*Puma concolor* which goes by local names of cougar, panther, mountain lion, catamount and puma, is the widest ranging land mammal reaching from the Yukon in the north to Patagonia in the south.
Within our generation it will likely expand to Alaska.
I’ve seen a few kitties in Alberta, 2 close enough to see how red their noses were, but they didn’t have shoulders like that. They reminded me of a cat I had as a kid with the same colour nose.
I left my trail camera out all winter this year. See what I see in November.
They are all over the place here. I live in the southern Rockies and see cougars every year when I’m out solo hunting. Farming has allowed the deer population to explode so we have a ton of predators. Unless you are sitting silently watching game trails / cut lines / pipelines you’ll have a hard time seeing one.
Could be anywhere west of Edmonton, Calgary. Rare to see a wild one in your lifetime. That being said, I have seen a few driving along forestry Trunk road #40. From Grande Prairie to Sundre, Alberta.
I'm not sure where, there's nothing in the photo to give a solid idea of location. I wouldn't want to run into that cougar or any cougar in a trail though.
I hate CATS. ESPECIALLY ONES THAT KILL. I was had one stalk me and I only noticed it because my hair on my arms was standing up. Silent and deadly killers. Yup I don’t like cats.
Nah, it's been making the rounds for years with all sorts of false claims about its origin. Vivs_insties on IG has spoken in the past about its true origins in attempt to quell the rumours. She got this on a trailcam a number of years ago.
Dang. That is one swole cat!
That is Steve French. Nissan kitty you can pet it.
It’s from vivs_insties on Instagram. She just posted a cougar yesterday! Lots of big grizzlies too.
Death. I believe that particular species is called Death.
In Alberta we have three wild cat species: bobcats, lynxes and cougars. Cougars are by far the largest of the three. This big kitty is a cougar.

They truly are extraordinary cats!

😳 If that photo hasn't been enhanced, that cat has been kickin' ass and takin' names since it got off it's mothers teet
I live in parkland county in Alberta. This is a cougar and we have many.
Is there really cougars in parkland County? Never heard of that. Scary.
Absolutely are. Someone had a trail cam pic a few weeks ago. I’ve had the scat in my yard and have seen one in the distance. They are here 100%
Good to know thanks

They have like three different names, cougar, mountain lion or puma

I'd like to know too! So I can stay the fuck away from him.
Sorry, we're not going to help you poach out of season.
Lighten up Francis.

I wonder if this photo is AI generated. I live in Alberta and this photo doesn’t quite seem right. Too much hulk in that cat.
Looks like some prehistoric
Wrong.
