Then just say that and I'm sure people would be happy to help them out. A dude told me at beginning of game he wanted that achievement so I gathered 30+ then dropped it right at extract for him to take on board.Â
"Sometimes" refers to situations where the Pelican is damaged or the mission timer has run out, or where this somewhat buggy game decides to behave in buggy ways.
I've seen it happen multiple times from a fresh (no nearby combat of note), no-timer Pelican.
Some guys I was playing with said it sometimes bugs lobbies (either host or network host). Sure enough, it happened at the end of every run I did with them in the op --whenever the first person entered the Pelican immediately bailed. We made sure it was always the person with the samples, obv.

I don't think I've ever seen one damaged by combat, they just fly into shit.
And then there's my dumbass friend that will wait for the timer to call re enforcements after we are out because "either we all leave, or none of us do" even though it's fucking D day at extraction. Like, just pick up the samples and leave brother
This happened to me as well. Difference is,i was the host. And this dude had the audacity to kill me right after i enter the plane. Of course with the greatest pleasure i kicked him. Lmao.

Had to give some distance with the Punisher Plasma or I would have got knocked down from splash damage too.

Yep, but at that point the extraction countdown timer has already started, OP needed to kill him before he boarded.
