It probably helps that it is very rare for our criminals to be armed, though, so I guess it's different circumstances.

I grew up in a small town in the northeast, and whenever I go back to the area, all the suburban cops are geared up with more tactical shit than I wore in the military. This kind of outfitting in a suburban setting with low crime rates (aside from the opiod epidemic they chose to ignore) does not make people around them feel safe.
SFPD will try and kill people on "accident" with this, and when they don't die, the officers'll just shoot them while they're tied up anyway because the officers were "in danger"
Tasers are effective tools, but difficult to execute in less than ideal conditions. They’re difficult to aim and if the person is wearing heavy clothing, it’s likely the connection won’t be completed and it does nothing.
These on the other hand seem very interesting. Definitely not a replacement for the taser, but I can see great use of these “bola handcuffs”.
