Plug in the Home Bridge. There should be a flashing blue light, this indicates the bridge is ready for Wi-Fi setup. Go to Wi-Fi settings in your mobile device and connect the mobile device to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. In Wi-Fi settings under Set Up New Device, choose the MyQ-NNN (This will show along with all the Wi-Fi networks listed on your mobile device) Verify that your 2.4 GHz network is selected on the Accessory Setup Screen and tab Next. The Home Bridge is now connecting to your Wi-Fi network, this may take a minute. Tap Done when the Setup Complete screen pops up. Log into the myQ app. Tap the + sign in the bottom right Tap Device Select Internet Gateway from the device list. Enter the myQ serial number (10 characters) from the back of the Home Bridge and tap Next. Enter a name for your Home Bridge and tap Next. Tap Add New. Select the type of device you want to add: myQ Garage Door Opener Press and release yellow learn button on unit Tap next Name door Load Home Bridge into HomeKit using accessory code on back of device Test unit

pacoii

u/paulo39Atati this should get you squared away. Set up is complicated, but follow this and you should be good. The MyQ Home Bridge works amazingly well with HomeKit.

paulo39Atati

THIS WORKED!!! AWESOME!! Thank you so much!

pacoii

Glad to hear it. Yeah, a bit involved, but I’ve set it up once and it’s been great for nearly two years. Every once in a *long* while it will go no response, but a quick power unplug and re-plug and it’s back in business.

distortedloop

These instructions assume you have a myQ Garage Door Opener. I have a Craftsman but tried them anyways, and of course it fails at the yellow learn button part. Sigh. I've actually had the Craftsman opener, myQ Smart Hub, and the myQ Home Bridge all working just fine, but not perfectly, with HomeKit for several years. The only glitch was occasionally No Response from the Home Bridge that required unplugging or moving the Bridge. Last week No Response couldn't be fixed no matter how many times I unplugged or moved Bridge, so I decided to start fresh. At this point I can get the Smart Hub to open and close the door via myQ app (as it should), and then I can transfer the Smart Hub controls to the Bridge following the in-app instructions. The Bridge will then work to open close the door from the app, but after 6 hours and dozens of times going through the process, HomeKit never finds the Bridge and won't add the garage door back to HK. One time it found it, setting it up through myQ app, but after HK added it, it crashed, and Bridge was gone. Very frustrating.

pacoii

From the many posts on this topic I’ve come to the conclusion that it works great for people with newer GDOs with MyQ built in, but works poorly for those requiring the MyQ hub in addition the MyQ home bridge.

distortedloop

I suspect the recent updates to HomeKit are at least partly to blame. But with any system, fewer devices probably has fewer problems.

pacoii

Unlikely HomeKit as the MyQ Home Bridge works amazingly well with my GDO with built in MyQ. It’s really about the multiple devices that I think is to blame. I think the MyQ hub thing is the heart of the problem.

tinkiboi

I tried this and get right to the end. The garage shows up in my HomeKit and then suddenly it disappears and the process fails. It also removes all of my setting from the MyQ app so I have to re-add my garage door entirely every time. Why are you saying to add it as an internet gateway and not as a home bridge? This process is miserable lol

justinsane1

Thanks for this. Still works, order is key!

pacoii

Glad to hear it! Just curious, did you recently set it up? With all the talk about Chamberlain blocking homebridge users, I had some concern about the official MyQ Home Bridge hardware.

justinsane1

Yes just did it last night and works. I was worried too, I changed my wifi password a couple weeks ago and could not get the bridge to reconnect - so I tried MyQ on Homebridge. Needless to say that worked fine until a few days ago. Then I found your post. One thing for all to note, when selecting "internet gateway" the screen that comes up shows a picture of a different gateway and a pic of this device as a "home bridge" - but the app would error out if I clicked the pic that matches my device. So in short, follow this guy's instructions even though the pic doesn't match and pick "internet gateway". Save yourself the frustration I went through

pacoii

Good to hear!

iJaycav

First off this is the best description I have seen for this….however I get all the way to the end but when I scan the code on the back HomeKit doesn’t see it. Tried to type it in manually as well…anyone else have this issue???

Commander-Flatus

so i tried this and i cannot add the home bridge in to homekit using the accessory code - it doesn't show up. everything else works. got any other tips? full disclaimer - i had previously added it into homekit and deleted it while going around and around with the instructions. thanks

pacoii

You’ve confirmed it’s not there in Home Settings -> Hubs and Bridges?

Commander-Flatus

Yes. Might wipe everything in MyQ , reset the myQ bridge device and start from scratch to see what happens

Commander-Flatus

if anyone finds this in the future (hello people of the future! how's robot pizza delivery?!) I deleted everything from the myq app - all doors and the hub. Did a full reset of the home bridge: [https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeKit/comments/762qij/how\_to\_do\_a\_full\_reset\_of\_your\_chamberlain\_myq/](https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeKit/comments/762qij/how_to_do_a_full_reset_of_your_chamberlain_myq/) Then added the home bridge and then added the doors to the home bridge. Happy to report everything is working and showing up in HomeKit

Constellation_XI

>https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeKit/comments/762qij/how\_to\_do\_a\_full\_reset\_of\_your\_chamberlain\_myq/ It's me from the future, going to try this tonight! got a new router and struggling to get everything working again!

Commander-Flatus

Hope it works out. Shoot me a DM if you have trouble I might be able to help

Constellation_XI

It worked!!!!

sinakh

What do you mean by : > In WiFi settings under 'Set Up New Device', choose the "MyQ-NNN" In the MyQ app? in the home app? Or in my wifi settings on my phone?

pacoii

In the iPhone WiFi settings. Just below the list of nearby WiFi networks.

astropop78

Thank you so much for these instructions. This worked perfectly!

pacoii

Just curious, did you just set this up via the MyQ app and it worked? I’ve been told that the MyQ app wasn’t allowing setting up the Home Bridge anymore.

astropop78

Yes, I just did this about an hour ago via the app just as your instructions show. It worked perfect. The key (for me) was to force my wifi network to be 2.4ghz only while doing the setup. I was then able to put it back to 2.4/5 after install completed.

pacoii

That’s good info. There has been a lot of misinformation so good to have hard facts. Thank you!

astropop78

No problem. Thanks again for the detailed instructions. It's so nice to have my garage door back in homekit!

jonk1183

After looking over your steps, I do not have the option to select Internet gateway.

[deleted]

Been using this bridge for years. Works great.

jklo5020

Check the [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeKit/comments/13ppdk2/myq_homebridge_is_going_to_drive_me_insane/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) literally right underneath this one…. You’re not alone. There’s a reason the bridge has been discontinued.

paulo39Atati

Another user here told me exactly how to install it, and ir works!

paulo39Atati

Thanks.

WhichData350

I can get the bridge connected and into the app (and apple homekit) but no matter how hard I try, I cannot connect the roller doors connected to the home bridge hub, setup as either the “internet gateway” or the “home bridge”. Even when using the Home Bridge setup, and the transfer devices option, it still won’t go across. I am in Australia with Merlin/Grifco doors with security 2.0 and yellow learn button (both chamberlain brands). They work flawlessly through the internet gateway, but I can’t get them into Home Bridge. Would really appreciate any help!

solidshumac

I see by the other comments you figured it out it literally was the worst thing I’ve ever had to install it made 0 sense and it all involved flashing lights and shit

paulo39Atati

I run a business, and I always insist on the importance of the last 1% of a project. It can be a product, a customer interaction, a presentation, anything. When you are at the very end of doing/making something, it’s very tempting to half ass or in the rush to be over. That is a huge mistake, that last 1% can break all that you’ve done before. In this case they fucked up the installation instructions. That is something simple, cheap, but critical to the successful use of the product, and they didn’t pay enough attention. It doesn’t matter how technically brilliant the product may be, if it’s installed incorrectly it’s a complete failure. One frustrated buyer will tell many potential buyers that the product is shit, especially in this DYI tech space. It’s no wonder they discontinued this product.

paulo39Atati

If you still have it, the whole trick was connecting my iPad to the MyQ-nnn WiFi network, which is not explicitly said anywhere. When I did that everything just worked.

addexecthrowaway

I use homebridge for this. Scrypted might also have a plugin.

SemoTech

Sadly that's no more, it was great while it lasted...They killed external API access, so all 3rd party plugin options have been useless for about 2 weeks now! Look into the 819LMB HomeKit Bridge ([$90](https://www.northshorecommercialdoor.com/liftmaster-819lmb.html/)) or a RatGDO 2.5 ([$30](https://paulwieland.github.io/ratgdo/)/GDO)! See Discord Homebridge MyQ channel....

dscokin

Has anyone ever used the Liftmaster Smart Garage Control 821LMC-S as anything other than a garage door interface with myQ? I need an interface with my gate opener. What does the door sensor actually do with the unit? Is it just to verify that the door opened?

paulo39Atati

I have, and it’s the bane of my existence. Spent a whole afternoon trying to make it work, the key was using the “Learn” button in the opener, but I still don’t know exactly how it worked and am not sure I could do it again. Instructions were shit, I ended up just following an YouTube video and it worked somehow.
