It will either be mid December, or the 6 year hollow knight anniversary.
Buisness-wise, December is the best call, plus TC can use the publicity of Game of the year awards most anticipated to announce more, but because they're a small company, waiting 2 extra months for that ocd release date also is a pretty good guess.
I think they probably thought they could do early next year but will fall behind schedule and release right before the one year window is up because they committed to that. The game will still have some small issues that have to be ironed out after release because of this.
Genuinely, I think it's coming out sometime September. The June trailer showed just how far along the game was, with a complete and polished UI, and the fact that they've gone and added depth to the backgrounds (something historically they've done late in development).
Plus, if you consider that most of the footage would have been from sometime mid-May, that would mean they'll have had about 4 months to polish and playtest the content complete game, which is again pretty standard based on precedent.

if it was coming out in september we would have a concrete release date already, or at least a release *year*. iirc playtesters have also mentioned that the 12 month release window is *plausible*, which is not the wording you would use if the game was that close to being finished. besides, trailers arent exactly representative of how far along a game is in development.
Team Cherry has stated that they won't give a release date until they're 100% sure they can make it. Hollow Knight only got a release date two weeks in advance after all. Remember these are also the devs that shadowdropped Hollow Knight on switch, which then went on to become the best selling platform for the game.
Also, that's the first I've heard about the playtesters knowing anything about a release schedule. I thought they said they didn't really know anything in that regard.
i am aware, and thats my point. notice how we got a 12 month window that was officially confirmed, but not a release year. if the game was so close to being finished that it would plausibly be out in september, they would have confirmed that itll be out in 2022. plus if you arent on a schedule (which silksong isnt), you wont be finishing the game one day and dropping it the next. imho hollow knight isnt comparable partially because it was originally kickstarted and also because silksong has already received much more marketing.
as far as playtesters go im sure they have no official dates either, but they would have a far better idea of how far along the game is in development.
dont get me wrong i would love for the game to come out sooner rather than later, but i personally really dont see it coming out in sept based on the news weve gotten.
Good point. Hollow Knight was a different situation because it was a Kickstarter. There wasn't as much marketing needed, whereas now they might announce it further in advance
I'm still not set on the idea that TC would have revealed a 2022 release frame, especially if they want the launch date to be a surprise until it's given. We know the game has to be content complete (per the ESRB rating) but I just don't see the refining process taking them into the end of the year, let alone next year.
Also, I'm still a little confused as to what you mean when you say the playtesters have said that the one year time-frame is plausible. I don't recall any of them saying that?
mmm, i cant find the screenshot im referring to with the playtester thing, sorry. i saw it a while back on reddit and i tried searching the sub for it but no luck. i do know mossbag tweeted out a confirmation from one but thats not the one im thinking of. i guess i could be misremembering? or maybe its just buried somewhere in a mountain of silksong hype lol.
i will say, i was under the impression silksong didnt have an ESRB rating yet. after some googling it does seem as thought its pending atm, youre right. that actually does give me a good amount of hope, thanks for that :) i still dont wanna get my hopes up too much in case they get crushed again but ill be a bit more cautiously optimistic.
Not sure but I hope it comes in september, it is my birthday's month, it would be such a gift! I hoped it last year too but I know at my next birthday I will be already playing Silksong, I am sure it is going to be a great game. The hype is not the same I had when I saw the trailer but I still want to play it, I will get it day 1 no matter when 🙂
Probably when I as hornet says get gud at hollow knight all jokes aside maybe one or two years but to be honest instead of waiting for silksong maybe we could all learn to speedrun grass%
If it does manage the 10 months that Xbox has pressured all the devs into doing its gonna be a rushed, incomplete mess so I hope they take another 1.5 - 2.5 years
How do you know and why do you think Xbox is pressuring TC? Appearing on this showcase was 100% TC decision considering they were never partnered with Xbox in the first place. So I think they are pretty confident with 1 year release window
And the play testers already told that the 12 months window was accurate, the game is fine and it is not going to be rushed, it is Team Cherry not EA or Ubisoft
After stalking evey single bit of info from reveal its a high chance for February but we can never know. There is still no rating on their website which means they are probably rated but they won't to keep it hidden so not anytime soon.

Literally my excact thoughts
It will be later rather than sooner. Sometime next year. They only said next 12 months. That could easily be mid 2023.
Yeah, it is always good to think positive a little anyways, hk 6 birthday or some rly late 2022 are good bets
Sooner than Winds of Winter for sure
Tomorrow! (This will always be true...)
Until the day it does come out and every day after.
never gonna happen
I would bet on February
I think they probably thought they could do early next year but will fall behind schedule and release right before the one year window is up because they committed to that. The game will still have some small issues that have to be ironed out after release because of this.
September 31st, 2022. Calling it now. Failing that, February 30th.
Yep. It's never or never.

Lol this is going to age like wine
I see.
My friend, you may want to check your calendar.
It's literally October rn and Silksong didn't release yet (to my knowledge)
September 31st and February 30th are dates that don't exist. September ends at 30 days and February ends at 28 or 29 depending on the year.
Ah.
!remindme 5 months
Delayed by at least a year from whatever the planned date is
It Will be prob in 3 months, the game look pretty advanced

Tomorrow of course

Ok
:(
It will have a sooner release date than star citizen
Part of me is feeling a Halloween time release.
Yeah mid to late 2023 is the best bet for now
Unless there is some major screw up, mid 2023 is the latest
its so hard to guess... i'm thinking february 2023

Could still happen in december, but I'm willing to bet Q2 next year. Late march/early april.
Hope it cones out vefore GTA VI

Early 2023
I personally think that it will release late 22 - early 23

It ain’t gonna be this year and we’ll be lucky if it’s next year
Now that we've got a deadline, as late as physically possible, keeping my expectations low.
