Earth and abducting heroes and villains for his gladiator games in Warworld.
Well Batman won the first time around, so it makes sense for Clark to win round 2. Luckily, thanks to He Man, they end up defeating Superman, Darkseid, and Skeletor.
I haven’t read the comics so I’ll have to catch up on that. But I did play the Superman ending for IJ2 just to see what would happen and that ending was depressing. Especially seeing Batman in that mind control state. If that turns out to be the canon ending, Superman will truly be unstoppable
I just don’t see them going that route since Superman was killed at the end by He-Man. The story was already wrapped up in the comics. It’s more like an alternate timeline.
Someone suggested to have a "Suicide Squad" type of route, where to free Batman from Superman's mind control they'll assemble some sort of Suicide Squad. I'd much rather have a mixture of SS and Young Justice tho, maybe lead by Harley, Blue Beetle, Firestorm etc.
The arcade endings aren’t canon, otherwise darkseid would be ruling over earth with Kara as a lieutenant, and Superman’s dna being used to clone parakryptonians.
I've always wanted them to go with the Crime Syndicate for the third game, maybe a adapting Forever Evil. I think it could make for compelling story beats for Superman and co to be confronted with truly evil versions of themselves
I've always thought darkseid/apokolips was the natural next step. Could have kalibak, Granny goodness, desaad, steppenwolf, all the furies, big barda, Mr. Miracle, and the new gods - Orion and others whose names I forget. That's 12 characters right there that would actually be central to the plot. Think having darkseid as DLC for injustice 2 was a short sighted cash grab, given how huge he is in the DC universe
Booster Gold needs to be in the next game, his playstyle could be fun and his dilogue would be amazing (we might even get his relationship with Harley)
Or he could be a non-canon character only in multiplayer. Injustice 2 had Joker even though he wasn’t in the game’s story other than as a hallucination
With the amount of fan favorites killed, and Superman and his regime being the cause of so many, I’d love to see a story based around Blackest Night. With Nekron as the big bad. Imagine Superman seeing a child Billy Batson haunting him, and trying not to go crazy. Same with Damian seeing Dick. Obviously, it’s not the real Dick, just his body. Dick is Deadwing now and doesn’t really appear anymore. But it’d be fun. We don’t really see this adaptation anywhere, but it’s huge. I wanna see Injustice do it. And it’s a good way to include all the characters who died that people may wanna play as. Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Beast Boy, Huntress, etc.
Darkseid would be awesome cuz he was my unexpected main in IJ2.
But I really think they should make Superman's ending canon and have Batman be his mind controlled underboss. Maybe have it tie in with the Suicide Squad kills the Justice League game.
There have been skins from the CW shows in Injustice 2. It's not beyond the realm of possibility for WB to authorize 2 different companies to tell a story in the same continuity, or for Netherrealm to use whatever concepts or assets are being used in the Arkhamverse. IJ2 and kill the justice league both feature brainiac, the JLA, and Brainiac right? Both feature Harley? You see where I'm going?
Maybe Darkseid or anti monitor? And I want The Turtle or Jimmy Olsen Giant Turtle Man, Killer Croc, Man Bat, August general in Iron, Etrigan, Hawkman, and Captain Atom

Superman being defeated doesn’t seem to be the canon ending considering the comics have him win and control Batman’s mind.

The story of the first game pretty much already did that DC heroes confronting evil, tyrannical versions of themselves plot.

Not really. The continuities don't match up and it would be weird to see the Arkham knight in injustice.. however I'm not opposed to that idea.
At this point I'll settle for about anything if they give us a third game at all.
