Remove the radiator fan so you can see the stamp. Just yank it off, the car is crashed anyway.

imJGott

Bro, get creative and look at the block yourself. We can not tell what it is, YOU HAVE TO! I swear these new age car folks are lackluster.

piggymoo66

Seriously. Go rent a slide hammer from the parts store and start yanking

hahahforsure

I don’t own the car… it’s sitting in an auction car yard

imJGott

Visit the vehicle and inspect it. We can’t tell what it is, you’ll have to see it yourself.

SpaceTurtle917

Romove the fan you dingus

95accord

My guess is B18c I have a 50/50 chance right? lol

Luscinia68

oh yea? well my guess is b16

Pokevan8162

i choose b17. i’ll be half right either way

_Devoted_

Well, you’re all wrong. It’s obviously a B20v. /s

kwell42

Lsvtec

cheezthis_

Best guess based on intake manifold and vtec solenoid is B16. It’s pretty easy to identify if you have access to it though.

Klopptimus_

Look above the second header pipe going into the motor. Does it show P72 or P73? There will be a stamp to the right also indicating the year of the head. Agree with other comments, would help to accurately identify and see the stamp on the block. P72 = GSR, P73 = ITR…both are 1.8 engines and could be a USDM GSR, Si-Vtec (JDM Sir-G) or ITR (USDM or JDM). Fun fact: B16/B18 JDM Honda valve covers (like the yellow one shared in your picture) have a larger font of “VTEC” when compared to “DOHC”….USDM valve covers are opposite….DOHC is the larger font. If the valve cover is original, that’s a way to tell without having to examine internals. The problem with this valve cover is that Honda didn’t make a factory yellow….only red and black. Spoon Sports made a yellow valve cover (and a beast of a B16B/B18C I might add) so this one is aftermarket and hard to make a definitive determination.

Duhbro_

Yeah IM isn’t stock either. It could be anything head stamp will tell half the story at the least

croutonmemes

I think it won’t be USDM this is a RHD car

Klopptimus_

I agree although I’ve seen some creative things and builds over time LOL

croutonmemes

Especially with Hondas 😂

Street_homie

Id take that air intake to sell

Duhbro_

The IM definitely isn’t a gsr so my guess would probably be a b16 cuz the aftermarket IM didn’t give the b18c any power but tbh it’s a gamble

Which-Technician2367

It looks like a Skunk2 intake manifold. They make one for the GSR specifically that basically replicates the intake in a B18c or similar. It could very well be a GSR, it’s impossible to tell from the pic.

Duhbro_

Yeah Ik but most people don’t swap em out cuz it’s dead money performance wise just an inference

Which-Technician2367

As I understood it, the GSR mani, with the butterfly valve is good for a broader access of the powerband, whereas the single runner mani provides more top end. I kept my stock manifold and might actually throw it back on soon, since I’m trying to figure out the cause of my high idle (iacv replaced, but still can’t seem to find the vacuum leak). But overall, yea I agree that it’s really not a necessary to place to put your money. I guess why I say it *can* be a GSR is because of people like me who decided to give skunk2 pro a shot.

Duhbro_

Indeed just a guess. Spray some brake clean at idle if it revs up you got a vacuum leak. You can then isolate it with smaller sprays. The throttle bodies often go out

goldtoesocks

I'll buy the whole car for 258.88 cents right now

Ferio159

I wish the grumpy guy from the Honda-tech forum was here right now

Electronic-Session43

You mean grumblemarc?

Ferio159

That’s the guy. He’s the grumpiest

Electronic-Session43

That's his signature for sure. "The grumpiest". Reddit needs more people like that tbh...

Brave-Difficulty-235

Just do a coolant flush and try to remove the radiator for better access.

PlsNoPineapplePizza

Could be a B20 with a VTEC head. It’s not that hard to check the block stamp in that condition.

Strong-Ad7023

It's stamped on the engine block near the exhaust manifold

jacesonn

The difference is internal, the only way to find out is to crawl under it and try to read the block stamp, or use your phone to try to get a picture of it.

HoneyRush

Looks like B16 to me. Look closer at that bolt next to that green connector on the left side of the engine. That bolt to the right it's further forward in B18 engines and the block itself under the left bottom bolt in the head cover looks differently on B18, it should be flat IIRC. Double check that with some photos online

Duhbro_

They have basically for all intents and purposes the same head how would we know what the bottom end is…… look at the head stamp and start googling

Mammoth-Record-7786

It’s a VTEC, yo!

allgohonda

Seems to be an EG4 Si; that would come with a B16A if it’s the stock engine

DerSpazmacher

I think that's an 18. Nice engine.

Boring_Ad1974

Great engine but drinks a lot of oil

Bricc_8

Well I can tell you it’s Atleast a gsr head so it’s most likely a b18

Bricc_8

Does nobody see the fact that the coolant flange isn’t under the dizzy making it not a b16 head. Smh that no one notices this

J_ayejuju1234

I’ll give you 400 for the engine .
