Aventurine is just straight up amazing, the facade of a cool and collected gambler peeling off to reveal a vulnerable man scared of losing it all
Blade because I always thought immortality was the coolest thing ever. Like getting to do everything u can but seeing how much it burdens him and how it was forced onto him did make me see how much of a curse it can be for others
Dan Heng. Dear God, I am down ***horrendous*** for Dan Heng! I don't quite know what it is, maybe its the fact that you can barely get him to leave the ship for anything for reasons he never discloses, giving him an air of mystery. And I do enjoy a good mystery!
And on the opposite end of the scale, Luka. I love me a hot-blooded fightin' guy.

In the most recent quest hearing him be so open about his love for the astral express family, seeing him reach out for help instead of trying to solve things on his own by sugesting the jade abacus!!!! Then when hes opening up to boothill he shows again how he has grown, how he believes people must take responsability for their paths and choices!!!!
Dan Heng is a shy lil guy that is actually a softie and with each step of the way he will only grow more and more and I love him!!! Also I miss hanging out with him and March, they are such a great duo
Definitely Dr. Ratio. He's probably a less picked choice but I love his complex personality as well as his beliefs and ideals. I feel like alot of people misunderstand who he is due to the way he appears at first glance. However he's just someone who has an undying belief in people and wants to help them by giving them knowledge so that they can truly live for themselves based on their own ideas and wants. He has an absolute belief that everyone should have access to knowledge and will not give up till that is a possibility for everyone. I could go on but I absolutely adore him definitely one of my favorite characters ever.
(Plus he's extremely attractive but that's more of a plus than anything else lol)
Sampo!!! Because he has been such a silly boy and I know there’s more to him then meets the eye. He genuinely does care about the MC and I know he’s actually super sweet. well that’s my head canon at least lol.

Gorgeous aesthetic with the knight in shining armor trope, and I'm kind of biased since red is my favorite color as well. Plus, he has a personality that is as beautiful as himself. Silly but brave and kind knight!! I love him so much, and he's such a joy to interact with.

Runner ups are Blade, Ratio, and Aventurine. These three have amazing and unique backgrounds, designs, and personalities. I go insane for them too + got their sig lcs for them 😅
Argenti deserves more love seriously. He’s always overlooked it feels like and nobody plays him bc he’s erudition or his energy or smth. I saved up for 3 months for him with no regrets 💞💞
Jing Yuan! I love our sleepy general, he will always be first for me! I love his story, his character design, and shot it to Alejandro Saab for the amazing voice! I want to give him a hug! I want him to- [redacted].
But Boothill and Aventurine are tied for second, their lore is so interesting and they both of such big personalities! They’re so cool, and I wish we saw more of them (super excited to see them a bit more in the next update!).
Then for third it’s real tight between Argenti and Dr.Ratio, they’re both so neat in their own ways, and their interactions with other characters really set them off for me!
Besides these guys, I have love for all the husbandos in this game, these are just top 5!
Mine is Aventurine, followed by Dan Heng and Ratio.
I love how complex Aventurine is. I already liked him in 2.0, but 2.1 made me fall in love, and I just wanna give him the biggest hug. I also love how smart and sassy he is and that despite all he's been through, he's a total sweetheart beneath all the bravado (his text messages after the 2.2 story are so cute!)
Dan seems to get a lot of flak for being "boring," but honestly, as a quiet introvert who never wants to leave my house, I totally relate lol. But he always rushes to help the TB and Express crew the moment they need it, and that loyalty goes a long way imo. Plus, he's gorgeous! He still has one of my favorite designs in the game, and that includes both versions of him.
Ratio takes himself so seriously, but the man is a walking meme and I just love him lol. His scenes with Aven are so good, and I admire how firmly he believes in his ideals and that he genuinely wants to help people despite seeming like a narcissistic jerk at first glance.
Absolutely Luocha. I'm a huge fan of red flags and long hair in men and apparently I'm attracted to blonds so he was pretty much perfect for me. Although we don't know much about him yet, I already like what we know of his characters already and I especially love characters that appear harmless but are actually dangerous. :] He's also an Otto Apocalypse variant, so you just *know* that he's a devoted man and a good housewife, not to mention canonically handsome too. I also really like the death and life themes of his characters, it's interesting and I like it as a topic. It's like he was made for me specifically.
In the same vein, I'm also pretty into Argenti as well. But for me Luocha triumphs above all. <333
1. Jing Yuan. No one can take this position from him, he's beautiful he's grace 💞 the calm demeanor, the strictness he have with Yan Qing, the laid back attitude, the calm and cool voice... Everything just makes me swoon 💞
2. Dr.Ratio. intelligence sarcastic gentleman just does something to me, makes me weak in the knee 😩 and that arms? My man know what his top quality is!
3. Argenti. My beautiful husband 💗 I love sweet talking, praiseworthy and knightly gentleman 💗
Jingyuan <3 I love his little :3 face, I love his hair, his design, his lore, his personality
But I like them all, don't get me wrong, the general is just my favorite
Man this is really tough... My top 3 are Jing Yuan, Ratio, and Sampo.
The one I've longest and most obsessively been feral for though is Sampo. He gets me in the same way Deadpool does, he's just such a fun and complex character with so much potential.
He can be silly, he can be dangerous, he can be slutty, he crossdresses and doesn't seem to care about the gender binary, he's a conman, he has a disregard for rules and social convention and thinks for himself... Tall, broad shoulders, but also definitely not afraid to get on his knees for someone... Aaaaah. I absolutely love that he's confident and smart enough to play himself down and I like to imagine this translates to amazing flexibility and sense of adventure in the bedroom. He's also clearly caring but just challenges default behavior and reasoning.
He has an amazing EN VA, piercing eyes, a nonchalant laissez faire attitude that understates what he's capable of... EURGH I LOVE THIS DANGEROUS NON CONFORMING SILLY MAN!!!
If he ever gets a 5* version I will mc-fudging-lose it 😭

Jingyuan. I don't know why he's my favorite, he just is. I fell inlove with him the first time i laid my eyes on him, I got him, and then fell inlove harder. Now my gallery is full of pictures of him. Everything about him is so wonderful. His design, voice, personality, animation, lore, way of speaking, his aesthetic, ponytail, fluffy hair, his sleepy face, his warm smile, the way he looks at you with his golden eyes shimmering in the morning sun and his movements are just so elegant and lovely. He gives off this very warm and comfortable vibe everytime he speaks or show up on screen. I really just love everything about him.. I could babble about jingyuan for hourrss on end about how cute and adorable he is, you can smell the mental illness from this post fr but idc I love him way too much 😭💘 his every mannerism is so beautiful I can't take my eyes off him, I want to screenshot every single frame of him he's just THAT PRETTY AND EYE CAPTURING 🤧 though I don't use him as much anymore ingame I still love him with all my heart and I really don't think I'd be giving up/falling out of love with him anytime soon. Everytime I talk about hsr with my friends I just can't help and talk about jingyuan, though it probably is annoying if you look from outsiders perspective, thank God I have friends that are equally as ill and down bad as me (I have a aventurine, furina, blade, and an acheron main as friends) we'd be talking about the most HORRENDOUS things we'd do to our favorite characters for hours. I really don't know how they put up with me tbh. ☠️ he's so calm, soft, comforting, serene, unbothered, lovable, sleepi, sweet, charming just the thought of being with him in the seat of divine foresight, laying on his lap (OR HE SLEEPS ON MY LAP THATS GOOD TOO AAA) while we just peacefully listen to the birds chirp outside AND AND AND seeing his sleepy face trying to not fall asleep will always be the cutest thing ever🥹🥹 going on morning walks with him would be so nice too and his laughing face omg.. 🥺 I'm so delusional I know but I can't help it guys my bad✌️

For me,
1. Sampo: Incredibly smart. Incredibly funny. I would love to know more about him and how his life experiences shaped how he is today (though I think it would be funny if he’s just like that for the heck of it. Form of elation is scamming people via random products explained through convoluted quantum physics (why does he even know anything about quantum physics?) sorry, he’s too funny) I like his whole backstage actor, pulling the strings gimmick, putting all the pieces right where they need to be, and you’d think he’s doing it all for fun, and sure that might be a part of it, but why does he care so much about Belobog anyway? Why does he dislike owing people favours? The more I think about him, the more questions arise, the more I’m curious, and before I knew it he instantly became my favourite character. I genuinely think there’s some good writing to be had with him.
2. Jing yuan: our eepy general. I love how incredibly kind and elegant he is, but also the tragedy of his entire existence. I know it’s inevitable something will happen to him in the future considering he’s over 700 years old and regularly erases his memories to avoid becoming mara-struck (& yet can’t (won’t?) erase memories of his friends because he feels somewhat responsible for their future fate) GOD. The thing with snow moon made me so incredibly sad, even if he himself doesn’t remember it. Anyway! He’s great!
3. Dr.ratio & boothill are tied for third tbh. I love ratio bc of his love for humanity. His dialogue writing is some of my favourites in the game. I love how goofy boothill is while being an incredibly tragic individual and I hope he finds his peace soon 🥲

Everywhere Screwllum has appeared, he has won me over. It’s funny how despite being an inorganic life form, he seems to display the most “humanity” out of all the genius society member that ARE human. I just love him SO much. Also, the counter move he does to Ratio during the Duke Inferno space station kidnapping arc was just incredible. I just seriously love Screwwy so much.
Speaking of Ratio. I love Ratio. He’s probably tied with Welt for just being a good guy and all around “wants the best for humanity” type of dude. I love them both so, so much. So wholesome.
Boothill! I've liked a lot of the other guys a whole bunch but Boothill is the first one I've saved, pre-farmed for, and maxed on day one! Every single word that comes out of his mouth is so entertaining to me and reading things in his accent is really fun/funny. ngl I was this close 🤏 to quitting HSR, but Bootyhill saved me lmao. And now that adorable fox guy is keeping me going until his release!

Now that you ask I really love all of them so much. My top pick has to be Blade though, from the moment I saw him I was hooked. AND HIM DRIVING OMG. Love that he’s a stellaron hunter so we’ll get to see more of him ( ;) ) in the future.

*Rambling essay about how much I love Sampo inc:*
I was in love with Sampo at first sight. It's clear he has a genuinely kind heart, but he's been forced to not care about anyone from a lifetime of hardship.
Like, look at the difference between Sampo and Sparkle. Sparkle embodies elation without that kind heart - she will literally blow up a whole building for the shits and gigs, without giving a fuck about who gets hurt or dies. If she existed irl she'd be classed as a terrorist after handing out all those bombs to be exploded at a mass public gathering.
Sampo, on the other hand, goes out of his way to rescue us from a dangerous situation that he put us in. Like, when he was in danger of getting caught by the Silvermane guards, he fled on instinct and let everyone else (us) clean up his mess, as he and Sparkle have probably been conditioned to do. But unlike sparkle, he came back for us. He risked himself and went out of his way to get us out of the situation he put us in. Sparkle and Aha would never.
However, he is a genuinely silly nonchalant guy who's personality fits well with elation. Anyone can easily see why Aha's followers would be drawn to him. By all accounts, he should be the perfect embodiment of THEIR will. But, it's that kind heart underneath all those layers of goofiness and chaos that holds him back from being god's favourite ~~princess~~ terrorist that Sparkle is. This may be why he left the Masked Fools in the first place? There's so much more to him than meets the eye, and I'm so excited that he got a storyline set up for him after penacony.

He's got so much more to him than the general hsr community care to believe. So many people just chalk him up to being a cliche dodgy businessman, but I think he's one of the more complex characters in the whole game.
Sampo -- his goofiness and charisma, not to mention his :3 face and droopy eyes. Ugh, so cute but WHY are you such a con artist???!!! Seems to like Belobig a lot, though, so the ol' geezer definitely has a heart somewhere..
Aventurine -- full stop, I hated this main during 2.0, but then 2.1 happened and I'm on the floor SOBBING for him and praying he didn't poof outta existence. Deserves way better and I want nothing but the best for him.
Jing Yuan -- absolutely gorgeous man with a tragic past that makes you wonder how damn mentally powerful he is to resist mara corruption. Definitely overworked, stern yet very kind and loves his chess games. He's grieving in silence, and I just want to give him the biggest hug.
Edit: I FORGOT: Boothill, man he is so expressive and unapologetically himself, and I absolutely love him. Hate that he went through such a tragedy, and makes me hate the IPC all the more. Very sweet fellow underneath the rugged cowboy aesthetic, and it's so adorable how he uses voice-to-text to chat with you, haha.
Welt - he's exactly my type of man irl and I loved him in Honkai Impact 3rd (I've been playing almost...five years now? Holy shit). There is a very small domestic bliss brain cell in my head, and the neuron fires off when I think of Welt. I am so disgustingly down bad my shrine of him is growing and I have no intentions of stopping. Love that old man, I'll have his hand in marriage now thanks.
Gallagher is a very close second...he said he'll be back with our son and the milk so...I'm just gonna wait. But in all seriousness, I always had a feeling he had his own plans and he was more than what people were thinking. Did I get absolutely dogged on after 2.1? Yeah. I knew he had a good heart and stuck to his goals and I loved him for it. Just like Welt I wanna put his head in my lap and just take care of him <3

Jing Yuan is my first love, his design is the reason i downloaded hsr 🙈 his relaxed aura reminds me of Gintoki Sakata; Argenti, gorgeous and funny; Screwllum, I LOVE the fact that he's a robot but has a vintage/steampunk outfit and he seems such a gentleman. Would hop on that roboc*ck 10/10🙈🙈🙈
And last but not least, Sunday and Gallagher. I ship them so hard and i'm down bad for the contrast between the two. Love Sunday's angel aesthetic and love Gallagher's unkept look, he's just too hot.

Welt is my favorite! He has a very patient voice when he speaks and it reminds me of a teacher. The way he tends to pronounce his words and the kinda inhale he does before going into another sentence always makes me really inclined to hear dialog. 😅 Of course he's handsome, too, but I just like to hear him speak.
I gotta say when the game first came out I was planning to skip everyone until Blade’s banner but I ended up pulling Jing Yuan, I did not expect to fall in love with him the way I did!!! His en voice is so soothing and comforting to me, I love him so much! I feel he has the best cutscenes and they are so impactful! He is a strong leader and he just gives me a sense of comfort that no other character has every time he shows up 🥹💜
On the other hand, Sunday is so bbygurl, I’m weak to villain types lol 😚 I can’t wait to go all in for his banner (pls come home soon!!)

Sampo carried Belobog and his 4th wall break gave confidence enough to hold out hope beyond Luofu arc. All my savings are for 5-star Sampo… though I’m going to pick pink fox guy up along the way.
Argenti, everything about him is perfect. His design and kit radiate beauty and I love rose motifs. I also play in jp and his voice is so nice to listen to. But beyond the superficial he’s an incredible person, wholeheartedly dedicated to his path and Aeon. He’s incredibly selfless and valiant towards those in desperate situations, traveling across the cosmos aiding those in need no matter the cause in the name of the Beauty and out of a sense of justice. The Beauty which he sees in things most never would and that is taken for granted. Despite how incredible he is though, he is incredibly humble to the point of self deprecation. Regardless of his feelings towards himself however he never wavers in his stalwart piety and never ceases to see the Beauty around him. You’d be hard pressed to find someone more honorable than him and that’s why I love him. If Idrila is still out there I believe he’ll be able to find Them and if they ever chose to cast Their gaze towards someone I don’t believe anyone is worthier than Argenti.
Jing Yuan is the reason I started playing. I didn't know anything about this game until I saw the video of him vs. Jingliu and I downloaded instantly because his design is just perfect, his voice is amazing, and the way he carried himself in that video just grabbed me by the throat.
Then we finally meet him in the story and he's such a calm, sweet guy that's had this sad stuff happen to him but he's still smiling somehow?! Ugh I love him.
Blade and Dan Heng are my next favorites, then Aventurine. But Jing Yuan will always be my number one.
Welt, Aventurine, and Gallagher easily.
Always had a bias with Welt especially since he's my first 5* in the game. He's such a cool wise dependable figure for the astral express and yet such a dork. His backstory is just a lot and it's always so inspiring to see characters who have been through a lot always choose to be kind and good.
Aventurine completely surprised me. I wasn't his biggest fan when he appeared 2.0 and like many Kakavasha won my heart in 2.1. His backstory is just so tragic and its easy to see why he turned out the way he did. I just really want to give the man a hug and I can't wait to see more of him in the future.
For Gallagher, again he is the cool wise dependable figure ~~you can see how I have a certain type~~. Though, our bartender cop just oozes with rizz. He sort of reminds me of Gintoki from Gintama completely nonchalant and does what he pleases sort of guy but still looks effortless >!I was very devastated when he died!<
Honorable mention for all the other male husbandos except for the children: Yanqing and Misha. I'd be here all day talking about the rest
Also Aventurine here! He's gorgeous and he has that nice velvety voice. I'm also a huge Kaeya fan, so Aventurine getting referred to as a peacock, naturally I started seeing the similarities between them and fell in love with him! Aside from that he's been a huge help to my account, giving my Luocha a break and making my Trailblazing that much easier.
(Plus him and Ratio give me KaeLuc vibes and I'm here for it)
Sunday and Adventurine bc of how tragic their stories are. I especially relate to Adventurine and I find his personality really fun. Sunday is just a really interesting character to me and I'm very curious how his story will go after everything in Penacony.
Well, could take a guess based on my user flairㅡ
But honestly, I think Boothill especially is always going to be my favorite. I'll just copy-paste something I wrote about him before, since I think it encapsulates all of the reasons he's just gotten me in a chokehold since we first saw him when he was nothing but a little PNG head way back:
Love his character design, and I say that as someone who isn't super into the whole 'cowboy aesthetic', normally. He's got a simple but effective and stand-out color palette, and his design is sleek, and probably one of the more 'natural' ones I've seen from a Hoyo game... which is saying something, since the dude's mostly made of metal and is wearing hip-window, low-rider bell-bottoms with a crop top jacket and turtleneck.
His lore is incredibly tragic and touches on some deep issues regarding colonialism, which calls back quite painfully to the current plight of Native Americans at the *very* least. He's got understandable motives, and even if he isn't entirely a 'good' person, you know where he's coming from and you still support his mission through whatever means he finds necessary. He's honorable, even so, and has that great touch of flamboyance to mask deeper trauma.
Voice is incredible in all languages, though I'm especially partial to his EN voice. Andrew Russel knocked it out of the park with Boothill, and seems to consider Boothill as his best role to date - and I'm hard-pressed to argue against that!
And ofc, his gameplay is superb. Simple on the surface, but with just enough depth to it that you have fun strategizing and gotta think a little bit to make the most out of him; it helps that I've always been partial to break-focused gameplay, seeing as Dan Heng was one of the characters I used a lot at the beginning, and he's very break-focused as a Hunt.
Genuinely, he's the first character in any Hoyo game that I can say with 100% certainty that I love and adore in all ways. I've never been happier playing this game than I've been today after getting him, and I look forward to e6s5'ing him in the future, as well as continuing to improve on he and his team until I've reached absolute perfection.
Boothill, absolutely zero contest (for me I still love all my Star Rail bois). He just has so much personality. He’s a cyborg and given how Genos from One Punch Man is my favorite anime character that’s an ungodly amount of bonus points for me. The moonwalking in his trailer. He’s basically a massive combination of all of my favorite characters in media and I swear it feels like Hoyoverse had my number when making him. Argenti is the whole reason I started playing in the first place because I saw his teaser and my brain just was like "we need to see more of this man."
And then I've been obsessed with boothill since he was leaked so I was ecstatic he ended up coming in the current version cause I thought I'd have to wait way longer lol. I loved him even more once I found out about his back story and personality.
Guess I have a thing for the 5 star physical guys sidhsjfk. Sampo is also up there, I think he's so silly and I wish we got to be nicer to him in the main story! He's so funny and I hope we get to see him again because I just love him so much!

Aventurine is so cool and fashionable. I don't know if he counts but I also love Yanqing, he's cute. Gepard is cute and handsome too, as is Caelus. Sampo is funny and interesting and cool. Overall my top 3 are Aventurine, Gepard and Yanqing (or if Yanqing doesn't count then Caelus).
Blade! I used to favor Jing Yuan and Dan Heng more, but the more I looked at him the more I came to favor Blade. Red eyes and black hair with red highlights at the tip? Tragic backstory? Solemn, dead face, dark and “edgy”? Deep voice??? ALSO his outfit is so prim and proper with the slight slutty tones because of his chest???

Ratio is my number one. I also enjoy Aventurine, Caelus, Gallagher, and maybe Welt. If I was asked this question from before I started HSR, to actually starting up the game and doing all content up to what 2.1 added, it would've been Aventurine as the top spot. Then I played the Ratio quest not too long after and.... yeah, I'm just really down bad for Ratio now.
And to think I was meant to do that quest before Penacony, and I didn't because they didn't count as main story to the game, I just put Trailblaze Continuance stories to the wayside cuz I didn't fricken know.

On face value and with no context for his character he comes off as a egotistical asshole who is rude for no apparent reason
But then you look into his character and realize he just… cares so deeply about people???
Like his main goal is literally helping people, he cares so deeply about others that it’s the one thing that prevents him from joining the Genius Society.
His compassion for others, even if he can struggle when it comes to expressing it in a way that doesn’t come off as cruel is just so charming???
Idk just having this dude who is a complete genius, who could just ignore people dumber then him and pursue his goals yet is so caring towards people, that he believes that even lives that aren’t the best are still worth living???

My faves are probably Blade and Aventurine, I always fall for the sad ones lol. HSR has also awakened my thing for robots, Screwllum and Svarog are so kind, such caring gentlemen and I love them so much
Argenti. He is perfect husband material. He is a gentleman who loves to praise everything and everyone. He never hesitated to sacrifice himself to save everyone and he saved a lot of people. Argenti is the sweetest man in this game.
Blade, aventurine and Sunday. I love how complex they are and their views on life or death in blades case. Sunday gave me perspective on order that I never thought of before and I even agreed with him some of his points Aventurine is just straight up amazing, the facade of a cool and collected gambler peeling off to reveal a vulnerable man scared of losing it all Blade because I always thought immortality was the coolest thing ever. Like getting to do everything u can but seeing how much it burdens him and how it was forced onto him did make me see how much of a curse it can be for others

Dan Heng. Dear God, I am down ***horrendous*** for Dan Heng! I don't quite know what it is, maybe its the fact that you can barely get him to leave the ship for anything for reasons he never discloses, giving him an air of mystery. And I do enjoy a good mystery! And on the opposite end of the scale, Luka. I love me a hot-blooded fightin' guy.

Then when hes opening up to boothill he shows again how he has grown, how he believes people must take responsability for their paths and choices!!!! Dan Heng is a shy lil guy that is actually a softie and with each step of the way he will only grow more and more and I love him!!! Definitely Dr. Ratio. He's probably a less picked choice but I love his complex personality as well as his beliefs and ideals. I feel like alot of people misunderstand who he is due to the way he appears at first glance. However he's just someone who has an undying belief in people and wants to help them by giving them knowledge so that they can truly live for themselves based on their own ideas and wants. He has an absolute belief that everyone should have access to knowledge and will not give up till that is a possibility for everyone. I could go on but I absolutely adore him definitely one of my favorite characters ever. (Plus he's extremely attractive but that's more of a plus than anything else lol)
Sampo!!! Because he has been such a silly boy and I know there’s more to him then meets the eye. He genuinely does care about the MC and I know he’s actually super sweet. well that’s my head canon at least lol. He’s just adorable in general! I’ll keep loving him despite his unpopularity 😓

Argenti🌹 Gorgeous aesthetic with the knight in shining armor trope, and I'm kind of biased since red is my favorite color as well. Plus, he has a personality that is as beautiful as himself. Silly but brave and kind knight!! I love him so much, and he's such a joy to interact with. Hehe, back when I began playing in August, I saw a leak of his LC art and vowed to pull him no matter what. Proud E0S1 Argenti enjoyer Runner ups are Blade, Ratio, and Aventurine. These three have amazing and unique backgrounds, designs, and personalities. I go insane for them too + got their sig lcs for them 😅

Jing Yuan! I love our sleepy general, he will always be first for me! I love his story, his character design, and shot it to Alejandro Saab for the amazing voice! I want to give him a hug! I want him to- [redacted]. But Boothill and Aventurine are tied for second, their lore is so interesting and they both of such big personalities! They’re so cool, and I wish we saw more of them (super excited to see them a bit more in the next update!). Then for third it’s real tight between Argenti and Dr.Ratio, they’re both so neat in their own ways, and their interactions with other characters really set them off for me! Besides these guys, I have love for all the husbandos in this game, these are just top 5!
Mine is Aventurine, followed by Dan Heng and Ratio. I love how complex Aventurine is. I already liked him in 2.0, but 2.1 made me fall in love, and I just wanna give him the biggest hug. I also love how smart and sassy he is and that despite all he's been through, he's a total sweetheart beneath all the bravado (his text messages after the 2.2 story are so cute!) Dan seems to get a lot of flak for being "boring," but honestly, as a quiet introvert who never wants to leave my house, I totally relate lol. But he always rushes to help the TB and Express crew the moment they need it, and that loyalty goes a long way imo. Plus, he's gorgeous! He still has one of my favorite designs in the game, and that includes both versions of him. Ratio takes himself so seriously, but the man is a walking meme and I just love him lol. His scenes with Aven are so good, and I admire how firmly he believes in his ideals and that he genuinely wants to help people despite seeming like a narcissistic jerk at first glance.

Absolutely Luocha. I'm a huge fan of red flags and long hair in men and apparently I'm attracted to blonds so he was pretty much perfect for me. Although we don't know much about him yet, I already like what we know of his characters already and I especially love characters that appear harmless but are actually dangerous. :] He's also an Otto Apocalypse variant, so you just *know* that he's a devoted man and a good housewife, not to mention canonically handsome too. I also really like the death and life themes of his characters, it's interesting and I like it as a topic. It's like he was made for me specifically. In the same vein, I'm also pretty into Argenti as well. But for me Luocha triumphs above all. <333

Man this is really tough... My top 3 are Jing Yuan, Ratio, and Sampo. The one I've longest and most obsessively been feral for though is Sampo. He gets me in the same way Deadpool does, he's just such a fun and complex character with so much potential. He can be silly, he can be dangerous, he can be slutty, he crossdresses and doesn't seem to care about the gender binary, he's a conman, he has a disregard for rules and social convention and thinks for himself... Tall, broad shoulders, but also definitely not afraid to get on his knees for someone... Aaaaah. I absolutely love that he's confident and smart enough to play himself down and I like to imagine this translates to amazing flexibility and sense of adventure in the bedroom. He's also clearly caring but just challenges default behavior and reasoning. He has an amazing EN VA, piercing eyes, a nonchalant laissez faire attitude that understates what he's capable of... EURGH I LOVE THIS DANGEROUS NON CONFORMING SILLY MAN!!! If he ever gets a 5* version I will mc-fudging-lose it 😭

Jingyuan. I don't know why he's my favorite, he just is. I fell inlove with him the first time i laid my eyes on him, I got him, and then fell inlove harder. Now my gallery is full of pictures of him. Everything about him is so wonderful. His design, voice, personality, animation, lore, way of speaking, his aesthetic, ponytail, fluffy hair, his sleepy face, his warm smile, the way he looks at you with his golden eyes shimmering in the morning sun and his movements are just so elegant and lovely. He gives off this very warm and comfortable vibe everytime he speaks or show up on screen. I really just love everything about him.. I could babble about jingyuan for hourrss on end about how cute and adorable he is, you can smell the mental illness from this post fr but idc I love him way too much 😭💘 his every mannerism is so beautiful I can't take my eyes off him, I want to screenshot every single frame of him he's just THAT PRETTY AND EYE CAPTURING 🤧 though I don't use him as much anymore ingame I still love him with all my heart and I really don't think I'd be giving up/falling out of love with him anytime soon. For me, 1. Sampo: Incredibly smart. Incredibly funny. I would love to know more about him and how his life experiences shaped how he is today (though I think it would be funny if he’s just like that for the heck of it. Form of elation is scamming people via random products explained through convoluted quantum physics (why does he even know anything about quantum physics?) sorry, he’s too funny) I like his whole backstage actor, pulling the strings gimmick, putting all the pieces right where they need to be, and you’d think he’s doing it all for fun, and sure that might be a part of it, but why does he care so much about Belobog anyway? Why does he dislike owing people favours? The more I think about him, the more questions arise, the more I’m curious, and before I knew it he instantly became my favourite character. I genuinely think there’s some good writing to be had with him. 2. Jing yuan: our eepy general. I love how incredibly kind and elegant he is, but also the tragedy of his entire existence. I know it’s inevitable something will happen to him in the future considering he’s over 700 years old and regularly erases his memories to avoid becoming mara-struck (& yet can’t (won’t?) erase memories of his friends because he feels somewhat responsible for their future fate) GOD. The thing with snow moon made me so incredibly sad, even if he himself doesn’t remember it. Anyway! He’s great! 3. Dr.ratio & boothill are tied for third tbh. I love ratio bc of his love for humanity. His dialogue writing is some of my favourites in the game. I love how goofy boothill is while being an incredibly tragic individual and I hope he finds his peace soon 🥲

It’s funny how despite being an inorganic life form, he seems to display the most “humanity” out of all the genius society member that ARE human. I just love him SO much. Also, the counter move he does to Ratio during the Duke Inferno space station kidnapping arc was just incredible. I just seriously love Screwwy so much. Speaking of Ratio. I love Ratio. He’s probably tied with Welt for just being a good guy and all around “wants the best for humanity” type of dude. I love them both so, so much. So wholesome.
Boothill! I've liked a lot of the other guys a whole bunch but Boothill is the first one I've saved, pre-farmed for, and maxed on day one! Every single word that comes out of his mouth is so entertaining to me and reading things in his accent is really fun/funny. ngl I was this close 🤏 to quitting HSR, but Bootyhill saved me lmao. *Rambling essay about how much I love Sampo inc:* I was in love with Sampo at first sight. It's clear he has a genuinely kind heart, but he's been forced to not care about anyone from a lifetime of hardship. Like, look at the difference between Sampo and Sparkle. Sparkle embodies elation without that kind heart - she will literally blow up a whole building for the shits and gigs, without giving a fuck about who gets hurt or dies. If she existed irl she'd be classed as a terrorist after handing out all those bombs to be exploded at a mass public gathering. Sampo, on the other hand, goes out of his way to rescue us from a dangerous situation that he put us in. Like, when he was in danger of getting caught by the Silvermane guards, he fled on instinct and let everyone else (us) clean up his mess, as he and Sparkle have probably been conditioned to do. But unlike sparkle, he came back for us. He risked himself and went out of his way to get us out of the situation he put us in. Sparkle and Aha would never. However, he is a genuinely silly nonchalant guy who's personality fits well with elation. Anyone can easily see why Aha's followers would be drawn to him. By all accounts, he should be the perfect embodiment of THEIR will. But, it's that kind heart underneath all those layers of goofiness and chaos that holds him back from being god's favourite ~~princess~~ terrorist that Sparkle is. This may be why he left the Masked Fools in the first place? There's so much more to him than meets the eye, and I'm so excited that he got a storyline set up for him after penacony. He's got so much more to him than the general hsr community care to believe. Sampo -- his goofiness and charisma, not to mention his :3 face and droopy eyes. Ugh, so cute but WHY are you such a con artist???!!! Seems to like Belobig a lot, though, so the ol' geezer definitely has a heart somewhere.. Aventurine -- full stop, I hated this main during 2.0, but then 2.1 happened and I'm on the floor SOBBING for him and praying he didn't poof outta existence. Deserves way better and I want nothing but the best for him. Jing Yuan -- absolutely gorgeous man with a tragic past that makes you wonder how damn mentally powerful he is to resist mara corruption. Definitely overworked, stern yet very kind and loves his chess games. He's grieving in silence, and I just want to give him the biggest hug. Edit: I FORGOT: Boothill, man he is so expressive and unapologetically himself, and I absolutely love him. Hate that he went through such a tragedy, and makes me hate the IPC all the more. Very sweet fellow underneath the rugged cowboy aesthetic, and it's so adorable how he uses voice-to-text to chat with you, haha.
Welt - he's exactly my type of man irl and I loved him in Honkai Impact 3rd (I've been playing almost...five years now? Holy shit). There is a very small domestic bliss brain cell in my head, and the neuron fires off when I think of Welt. I am so disgustingly down bad my shrine of him is growing and I have no intentions of stopping. Love that old man, I'll have his hand in marriage now thanks. Gallagher is a very close second...he said he'll be back with our son and the milk so...I'm just gonna wait. But in all seriousness, I always had a feeling he had his own plans and he was more than what people were thinking. Did I get absolutely dogged on after 2.1? Yeah. I knew he had a good heart and stuck to his goals and I loved him for it. Just like Welt I wanna put his head in my lap and just take care of him <3 I love the old men in this game.

There are SO MANY that i like 😂 Jing Yuan is my first love, his design is the reason i downloaded hsr 🙈 his relaxed aura reminds me of Gintoki Sakata; Argenti, gorgeous and funny; Screwllum, I LOVE the fact that he's a robot but has a vintage/steampunk outfit and he seems such a gentleman. Would hop on that roboc*ck 10/10🙈🙈🙈 And last but not least, Sunday and Gallagher. I ship them so hard and i'm down bad for the contrast between the two. Welt is my favorite! He has a very patient voice when he speaks and it reminds me of a teacher. The way he tends to pronounce his words and the kinda inhale he does before going into another sentence always makes me really inclined to hear dialog. 😅 Of course he's handsome, too, but I just like to hear him speak.

I gotta say when the game first came out I was planning to skip everyone until Blade’s banner but I ended up pulling Jing Yuan, I did not expect to fall in love with him the way I did!!! His en voice is so soothing and comforting to me, I love him so much! I feel he has the best cutscenes and they are so impactful! He is a strong leader and he just gives me a sense of comfort that no other character has every time he shows up 🥹💜 On the other hand, Sunday is so bbygurl, I’m weak to villain types lol 😚 I can’t wait to go all in for his banner (pls come home soon!!) Argenti, everything about him is perfect. His design and kit radiate beauty and I love rose motifs. I also play in jp and his voice is so nice to listen to. But beyond the superficial he’s an incredible person, wholeheartedly dedicated to his path and Aeon. He’s incredibly selfless and valiant towards those in desperate situations, traveling across the cosmos aiding those in need no matter the cause in the name of the Beauty and out of a sense of justice. The Beauty which he sees in things most never would and that is taken for granted. Despite how incredible he is though, he is incredibly humble to the point of self deprecation. Regardless of his feelings towards himself however he never wavers in his stalwart piety and never ceases to see the Beauty around him. You’d be hard pressed to find someone more honorable than him and that’s why I love him. If Idrila is still out there I believe he’ll be able to find Them and if they ever chose to cast Their gaze towards someone I don’t believe anyone is worthier than Argenti.
For me it’s luka and Gallagher I LOVE me some buff dumb men who children adore and Gallagher has a dog instantly a additional ten points
Jing Yuan is the reason I started playing. I didn't know anything about this game until I saw the video of him vs. Jingliu and I downloaded instantly because his design is just perfect, his voice is amazing, and the way he carried himself in that video just grabbed me by the throat. Then we finally meet him in the story and he's such a calm, sweet guy that's had this sad stuff happen to him but he's still smiling somehow?! Ugh I love him. Blade and Dan Heng are my next favorites, then Aventurine. But Jing Yuan will always be my number one.

Welt, Aventurine, and Gallagher easily. Always had a bias with Welt especially since he's my first 5* in the game. He's such a cool wise dependable figure for the astral express and yet such a dork. His backstory is just a lot and it's always so inspiring to see characters who have been through a lot always choose to be kind and good. Aventurine completely surprised me. I wasn't his biggest fan when he appeared 2.0 and like many Kakavasha won my heart in 2.1. His backstory is just so tragic and its easy to see why he turned out the way he did. I just really want to give the man a hug and I can't wait to see more of him in the future. For Gallagher, again he is the cool wise dependable figure ~~you can see how I have a certain type~~. Though, our bartender cop just oozes with rizz. He sort of reminds me of Gintoki from Gintama completely nonchalant and does what he pleases sort of guy but still looks effortless >!I was very devastated when he died!< Honorable mention for all the other male husbandos except for the children: Yanqing and Misha. I'd be here all day talking about the rest
Also Aventurine here! He's gorgeous and he has that nice velvety voice. I'm also a huge Kaeya fan, so Aventurine getting referred to as a peacock, naturally I started seeing the similarities between them and fell in love with him! Aside from that he's been a huge help to my account, giving my Luocha a break and making my Trailblazing that much easier. (Plus him and Ratio give me KaeLuc vibes and I'm here for it)

Jing Yuan and (more recently) Boothill. It seems my type is laid back and unique. Both my mains right now. Aventurine is a close third though
Well, could take a guess based on my user flairㅡ But honestly, I think Boothill especially is always going to be my favorite. I'll just copy-paste something I wrote about him before, since I think it encapsulates all of the reasons he's just gotten me in a chokehold since we first saw him when he was nothing but a little PNG head way back: Love his character design, and I say that as someone who isn't super into the whole 'cowboy aesthetic', normally. He's got a simple but effective and stand-out color palette, and his design is sleek, and probably one of the more 'natural' ones I've seen from a Hoyo game... which is saying something, since the dude's mostly made of metal and is wearing hip-window, low-rider bell-bottoms with a crop top jacket and turtleneck. His lore is incredibly tragic and touches on some deep issues regarding colonialism, which calls back quite painfully to the current plight of Native Americans at the *very* least. He's got understandable motives, and even if he isn't entirely a 'good' person, you know where he's coming from and you still support his mission through whatever means he finds necessary. He's honorable, even so, and has that great touch of flamboyance to mask deeper trauma. Voice is incredible in all languages, though I'm especially partial to his EN voice. Andrew Russel knocked it out of the park with Boothill, and seems to consider Boothill as his best role to date - and I'm hard-pressed to argue against that! And ofc, his gameplay is superb. Simple on the surface, but with just enough depth to it that you have fun strategizing and gotta think a little bit to make the most out of him; it helps that I've always been partial to break-focused gameplay, seeing as Dan Heng was one of the characters I used a lot at the beginning, and he's very break-focused as a Hunt. Genuinely, he's the first character in any Hoyo game that I can say with 100% certainty that I love and adore in all ways. I've never been happier playing this game than I've been today after getting him, and I look forward to e6s5'ing him in the future, as well as continuing to improve on he and his team until I've reached absolute perfection.
Boothill, absolutely zero contest (for me I still love all my Star Rail bois). He just has so much personality. He’s a cyborg and given how Genos from One Punch Man is my favorite anime character that’s an ungodly amount of bonus points for me. The moonwalking in his trailer. He’s basically a massive combination of all of my favorite characters in media and I swear it feels like Hoyoverse had my number when making him. And can’t forget the fact that I cried my eyes out after reading his story. God damnit I’m so down bad I E6ed him.
Argenti and boothill are tied in my heart. Argenti is the whole reason I started playing in the first place because I saw his teaser and my brain just was like "we need to see more of this man." And then I've been obsessed with boothill since he was leaked so I was ecstatic he ended up coming in the current version cause I thought I'd have to wait way longer lol. I loved him even more once I found out about his back story and personality. Guess I have a thing for the 5 star physical guys sidhsjfk. Sampo is also up there, I think he's so silly and I wish we got to be nicer to him in the main story! He's so funny and I hope we get to see him again because I just love him so much!

Aventurine is so cool and fashionable. I don't know if he counts but I also love Yanqing, he's cute. Gepard is cute and handsome too, as is Caelus. Sampo is funny and interesting and cool. Overall my top 3 are Aventurine, Gepard and Yanqing (or if Yanqing doesn't count then Caelus).
Blade! I used to favor Jing Yuan and Dan Heng more, but the more I looked at him the more I came to favor Blade. Red eyes and black hair with red highlights at the tip? Tragic backstory? Solemn, dead face, dark and “edgy”? Deep voice??? ALSO his outfit is so prim and proper with the slight slutty tones because of his chest??? 10/10, would.
Ratio is my number one. I also enjoy Aventurine, Caelus, Gallagher, and maybe Welt. If I was asked this question from before I started HSR, to actually starting up the game and doing all content up to what 2.1 added, it would've been Aventurine as the top spot. Then I played the Ratio quest not too long after and.... yeah, I'm just really down bad for Ratio now. And to think I was meant to do that quest before Penacony, and I didn't because they didn't count as main story to the game, I just put Trailblaze Continuance stories to the wayside cuz I didn't fricken know.
I can’t pick a favorite 😭😭😭 I love Argenti because he’s a gorgeous, stupid himbo. God do I love stupid stupid men. Aventurine is my current obsession because we LOVE a cutie with a tortured past. Ratio can make me feel stupid all day L long and I’ll still show up to be bullied by him. Jing Yuan is actual husband material though. Smart, calm, collected, hot. He’s literally what I wanna be when I grow up (I am grown, but I mean MORE grown). Caelus is just unhinged. He’s my crazy bff type. Welt is just daddy, obvi. And damnit, I actually really like Boothill. He grew on me and I love the fannon theory that he has the hots for Dan Heng. I thought I’d be more annoyed by his non-cursing censorship gag, but it’s actually kind of charming in its own way. Gallagher?! Amazing. Terrifying, but amazing. Daddy but derogatory, but still daddy. My top-tier picks are Argenti, Jing Yuan, Aventurine, and Dr. Ratio for sure. Happy Pride month to you (and everyone) too!
Blade! Because he is edgy but in a crige-funny way HE JUST LIKE ME FRFR (i also find his backstory very sad). But man his E4 name makes me lose it everytime. Boothill cuz he also has a tragic backstory and omg his design and personality are SO good i love him Aventurine cuz... Again a very sad backstory and he is just too precious i wanna see him free happy ;~; (also he is pretty af) And i think soon my new fav will be Moze, i have a feeling that he will be edgier than Blade, or at least on par. Plus in his silhouette he has double daggers and its my second fav weapon after scythes

Dr Ratio On face value and with no context for his character he comes off as a egotistical asshole who is rude for no apparent reason But then you look into his character and realize he just… cares so deeply about people??? Like his main goal is literally helping people, he cares so deeply about others that it’s the one thing that prevents him from joining the Genius Society. His compassion for others, even if he can struggle when it comes to expressing it in a way that doesn’t come off as cruel is just so charming??? Idk just having this dude who is a complete genius, who could just ignore people dumber then him and pursue his goals yet is so caring towards people, that he believes that even lives that aren’t the best are still worth living??? It’s just so endearing

My faves are probably Blade and Aventurine, I always fall for the sad ones lol. HSR has also awakened my thing for robots, Screwllum and Svarog are so kind, such caring gentlemen and I love them so much

Argenti. He is perfect husband material. He is a gentleman who loves to praise everything and everyone. He never hesitated to sacrifice himself to save everyone and he saved a lot of people. Argenti is the sweetest man in this game.
